digicame-info leaked the first official images of the XF35mmF2. This time we see it mounted on a X-T1.
A part from that, they also leaked the price in Yen:
- XF35mm F2 estimated retail price of R WR is ¥ 48,000 (tax included). The color is black and silver.
- Teleconverter XF1.4X estimated retail price of TC WR is ¥ 59,000 (tax included).
As rumored here, in Europe the price should be of €399 for the XF 35mmF2 WR and of €449 for the 1.4x Teleconverter.
Even Fujifilm itself posts wrong rumors now and then. ? In fact, unlike predicted by Fujfilm Australia, there has not been any announcement between the 16th and 18th of October.
According to FR-sources, the announcement will be on October 21… that’s the real reason, why Marty McFly made his time travel exactly to this date of the future 🙂

yea thats great…but what about the lens hood. Will it be supplied with the lens as no one so far has any photos of it….just hoping its not stupidly large, which would defect the smaller lens keeping the ovf clear on the x pro 1/@’s
To see the lens hood click the following link and check out the google cached version http://www.fujirumors.com/creamy-bokeh-xf35mmf2-samples-online-and-see-the-lens-mounted-on-a-fuji-x-t10/

followed the link thank you,but surely thats not the official lens hood..??
That lens hood is screwed into the filter thread when you look at it and its not using the lens hood bayonet mounting which can be very clearly seen in the photo..
That’s the way it is. And it doesn’t make sense 😉
I’m hoping this lens comes with 2 hoods – the small rangefinder hood that we’ve already seen, and a second, larger (better light-blocking) hood that attaches via the bayonet mount.
Or at least I hope that a second, larger (better light-blocking) hood that attaches via the bayonet mount is available for separate purchase.
This lens existence makes no sense.
It makes sens if it was smaller, but its size is almost same as f/1.4, it’s dissapointing.
Would have been a home run, if it had gone over the fence.
Take your 35/1.4 into the shower with you and you will know why the 35/2 is “rather big”…
It will be perfect for my X-PRO2 🙂
Why will it be more perfect than your 35mm f1.4?
because of weather sealing and even smaller size.
I can’t believe that’s the hood. The lens has a bayonet mount for a hood, and the one pictures in that link is a screw in hood.
But that’s it. Maybe Fuji will offer different lens hoods?
typing to quick before boss came,so i apologise for previous spelling errors..lol
i ment i hope the lens hood is not to big so it blocks the x pro 1 + 2 ovf
It’s black, and it looks like a lens, no real surprise then.
The shape is kind of…rapy :DD
Launched on the 21st October, Trafalgar Day in the UK, so another winner then, but it might not be too popular in France 🙂
As a Frenchman – I must say – funny !
ah well you Brits are weird : you always celebrate famous defeats : Trafalgar Square, Waterloo Station … 🙂 🙂
Is not THAT ugly. I mean, if it’s made with the XPRO2 on mind could be kind of great. Hope it’s sharp enough. And I’d like to compare it to the Summicron..
Agreed, strange looking lens. I assume it’s targeted for budget consumers, ie below < $300, otherwise, don't make much sense. I got my rarely used 35mm f/1.4 for $US 350.
Oh well, keep moving folks, nothing to see here. . .
who cares!!! just show me the next X100 so I can get really excited
Fuji is in a rather awkward situation now. They are releasing a lens whose existence only makes sense for a rangefinder camera. Yet the only RF body Fuji is currently offering is completely outdated so they can’t possibly mount the lens on it for the marketing material. So we see it mounted on the X-T10 and X-T1 and on both bodies it looks kind of wrong.
That being said: in black this thing looks much better to my eyes than in silver. Silver looks so cheap in digital images.
I think it would have been smarter to release the 120mm macro or 100 – 400mm right now, and release this with the X-Pro 2, whenever that gets released. Looking forward to the X-Pro 2 though. And, if this is sharper than the 35mm f/1.4R, it could be a great lens.
At least “a real macro” is the one thing the X system is still desperately lacking…I somehow wonder why Fuji thinks this can wait till the end of 2016…(if it’s on time anyway…)
Ugly. That’ll better be a good lens then to compensate for its weird look.
Where’s the x100t firmware upgrade. Have you forgotten the x100t?
Ugly!. I want a 23f2.0 for the X-T2 without that tapering and/or a fast focussing 35f1.4 Mark II version.
X-T2 will be the new flagship (soon after the X-Pro2) !
I waited a little bit to see the reaction here… and yes, confirmed – ugly.
If this whole design is meant not to block the OVF in the pro2, I’d like to guess the actual usage: 10%? 20%? And let’s be realistic – this lens will be used on all cameras, the vast majority having EVF.
Agree. Function over (ugly) form here.
Well…you won’t see it while looking through the EVF anyway… 😉
And during street shooting puzzled passers-by (“What an ugly lens is that…?”) might give you some interesting facial expressions lol…
The fact that it’s so obviously designed for a rangefinder body with hybrid finder and is available in graphite silver suggests there will be graphite silver xpro2
I don’t know. I kind of like the look. It’s a little weird for sure, but it’s different. Could image the next 23mm could look the same and Fuji is testing us 🙂
I like it, too. I wonder how many negative reactions are because it’s unexpected, rather than actually unattractive. In 6-12 months people may be calling it a classic.
The look reminds me of the Olympus 45mm f/1.8.
Olympus 45mm f/1.8 is rubbish
How so?
It’s a third of the price as this lens.
It’s sharp.
Has adequate bokeh.
It’s comparatively small and light.
45mm is great. The Pano 42.5 1.7, even better, and still cheap.
I like the look of the lens. Reminds me of one of those Pentax limited lenses.

