[UDPATE] WHAT A DEAL! Brand New Black Fujifilm X100T for just $1,049 (save $250) :: Silver Version for $1,099

 photo X100T_zpsuytjo0kf.jpg

[UPDATE: Some readers say in the comments that they had bad experiences with this seller. Tyler, the reader who shared the deal with FR (and previoulsy bought the X100T for $1,049) told me that 42photo tried to sell him also an extended warranty, he declined and received his discounted X100T with one day delay. As I said in the original post, best is to call them directly, and if you are not convinced, do not buy. NOTE: I’m located in Europe, so I normally trust what you guys tell me. In this case, the first to tell me about was Tyler, who complaint about the 1 day delay and their attempt to try to sell him an additional warranty, but he got his X100T for the discounted price]

UDPATE: It’s “an import model” and carries “only a 30-day in-store warranty.”

You’ll think: “To good to be true!” But that’s not fiction, that’s real.

NY store 42photo is offering the black Fujifilm X100T (Condition: Brand New) for just $1,049 ($250 rebate + Free Cleaning Kit). FR-reader Tyler (who passed me this deal, thanks) already purchased one a few weeks ago for this price. Also the silver version is in offer for $1,099 ($200 rebate)

There is a phone number you can call, to speak directly with 42photo and talk about this deal. So I invite you to click on this link, look for the number and call them, ask everything you want to know about this deal, and then eventually  place your order.

UK residents can save £130 in the black or silver X100T at wexphotographic here.

  1. I can’t believe this honorable site is promoting 42nd street photo, they are notorious as boiler-room sales sharks, buyers can find their own ‘deals’ without being redirected to this outfit with so many horrific reviews, yelp etc etc geez come on

    1. UPDATE ! after calling these sharks I was told repeatedly that these camera’s are gray market AND you can only buy this camera with mandatory $199.00 “warranty”, come on fujifumors you are better than this !!

        1. WOW… slow down. According to the reader, who purchased the X100T at 42street, they TRIED to sell him the extended warranty. At the end this was annoying, sure, but he got his camera without any mandatory warranty

          1. I think they don’t understand what they bought, and that’s the problem.

Without the ‘extended warranty’ (which is third party) a grey market Fuji has NO warranty – they will not honor an ‘international’ warranty when the camera is bought in the US.

Fuji will not service or replace the product at all, unless the purchaser pays for the repair.

Additionally grey market cameras have chargers that aren’t UL tested or tuned for US power sources, so the chance of damaging your batteries is higher (or worse, your camera if you charge it by plugging it in w. batteries inside)

          2. @Nawksi:disqus – No, not reaching at all. Fuji states themselves that they ship international products with different tolerances in their charging products than the ones that need to comply to UL tolerances.

Too much amperage, or unmodulated amperage can screw up the board on
your $1000+ camera, and if it has no warranty, you are SOL.

I’ve been in the business for 30 years, and have bought my share of grey market product – and typically one of the first things I do do an amperage and ohm test on the charger, if its not up to snuff, I purchase the US (UL compliant) version of the charger – some are shipped units are fine, but many are are tuned for 220 (not the standard 110 use use in the US) – And I have no desire to destroy my gear, or have it fail when I need it the most.

So before assuming that everything is negative, do some research to find out if if there is validity to someone else’s statement.

      1. In the article I basically say: there is a hot deal BUT please call them first to check everything with the store and ONLY THEN decide to buy or not

    2. The reader, who already purchased there, now has an X100T for $1049. They tried to sell him an extended warrenty. He declined. With one day delay, he received his X100T

  2. “Call us for free shipping and an accessory kit” is about as big of a red flag as I’ve seen. A person would have to be crazy to try to buy a $1000+ item from a “retailer” like this. They will get you on the phone and suddenly the camera won’t have a warranty.. Or a battery.. Or will be out of stock indefinitely if you won’t buy the add-ons.

This is about as low as I’ve seen a rumor site get for sales. At least the sketchy gray market deals are usually through ebay…

  3. While I’m not as upset as bandman, I do agree that this store should not be linked on this site. They are a grey market sort of store, and often times require mandatory “packages” or “warranties” to offset their “low” prices.

    1. I talked to the reader who already purchased it… he says he paid exactly the price listed. They tried to sell him an extended warranty, but he refused. With one day delay he got the X100T… for exactly that price

        1. I have no experience with them. I live in Europe. So I have to trust the feedback I got from the reader… he got it for $1049 and is now a happy X100T owner… So I decided to share the deal, but, nevertheless, in the article I invite all FR-readers to call the store before purchasing anything.

  4. Not Fuji authorized reseller. Please check this PDF put out by Fuji.

Patrick, we truly appreciate all the effort you have done for us on this site. I know you have to have financial support for maintaining this site. I will continually to do so by purchasing through your links. But these unauthorized dealers are a little sketchy. BHphoto and adorama and amazon or camera land that is also authorized are AWESOME info to be sharing with us. Thank you. http://www.fujifilmusa.com/shared/bin/AUTHORIZED_DEALER_LIST_REVISED_050913.pdf

  5. 42nd street photo is the worst! i had a TERRIBLE experience with them. Would not give my money back on a return and when i finally got the money back i left a bad review on them and they charged my card again and would not give that money back till i removed the review.

    1. I would disputed the charge, merchant cant charge you if you don’t have the item. If you use Amex card, that is even better: merchant always lose on dispute, AE don’t gave a c**p on what merchants says.

  6. Be wary of 42ns Street photo – They have a reputation for grey market bait and switch games. I’ve also had bad experiences with them. If you check the net, you will find many similar stories and complaints.

