1) photographyblog posted the X-M1 review review here. 4.5 out of 5 starts… and guess where the X-M1 lost half a star? Exactly, the viewfinder. Some extracts:
“Despite its significantly lower price on launch, the Fujifilm X-M1 is another well-built X-series camera, with very little no flex or movement in its chassis, despite having more plastic in its construction. […] The Fujifilm X-M1’s auto-focusing speed is quick, with a quoted fastest auto-focus time of 0.1 seconds, although it was slightly slower when using the 16-50mm kit zoom. […] The Fujifilm X-M1 produces images of outstanding quality. […] The new 16-50mm lens is also worthy of mention, as although it has a cheaper build quality, it still offers sharp results throughout the focal range. The X-M1 is certainly right up there with the best APS-C sensor cameras on the market, and some full-frame models too, so if image quality at an affordable price is paramount, the [shoplink 13828]X-M1[/shoplink] certainly fits the bill.” (review here)
[UPDATE] photographyblog just posted the 16-50 review here. Fast and quiet focus, “Vignetting is practically a non-issue, and chromatic aberrations are present but well-controlled […] pleasingly sharp in the image centre at 16mm and 23mm, with performance dropping off at 35mm and 50mm where optimum sharpness isn’t achieved until f/8.“

Good review but I do not understand why lack of viewfinder is criticized on this camera. For viewfinder you have many option to choose from, but X-M1 is for the person who prefers the quickness of Point and Shoot camera (PASM dial, LCD screen). Yes, it is special camera because of interchangeable lenses, in my opinion X-M1 is still an upgrade path to better picture quality for the XF1 and X20 customer. Enthusiast photographer always have more option, X-E1 and X-Pro1 is tailor made for these customers. Even X100S is the enthusiast choice, not for the beginner photographer.
I hope Fuji come with more X cameras (X-A1, maybe more) for different markets and price point. Maybe Fujifilm finally makes the good all around camera with X mount, proper video support and more finetuning. It is sad to see how Fujifilm, known very well in the cinema world for excellent Fujinon optics (ARRI Alura lens for example, Hollywood quality lenses for broadcast and film) and who has very good video option in FINEPIX camera is lacking in X series camera!
Please Fuji, X mount camera with 24 fps video option and manual control (shutter, iris, ASA). I will buy it instant when it comes to market. Fujinon optics is highly desired for cinema and XF lenses have good quality, not comparable to ARRI Alura, but very good for small indie production. I want this X camera to happen!
Peace!
I completely agree with the video part, they already added the 1080p60 before I thought they would ever do so 1080p24 and full manual controls can be next.
I’m not really sure there should be more than the X-A1 though, I’d need to know what kind of camera it’s first but if that is really a $500 camera, I can’t see how you can get lower than that. Until the other day, I had no ideia why X-A1 should exist but now I think that it may address the same market as the GF6 or E-PM1, which are smaller cameras aimed at young females, at least in Asia.
“The X-M1 is certainly right up there with the best APS-C sensor cameras on the market, and some full-frame models too, so if image quality at an affordable price is paramount, the X-M1 certainly fits the bill.”
This makes the X-M1’s existence worth.
