Here is what Fujfilm Middle East teased in the last few days. It looks like a mix between Hall 9000 and Wall-E’s girlfriend and it’s called X-Robot. All we know until now is written at Fujfilm Middle East facebook page:
“X-Robot has finally arrived!! Just in time to help photographers elevate their visuals. With tips and tricks that he has picked up in his adventures, X-Robot will bring all his knowledge into the service of photographers of all competency levels. Watch this space for more X-Robot!”
I still prefer Rico’s book “Mastering the X-PRO1 and X-E1” to elevate my photography skills.
And now lemme focus again on the X-T1.

Forgot that Fuji is a Japanese company for a second 😀
I looked at it in horror until I remembered that in Japan this might actually be a good marketing strategy. In the Middle East, I’m not so sure.
Hope the twin red eyes robot speaks not only Japanese …
Corny as this is, congratulations to Fuji for taking some new approaches to reach out a hand to aspiring photographers.
I’m sorry Dave, I can’t do that.
Jokes aside it may be a good way of engaging customers
Wonder if that robot runs on NP-95 or NP-W126 power?
Ahh well, no Terminator / Predator / Jonny 5 laser eye infrared hal 9000 style focusing system for new X cam then.
Shame.
Hmmm – well I guess this is a bit of a different approach compared to the Nikon Df campaign…
Bizarre…
Nice contrast to the retro approach! Tells that although the cameras look nice, they are still packed with high tech!
They missed a chance to tease us again, X-Robot should have had the XT1 around it’s neck!
On release it’ll talk and move slowly, occasionally lock up, and won’t be able to see in anything but strong sunlight.
Firmware 1.0.1 in June will sort this out.
Hahahahha
Kudos to you bruh!
Anyone know where the SD card slot will be situated? 😉
Yes.
LOL!!!
Love it!
Does this X-Robot come in an XX female version?
only XXX
I hear he’s got great taste in photo equipment.
I like it, it sure is a better mascot than that stupid I AM NIKON .. and that song. Argh !
####### You are doing a great job Patrick!! Keep it up man 😀 .. #######
Im at work, refreshing fujirumors every hour LOL.. even when i get home. Im so addicted hahah
I am a Nikon d90 user, wanting to switch to Fuji and I will take the step with X-T1 + 56 1.2 and 24 1.4.. and im looking soo forward to it 😀
Thank you for keeping us updated!
I refresh FR every hour at work too :-)!!! Approve comments, read news and so! Oh, and there will be soon an ebay auction on your Nikon!
I know how it is…I will drop my D60/D90 duo (well the D90 is my father’s but I shoot a lot with it for one year) and get a new system. I’ve studied the E-M1 a lot but it turns that although it’s packed with features, the IQ of the mft sensor is much bellow the X-Trans II aps-c (not only in term of high iso but for landscape at low iso where mft is way too noisy in my opinion).
The X-E2 + the great 18-55 f2.8 OIS – 55-200 f3.5-4.8 OIS duo will be my start this year and the next one I shall get the 10-24 f4 OIS and maybe the 56 f1.2. What I really want after buying the three zooms is a real 1:1 macro lens and I hope Fuji will deliver 🙂
I think you are making a wise choice. Last spring, a friend of mine decided to replace his X-Pro 1 with an OM-D EM-5, but within a month he decided to sell the OM-D and buy another X-Pro 1, as he wasn’t satisfied with the image quality and he realized that he loved shooting with his X-Pro 1. Personally, at this point, there is no other camera that I would rather shoot with. So, if the X-T1 turns out to be better than the X-E2, it will likely be a great choice. I may even get one as a second X-Series camera.
Oh, I misread your statement ~ I thought you were thinking of getting an X-T1. Nonetheless, the X-E2 appears to be a very nice camera too.
I recommend that you get the 23mm and 35mm instead of the 18-55. But, if money is an issue, the 18-55mm is still a very nice lens.
I travel a lot an zooms are more convenient. The three XF zooms are premium zooms with good optical quality and great build (from what I’ve read on par with the Canon F4 L zooms). If i’ll get primes I shall buy a 1:1 macro (if Fuji will ever produce that kind of lens and I think it will considering there are 17 lenses on the roadmap and it was announced that they will have 20 own branded lenses ASAP) and the 56 f1.2 for great indoor portraits (more of a specialized lens in my opinion so it’s not on my top list). The 23 will be six on my list and I think is a great lens for indoor group photos and snapshots.
I’m feeling the same way. I went from a D80 to a D600 a year ago when they were on sale (and before the D610 was announced) and have spent a frustrating 12 months dealing with a defective camera. D600 is back at Nikon for a 3rd time in just over a year.
