  • Improved frame lines
  • Shutter dial performance improvements
  • Exposure compensation will be allowed in manual mode

As rumored previoulsy here:

A) Fuji will announce the new Firmware in Mid-May (probably the 11th)
B) The Firmware will be available for download in June (this means, more or less when the X-T10 will be available on the market) – NOTE: last minutes delay can happen, see X100 firmware.

No word about other X-series camears beeing updated for now.

    1. Looks like they’ve been busy in the Af department !

Exposure compensation will be allowed in manual mode – Yes please!!

    2. Im sure it’s starting AF as it see’s you eye? Not tracking your eye. I don’t think it hardware is their but who knows.

      1. It seems that you were thinking of eye control AF (a la Canon EOS 3/5). No, that’s not the case; eye detection AF is merely an improved face detection AF algorithm that can focus on the subject’s eye instead of “some place on the face”.

  1. That sounds awesome! Now wait for the sea of complaints that its not being rolled out to every other camera in the line, including the ones over 3 years old that aren’t being produced anymore. Hell Fuji, I want this in my film cameras or you suck!

  2. I wonder what they mean with “Shutter dial performance improvements”.
Anybody any suggestions what they want to say with this?

I would however like to have a feature so I can set the ISO dial to A or any of the H options and then use the back dial on the camera to set the ISO speed with any XF.
All XF lenses have their aperture dial on the lens and the dial on the back of the X-T1 has no purpose while using XF lenses.

Fuji please give it a purpose by allowing to set the ISO via the backdial.
The lock on the ISO dial on top of the camera can sometimes be cumbersome and time consuming.

  3. They named better accuracy first, strange it was already ok. Then better (AF) performance, so faster focussing (in low light) ?

    1. I guess improved face detection. (The A2 and many other cameras have this)

You can select, if the camera should focus on the left, right or the nearest eye.

      1. Excellent feature, but fails miserably when you try to get portraits of cyclops. That’s why we’ve got so few images of them.

  4. Better tracking was one of the most requested features. Cannot wait for the update to hit the download page!

  5. WHY can’t they give us better exposure bracketing for HDR shots????? It seems like it would take like 5 minutes worth of code-writing!!! W T F FUJI???

  6. Exp compensation on manual mode?
    If that’s true I’ll start saving for a X-T1!!!
    Just one question:
While using auto-ISO, can you see in real time the iso selected?
Or in A-mode and auto iso, can you see in real time speed and iso settings? (without half-pressing the shutter)
If not so, please, Fuji, take note!!!

  7. can someone explain how exposure compensation in manual mode works? Can’t quite figure that one, seems oxymoronic.

      1. “Exposure compensation” isnt exactly the correct term, as exposure settings obviously are manual in the manual exposure settings mode.
However, ISO may automatically be adjusted to match exposure to what the light meter thinks would be an appropriate value for the given exposure.

So, short answer. ISO is what is adjusted.

          1. No it is not. When in auto iso and manual T and F, the compensation actually makes sense.

          2. Initially i had the same reaction as you, until some FR member pointed out that with Auto iso one has a third exposure parameter. Many cameras do not take this into account, i think.
