X-E2 with kit lens for $1,119 (€ 1,008 / £ 739) or body only for $ 899 at DigitalRev

 photo dd_zps34929f82.jpg

And here we have another store, that is anticipating the X-E2 deals (which officially will start on May 25th!). It’s DigitalRev, and they are selling the X-E2 kit for $1,119 here and the body for  $899.

The good thing is, that the discount is valid also worldwide. So, if you buy the X-E2 with 18-55 lens in Germany, you’ll pay €1,008, while in UK it will cost you £739. If you go for the body only, you’ll have to pay €811 (in Germany).

Keep in mind that, if you order from Europe via DigitalRev, you won’t get the standard 2 year EU warranty, but just a 1 year warranty. Free shipping and no import taxes (at least to the EU-country I live in).

DigitalRev offers two types of warranty for free:

1. Worldwide Local Warranty

Simply send your product to a local authorised service centre to obtain a repair estimate. Send the estimate to us for approval (we check if the repairs being carried out matches the problems described, and also make sure it is covered by the warranty terms and conditions, e.g. accidental damage is not covered).

Once approved, your product will be serviced and repaired with all the costs paid by us.

2. Door-to-door Warranty

If you prefer a simple laid-back approach and don’t mind waiting slightly longer, we offer Door-to-door warranty where we will send a courier to your home to collect the faulty product and have it returned to our global service depot. We’ll then handle everything for you and have repaired item returned to you by courier.

This approach may take longer, but you do not have to do anything. Just pack the product in a box and wait for the our courier to pick it up.

  1. It’s not because DigitalRev claims that you only get one year warranty, that this is true. As Apple has already found out, the 2 year EU warranty must be given and it must be advertised. If somebody sues DigitalRev for misinformation on the site, then DigitalRev loses. If somebody has a defect after 18 months, DigitalRev will have to give the warranty. No worries, fellow EU citizens 🙂

The price in Belgium for an X-E1+18-55XF lens is €655. That’s €140 more than just the body. If I sell the 18-55, I can buy the 27mm pancake.

The X-E1+35mm kit is quite expensive at DigitalRev. It’s actually a few euros cheaper to buy an X-E1 body and the 35mm lens separately. Doesn’t make any sense.

    1. The second year European warranty concerns hidden manufacturer’s defect and require the customer to prove that a fault is due to such a defect for it to be valid. Quite non trivial to prove.

Plus, you can’t pretend to benefit from an European law when you’re frauding the VAT by buying from HK grey market.

These store are a good way to get gear for cheap, but don’t be too greedy, these low prices comes at a price 😉

      1. There’s plenty that’s a bit suspicious about DigitalRev. They don’t have an address in mainland Europe, so they’re probably shipping from the UK. In that case, goods are covered by EU warranty. But I don’t expect good after sales service anyway. I’m staying away from this shop.

  2. One quick warning about DigitalRev – for a $600 purchase I was not only charged a $20 foreign transaction fee from my credit card, but I was also billed $21 from FedEx for import fees. I’m not sure if this is commonly known from ordering from DigitalRev – I wash’t aware when I ordered and wouldn’t have ordered from them if I had known about these extra fees I would incur.

    1. a) SHIPPING: DHL or UPS Express (4-6 Days) FREE.

That’s what DigitalRev says, when I put go to checkout. (I’m located in Europe).

      b) TAXES: No Import Tax/Duty to Pay: Any import tax/duty charged will be billed directly to us.

That’s what DigitaRev writes at checkout.

Maybe it is different from country to country? At least in the European country where I live, shipping is free and taxes won’t be charged to the customer.

      1. In Europe, taxes are typically included in the price (hence the name VAT for “value-added tax”). That’s not the case in the United States, where sales taxes are typically added on after the case.