In the meantime, I picked up an X100S (to use while the D600 is in the shop) and just love shooting it. Hard to make the switch when you’ve got money tied up in glass, but depending on how things go, I’m ready to divest and move over to Fuji, especially if my situation isn’t resolved to my satisfaction. Nice to have a choice between an X-E2 and the X-T1. Even if I keep the Nikon, I’m thinking that instead of buying a new Nikon lens this year, it might be worth picking up another Fuji as a backup/alternate/travel camera. Fuji is doing a lot of really excellent things in terms of design and customer support and that makes a difference..
And their XF lenses are great. They need to build a better flash system.
By the way, is there a good eBook somewhere for the X100s?
Not just a rewrite of the manual, but a real good one… anyone?
If you are ok with a hard copy, there’s a good hard copy book that’s about 400 pages.

Thanks,
I read the trial version of that one on Kindle and was not too impressed. Very beginner level. Maybe it’s just the beginning…
I can see that selling a bunch of X A1’s and other cameras
I’m having terrifying visions of Clippy* interrupting my workflow with some unhelpful advice.
*From Microsoft Office, roughly 10-15 years ago.
That was the first thing I thought of. “Hi, I am X-Robot. It looks like you are trying to take a photo. Would you like assistance?”
I feel like Ralphie, right now.
Actually, Fuji-bot looks more like the Marvin the paranoid android from the 2005 release of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
I’d say it’s a complete rip-off of the movie Marvin!
I want one!!!
Me too!
So this is the X-T1 ?
A revival of the twin lens reflex cameras ? Nice ! 🙂
I’m a bit puzzled by the ergonomics though…
Has anyone compared the book suggested to Rico’s approach, in his books?
Here is my dilemma:
Currently own a 5dII with 35mm f/1.4, 70-200mm f/2.8 IS after cleaning up the houses. Mastering ETTL system with PW flexTT5. However, weight is a factor as I travel a lot with my young kids. Started to look into Fuji X-series as 2nd system and eventually get rid of DSLR completely.
Love the X100s due to its small factor, favorite fixed 23mm & ultra-sync leaf-shutter flash. However, I’m not pro who can afford to own another X-Ex system with overlapped 23mm, so I am leaning toward X-E2 or maybe X-T1 body with fixed 23mm, 56mm, and eventually 14mm or 12mm. My hesitation is the mediocre TTL flash system from Fuji.
So I may not jump to Fuji until it figures out how to improves its flash system … until then … will continue to support and watch FujiRumors.
Ouch! http://www.dpreview.com/news/2014/01/14/fujifilm-launches-updated-grip-for-x-e-and-x-pro-cameras
A Fuji flash system would be most welcome.
Ha!
So, the two gleaming eyes in the dark, the anticipated hyper-laser-dual-cannon-AF is ….. drums …. just an online roboting-system like Syri, from Apple, or Eva from Ikea (on their homepage, very funny).
I had my laugh, such a teaser for such an information.
But I really hope that they do not plan to bring this kind of AI into a camera – I also can remember the ridiculous Carl Clippy from MS.
Scenario: I am on a nice tour with my family, taking out my camera to take picture of my daughter infront of the scenery:
Camera:
“Hi Daniel, it seems to me that you want to make a landscape picture, can….”
Daniel:
“Ähh, sorry, no I just want to take a picture of my girl in front of that hill”
Camera:
“Ok, Daniel. I adjusted the camera to have a mostly green Chilly in the photo”
Daniel:
“No, no, not a green chilly, my girl in front of a hill”
Camera:
“Understand, so you want to take a picture of a hunter who kills a bear? – is that supposed to be an action shot?”
Daniel:
“Sigh! No that’s not an action shot”
Camera:
“Ahh, then you are in a museum”
Daniel:
“No, I am not in a fuc**** museum. I just want to … ahh, bugger off you little creature!”
Camera, in a very snappy tone:
“There is no reason to get rude, I only want to help and also machines do have feelings. I shut down the camera now to give you some time to think about your attitude. Enjoy your day”
With a smiley icon with two gleaming red eyes the screen on the camera went black ….
Nevertheless, I am still curious about the upcoming camera.
Daniel
Well I finally signed up for this site even though I visit often. Why not make my user name this. Haha.
Looks like this little dude might struggle with Fuji’s tactile controls.
Remember ED-209 trying to walk down a flight of stairs?
Seriously? How childish. Fuji needs to focus on their great products and not on the terrible unprofessional marketing strategy like this one. Cheesy toy robot? How old are your customers, Fuji? Blah…
We need more xt1 stuff. It’s been at least a day! 😉 Patrick!?
did you read my latest post ;-)?
Haha…