    1. I’ve posted an update to the post… apparently I received an email from the only US customer who was happy to have grabbed the super discounted X100T at 42photo

          1. the reader contacted me. He called the store. No warranty (just 30 days). I’ve updated again the post.

Thanks bob for your help to dig up the truth

  7. I don’t get any commission if you buy at 42nd street. I have no affiliation with them. I just shared because a reader purchased an X100T for $1049 at their store and told me about it.

  8. I’ve posted an update to the article with your feedback. I hope you’ll appreciate it 😉

That being said, I’m a bit sad to read the harsh reaction of some of you. I’ve explained the reason why I posted this article in other comments.

Guys… I write yearly about 700 articles… it can happen that some of them are not perfect or complete. Just let me know kindly, and I’ll update them.

I can’t be perfect, I think no one can. Especially when you write 700 articles in your spare time, in holidays, when I’m sad or when I’m happy, in the night or during lunch!

I put my best into it… but non perfect articles will still happen… especially when I write about stores that are on the other part of the world where I live.

Therefore I said in the original post NOT to buy, but to CALL first and be informed what the conditions are.

    1. Patrick, I think that I speak for everyone when we say we really appreciate the site and all your efforts! But i think that you are reading all of the feedback incorrectly – we are not giving the feedback to be negative or harsh, but rather to help you (and other readers).

Many of us are familiar with 42nd Street photo – they have a bad reputation – that’s coming from at least one person (myself) who lives in NYC, and has been in the business for 30 years.

We aren’t criticizing you or the site – we are supporting you by pointing out something that can hurt your reputation. Please take the comments in that spirit.

      1. Thanks. Most of you simply pointed out that 42 is not reliable, which is exactly the help I need from you guys,

Some (a few) simply surprised me with their reaction.

But true. Most of you simply dropped quickly a comment to help me and tell me about 42photo, and I appreciate that a lot. Really thanks for that

    2. I can’t believe the overreaction, and quite frankly, I’m glad the whiners/whingers are leaving. Good riddance.

As far as I’m concerned, this is a blog, and not a fact-checked news source. Even if you had, rather coincidentally, posted a link to a small but “legitimate” (i.e. not grey market) Fuji reseller — one that most people had never heard of — I’d do further research on the reseller anyway. Why? Because I don’t want to waste my money, and I take responsibility for purchases I made. Legit or not, I wouldn’t want to buy from a reseller who didn’t have a good reputation.

Again, this responsibility would be on me to find out as a purchaser, not on Patrick.

Sure, I’ll follow a link posted on this website in order to support it. However, the onus is still on me to look up reviews, comments, complaints regarding resellers before I make that purchase, even if the camera is said to not be from an authorized reseller.

It’s not because I don’t trust you, but because Patrick can’t know the reputation of every Fuji reseller. I purchased the 18 mm f/2 lens for around $160 USD based on information posted on this website, and it worked out for me. I made sure the shop in Sydney was legitimate before making the purchase.

      1. thanks for your understanding.

In fact, since do not live in USA, and this was a store I’ve never heard of, I asked you to do what you said in your comment: make the check by yourself.

I expressly informed the readers that there is a phone number they should call BEFORE placing any order. Sure, I could have called from Europe and do the job for you… in fact I could start calling stores all over the world for any deal FR-readers pass me (or that I find)… but if possible I’d like to avoid that extra time consuming and costy work.

btw… I’m in no way affiliated to 42photo. If you buy there, there won’t be any support for this blog.

P.S.: thanks for your support by using affiliate links posted on FR

    2. You are glad any of his audience is leaving? That’s very mature of you.

The majority of us here are merely helping Patrick by giving him some information that will help him manage his reputation.

People “should” check out their retailer first. However, many come to a site like FujiRumors, and consider it a trusted site, and when FujiRumors links to a deal such as this, by proxy it becomes an endorsement.

If that leads to a string of unhappy purchases and angry customers, it will hurt the reputation and readership of the site. Patrick was good to put up the updates and the caveats – many of us who have dealt with 42nd street in the past know what a pain the the ass it will be for those looking for a ‘good deal’. So maybe take the comments in the spirit they are intended – as help and support to FujiRumors. Some of us have been here since the beginning, and care about the growth of the site and community.

      1. “You are glad any of his audience is leaving? That’s very mature of you.”

Do you know what’s mature? Telling Patrick that they’ll no longer visit this website, or that they’re deleting the bookmark to this website, because of one solitary post.

Oh wait a second, that’s not mature at all….

The “majority” of you aren’t “merely” helping, and it certainly doesn’t have the tone of “advice”. If this is the way people are giving “advice”, then they should be ashamed of yourself.

Doesn’t sound like advice to me, but that’s because I don’t give advice in such a rude way. Do you?

Quite frankly, it speaks volumes about you if you think the majority of these posts are advice.

        1. A single commenter made such a remark – every other commenter either praised Patrick but tried to give warning about 42nd St. or just shared their bad experiences about 42nd Street.

Perhaps you should read a little more closely instead of being immediately defensive. Patrick gets it, not sure wny you don’t.

And following up with an ad hominem? You don’t know me in the least, let alone ‘volumes about me”. so don’t presume to make assumptions about me or my intent.

Everything that I’ve shared (as have 99% of the commenters) has been in an effort to help clarify the shakiness of this ‘deal’. And you’ll note that everything that I’ve mentioned to Patrick has been shown to be true (by the purchaser he’s been communicating with, and by others).

So kindly take your indignation elsewhere – it’s not helpful (in fact, its counterproductive).

          Good day.
