Björn: I am owning an X-E1 and have designed a custom grip via Shapeways which is a bit more affordable than the one offered by Fuji and meets my taste in terms of ergonomics more accurately because it makes the cam feel a little bit more like a DSLR. You can take a look at it here!

  1. Death of Kaizen? If it is dead, Fuji have nothing to offer but aperture rings on some of its lenses, and now Panasonic and even Sony have those.

    1. Are you sure they have nothing to offer? The cameras are pretty damn nice. Perhaps you should ask yourself whether you have anything to offer in terms of photographs.

While everyone, including myself, look forward to improvements, we should all be thankful that we have cameras – I sure as heck couldn’t produce one.

  2. X-Pro2 needs more improvements than a few rumored. Here they are:

    • Improved and bigger VF
    • -3EV focusing (at least -2EV) for low light AF shootong
    • All PDAF points + fast manual AF point selection
    • Improved AF-C + 8 fps at least
    • Dedicated Back-AF button placed near thumb
    • Better placed and AE lock button
    • Improved DR
    • Not cheated ISO
    • All buttons customable allowing to asign any feature
    • 1/250s X-Sync
    • +/- 1/3s braketing
    • Tilt LCD (for low/high level shooting)
    • Add NR setting to OFF
    • Allow “Blur Warning” mark turn OFF
    • More Fn buttons, best 4 with one at front
    • Bigger grip
    • 2-3 customizable User settings (U1 / U2 / U3) with switch on top or back body.
    • Improved focus peaking and split image from X-T1 fore more precise focusing

    1. Please just stop posting that all the time! It’s annoying!
Some of those will surely be on the X-Pro2. Some are very likely. Some would be very nice. Some are just your personal wishes. Very few are anything near important enough for X-Pro2 to “need” them.

At last you took the ridiculous X-Sync demand off that list…
Oh, and 8 fps “needed”? For all those future X-Pro2 owners shooting BIF? Rock’n’Roll!

      1. All wishes are personal, also your “non important needs for X-Pro2” with probably 1 fps. Stop crying on ones wishes. It’s amusing.

        1. George, if you called them “wishes” they would still be annoying but at least it would be honest. Thing is, you didn’t.

        2. BTW George (or should I call you Marcus?), it’s called “dissociative identity disorder” and can be treated!

      2. +1 for George from me. A lot of his remarks point to quite annoying, distracting or even poorly conceived matters. Is this so much exaggeration for a camera that will be likely close to the 2K-price tag? I’d add a better flash FW instead, one that really keeps intelligent track of the subjects and adjusts the flash power accordingly and makes use of the IR-assist light. If others can do this right, Fuji has to improve. Most of all, yes, yes, I know it starts bothering everyone but I hope Fuji does a way better X-Trans RAW implementation with a new sensor. The 16MP caused way too many issues and 100% market support from day one without artifacts, that would be a refreshing surprise. The only exaggeration I see in Georges mail are all those user settings and custom buttons… but I indeed find Fuji’s firmware not the best concept, there is ground for a profound UI improvement.

        1. ChatNoir, you got me wrong. I myself wish for most of the things on his list and I think many of them should be expected. It’s just that it’s incredibly annoying if he posts the same comment in so many threads. Also he always pretends like the X-Pro2 will fail if it doesn’t have all of those. All it really needs is:
          – All the current features from X-T1 (especially AF) and X100T (especially new VF)
          – New sensor (though it could be rather successful even with the old sensor)
          – Finally perfect Adobe X-Trans support (or no more X-Trans, I’m not convinced the benefits are enough to justify the added annoyance in workflow)

But I do think some of his wishes are ridiculous:
          – 8 fps on a rangefinder?
          – “Not cheated ISO” Who freaking cares except for internet comparisons? Go take some pictures!
          – 1/250 flash sync. I’ve repeatedly heard people complain about the slow sync but I’ve not once had anyone tell me what 1/250th will do that 1/180th doesn’t. Still won’t let you kill bright sunlight (which looks fake anyways) and for studio use I see no point. Happy to correct myself if someone finally enlightens me…

Oh, and George aka Marcus has now even started to use two different accounts and replies to his own comment. That’s pretty funny.

          1. 8FPS is not a requirement, indeed. The cheated ISO setting… yes, comparing pictures of DSLRs gear with Fuji still shows quite some difference and I personally don’t agree with some of the extraordinary looking ISO findings some blogs and reviews claim. Fuji’s not bad, but they are no winners in this area either, even in the APS/C realm. But it’s today not fully Fuji’s vocation to be the best in this area. Leica isn’t either. We won’t look to much at M43. But 1 or 2 stops more would be very welcome, if we pay about the price of a FF camera, the quality to be expected must be at an equal level. The flash sync… please give us 1/250 in 2015. Btw, in my X-Pro1 I really had a lot of trouble even at 1/180. It was more a spec than a reality, I’m afraid. I really stopped using the X-Pro1 for this purpose (studio-work) after a while, since its flash behavior was in my eyes very weird and sometimes completely bugged. Fuji can only do better in next models.

          2. Won’t go over everything. I get wonderful results from that ancient 😉 sensor and that’s all that counts for me. The quality is better than the D700 sensor which was the camera of my dreams just a few years ago. Just because better exists doesn’t mean I need it. Still, any advances are welcome of course.

I don’t think for one second about the naming of the ISO, doesn’t do a thing to your images if you’re not using an external light meter.

You still haven’t exactly explained to me where 1/180 limits you in the studio? Killing ambient?

Concerning FF price I agree with you. I see no reason why the X-Pro line should cost more than the X100 line. The technology inside will mostly be the same. The X-Pro will have higher material costs due to its size and will most likely be weather sealed but the X100 has a lens on it that is surely not cheap. So they should really sit at the same price point.

          3. Oh Jano, you sound like a blind Fuji fanboy if you noticed first time such wish for X-cams like l listed 1/250 flash sync, not cheated ISO, better AF than in X-T1, improved DR, +/- 1/3s braketing, improved AF-C, better camera customisation, etc. Oh yeah, your need of X-Pro2 improvement is very convincing – “very few are anything near important enough for X-Pro2 to “need” them”.
And Jano, or should I call you Fuji PR?

          4. I’d love to work for Fuji!
But I’d prefer helping them develop a good menu system and creating a great iPad app for post-processing than work on PR. PR is not my thing.

            Sadly, they haven’t asked 😉

  3. Have any of you tried synching above 180? I shoot my XT1 regularly at 250 regularly no problem. 250 is decent, need more? then get a X100t or buy a hss flash (nissin)
