Trusted Source says: A New X-camera will be Announced in May!

 photo new x_zpsajnfkprs.jpg

According to a trusted source, Fuji will announce a new X-camera in May. The source didn’t specify if it will be one with intercheangeable lenses or a fixed lens camera.

What camera could it be? Maybe the long rumored X-T10? It is expected to be available in late spring/early summer, so an announcement in mid/late May (available in late June) could be a plausible option. But it could be also a completely different model.

I’ll work on it as soon as I’m at home this evening. Of course, any help from sources out there is highly appreciated.

OOT: Those who purchased a Tonlé X-shirt (You’re Great!) now have the chance to win a $75 voucher simply by posting a picture on Instagram showing your X-shirt with the name of the Tonlé member who made it within April 24. 1. many forget about it, but there are often “new” cameras from Fuji

    Firmeware 3 X-T1 – like a new camera!
    same wirh X100, X-Pro1 and X-E1

I know, many bug should not have been there from the beginning- but all those new features!!
Thanks Fuji and keep up the good work!

    1. I am still very dissapointed that x100s doesn’t get any more firmware updates. Seems like an overlooked model compared to fx x-t1 and x-e2. The updates it has received were only bug fixes and compatibility with the teleconverters, which off course is of major interest to Fuji if they want to sell mentioned converters.

  2. An X-E3 with IBS, 100-12800 ISO, improved S/N, ability to turn off NR, and improved EVF? If so, I’ll sell a kidney if need be.
    Don’t kill my dreams.

  3. Too bad, just bought an X-E1 yesterday with the kit lens 18-55 2.8-4 for 750€/800 $…
Could wait any more as I have some work coming up (student photography projects) and I wasn’t very attracted to spent extra money on lens for my Nikon System (Dx lenses offers are so few and Nikon never put much interest into it, dealing with FX/DX lenses always been hassles, either loosing wide angle or IQ, being too heavy or way too expensive most of the time).
Whatever is coming up, I reckon it won’t be the boom revolution that everyone is waiting for … XPro 2
So I guess the deal wasn’t too bad considering the price of the single lens 659€/700$ at the moment – mid April 2015.
Not that I’m trying to convince myself but rather build up a nice optical set of lenses and jump on either good deals or serious upgraded cameras when they come.

    1. you basically had an x-e1 for €100 which is a superb deal well done!
I think it is the best way to proceed – start with an “old” body on the cheap, master it and slowly build up the lens collection which will stay. Then one day upgrade the body either new or second hand (with the previous generation body)

    2. The deal wasn’t particularly good either – one year ago I bought brand new X-E1 + 18-55 + 50-230 for the same amount.

    3. Where do you live? Here in Germany the kit with XF 18-55 and XC 50-230 costs 670€ and the lens only costs 550€ (at the rainforest shop). I would have bought and sent it to you 😉

  4. FF X100 using a slightly larger body (single digit percentage) and curved sensor (again to retain format) with updated lens too (just new tech). Lastly, a new dial that allows ISO and other features ah la X-T1. Est. price $1699 Leica rumored to close doors forever unable to conceive how this is even possible.

  5. X-S2 – with 1″ matrix. Why? It was already rumor that Fuji work on X series not retro style. Fuji didn’t put on the market next hs50 (hs60) in January as usual every 2 years, make next HS model. Now fuji don’t have any flagship long zoom.

  6. Few things to improve Fuji cameras:
    – 24-32 MP sensor
    – IBIS
    – Electronic shutter
    – Better video performance
    – Continuous AF that works up to -3 EV
    – Bigger grip with shutter release button in a natural position, similar to the Sony A7 II
    – Touchscreen to take profit from the manual focus aids
    – More flexible options to the great in-camera raw processing, including some more film simulations, with a live view of the parameter changes, and integrating advance effects to be aplicated to raw files.

If the Fuji X-Pro2 meet these improvements, Fuji will the the APS-C King in the Digital era, thanks to their great lenses and system cameras.

  7. Knowing Fuji we will probably see x100z this year. It will be a completed and final version of x100. Weather-sealed, even faster autofocus and with an improved battery life. We will be waiting until end of 2016 for x200. Milk the old sensor until they can’t milk it anymore.

    1. Actually, I hope it is an xt10b, because that’ll be one step closer to forcing them to go full frame so they can fit the full designation on the camera body. If this is yet another dressed up P&S (created by down grading one of their ‘flagship’ models) I will join you in going nuts.

    2. If you’ve followed this rumor site a bit over the last few months – the Xpro2 is scheduled for end of 2015 so this is very likely the x-10; Save your nuts for later 🙂

  8. 24MP and up will create a huge demand for high performance lens. I somehow suspect that it is not going to happen soon.

    1. Most lenses already resolve more detail than any given sensor can translate. Fuji lenses, in particular, certainly resolve more than the current 16mp sensors give. I do think 32mp would be asking too much, but 20-24mp is reasonable. DSLR lenses designed 20 years ago hold up just fine on the newer 20mp+ sensors most of those bodies have.

      1. 24MP is a lot as well. Current 32MP FF sensor has almost the same pixel density with 16MP APSC. 32MP APSC, you are looking at something close to canon 5ds/r. I do think current 16MP sensor is the limiting factor in resolution. But on the other hand I am not sure Fuji lenses will be leading resolution war on 24MP APSC sensors. Maybe it is just me being too negative.

  9. IBIS will never happen on a Fuji X-mount body, just like it’ll never happen for a Canon EF-mount camera. They’ve put IS on the lenses, they’re not going to put it in bodies as well. Doing so would be redundant and cannibalise their own products.

32MP is asking a lot. 24mp is reasonable. I do agree that they need to increase the resolution somewhere north of 20mp. 16.xMP may be fine for lots of people, but it’s not ideal for all work and when other companies’ entry-level cameras are boasting 24mp+, it just looks silly that Fuji’s top cameras still haven’t broken beyond 16mp.

Electronic shutter is a given, they already added that via firmware updates to cameras that didn’t previous have it. I bet there won’t be a sinlge Fuji interchangeable lens camera released in the future without this.

Continuous AF to -3 will be asking a lot. -2EV can be expected from most high-end DSLRs (which all-round have better autofocus than any mirrorless) so I wouldn’t expect any more than that from the next Fuji. Frankly, keeping the same sensitivity but making it simply operate quicker would be preferable, for me. A super-sensitive AF that can lock-on in pitch blackness doesn’t mean anything if it takes an age to do so.

Bigger grip is what you’ll see on the next X-T, most likely. That’s the DSLR-a-like. The Rangefinder-a-like—Pro, X100, X-E—aren’t going to get a bigger grip because that would destroy the purpose of that form factor.

Touch screen, yeah, probably. Depends if that eats the battery life more, though. Fuji are already struggling to get 300-350 shots out of every camera, if they can’t get more juice out of a new battery then you can forget about having a touch screen.

More in-body RAW processing wouldn’t hurt but is unlikely as that’s never been a selling point for any camera ever.

    1. Why they could cannibalize their own products with IBIS? Fuji zooms have OIS, but primes are lacking it. IBIS is a win win solution for high quality shots with the primes in low light situations. Another uses could be expand MP with various shots ala Olympus, or take off moire ala Pentax.
24 MP is reasonable, but not far from 16. Think that 24 is here from 3 years ago, and other branches will put 32 or higher in a near future. Take also into account that 24 is not sufficient for all types of photography. I suspect fuji lenses can resolve 32+ MP.
Rangefinder form factor means without hump, if you leave your favorite lens glued to the camera, the bigger grip won’t increase camera’s volume. I think Fuji can design a good looking grip for a rangefinder style camera, not only for the DSLR form factor of the X-T1. With a bigger grip you can also put a bigger battery to increase its capcity for using the touchscreen.

      1. Not quite/not well. They can technically achieve autofocus in much lower light conditions, but they’re not exactly what you would call consistently reliable and snappy to the standards of autofocus in normal or bright light. When you’re asking for focus to work at a given light level, it’s normal to mean that you want it to work well 🙂

        1. Did you try them? I did GH-4 GX-7, 2 Oly, and Nikon, and they all focused much much better in low light than any Fuji. I wish Fuji with its 0EV only to bring this level of AF EV that you call “not well”.

          1. “Better than Fuji” is still not up to par. Again, there is a difference between doing it and doing it well.
To clarify: yes, I agree that AF performance in low light needs to be improved, as in fact does AF across the board. However, asking for Fuji to suddenly jump up to -3EV and improve the speed and accuracy is asking a helluva lot. -2EV with a bit of a boost in speed is a much more realistic and reasonable request.

      2. Sure George, -4 EV. Last time I checked, my d800 goes down to -2EV. On paper. Two stops better than the d700. On paper. In practice? Pretty much the same.

  10. Dear Fujifilm,

Please make a full frame X100 (or X200 whatever you want to
call it) series camera with a 1.8 or 1.4 lens, real manual focusing, and
    improved auto focusing.

    I’ll buy two day one.

      1. I may be the odd man out, but I don’t care how big it is within reason. Even if it is as big as my trusty Canon FTb w/ a 50mm 1.2 on it, that is still every manageable. I’d gladly take a bump in size to get FF,1.4, and real MF in a X100 series camera.

    1. Yes, let’s kill the x100 line, everybody hates it anyway. Replace it with a bigger lens, bigger sensor, bigger price, because I’m sure that’s all you need to take better pictures 😛

      1. Never said anything about killing the X100 line and I still get fantastic shots with my X100S. But I really enjoy shooting with my old Canon FTb also and would like a digital option that mirrors the shooting experience of shooting with the FTb.