Wow. We’ve known what it’d look like for ages. No idea how it’ll perform. And now such hate. First it’s too big – then it’s ugly – then it’s too expensive – then it’s too fast, or not slow enough. Then it’s too designed for a rangefinder. Yes, Fuji’s designers sit around and scheme on how to annoy us all. No doubt that’s their mission. Waa waa waa. Wait, …. waaa.
It’s not surprising at all, as all rumour sites are the same for the same reason, most of the people posting are either trolls in love with another brand or paid by other manufacturers to denigrate the competitors products.
The last Fuji lens introduction, the 90mm f2, was a classic case of this. Most posters screaming that it was utterly and completely useless because it didn’t have OIS and/or was far too big. Those who understood that Fuji’s aim was the production of a portrait lens of superb optical and mechanical quality; that OIS would degrade the optical quality and mostly metal construction would be weighty, did as I did and bought it.
And if it isn’t the lens for you – fine. I really get that everyone has their own wish list and that folks might be disappointed that a lens doesn’t meet it – but OK, I won’t buy it if I don’t like it. I will if I do. But I’m pretty skeptical of your comment that the manufacturers pay trolls to work on these sites. Feels urban legend-y to me. Of course if it’s true, all you manufacturers listening in should feel free to contact me. 🙂
Somehow it seemed to look better on the X-T10…but then I guess the X-T10 looks more “retro” than the X-T1 in the first place. Maybe it’s just the angle of view lol.
I guess it’s unfair to compare the 35/2 to the 35/1.4 price wise. People tend to forget that the XF 35/1.4 is incredibly low priced for a 35/1.4. Just compare it to the 35/1.4s of the other brands. With the noble exception of the Sigma 35/1.4 ART (which is still quite more expensive than the Fuji), all those other lenses are way beyond 1.000 USD/€…I actually wonder whether the asking price of the FX is covering the production costs…
You are comparing apples to oranges, but nevermind…..
Compare it to FF 50mm f/1.8 and it becomes quite expensive.
I find this to be a functional design. The tapered shape allows quick tactile positioning using the shoulder to immediately locate the aperture and the broader focusing ring easy to grasp at the end of the lens barrel. The f/2 aperture is sufficient for outdoor work (e.g. street photography) and the smaller lighter profile makes for a less obtrusive lens. If it is indeed WR, then it’s a great choice for that outdoor/hiking/street/travel role where environmental conditions are often problematic.
I’m looking at for a trail lens, one to use while hiking (often in desert environs where dust and grit can be a problem.
I’m not sure what a lens is supposed to look like and there seems to be others in that same boat, but to me this lens looks highly practical. That’s what I want from my tools.
What I don’t see right now is the possibility of the zone focus markings under the focusing ring. Hopefully that function is similar to the 14mm f/2.8 XF.
Sorry, I see the posting does indicate WR in the bullets as well as in the quoted digicame-info article. I should read more than the title.
Do you want lens to take pictures WITH it or OF it? Now Fuji make it 23mm and I’d be reaching for my wallet…
That would eat into the market share of the X100 line, which is the only X body unit they can actually make real money on. Making a smaller 23mm lens for their IL bodies would be throwing money away and harming their own products. No company is that stupid.
It’s a bit funny.
Everytime a new lens was released in the past months/years many were screaming: “It’s way too big!”
And now Fuji builds a smaller, lighter lens. And people are complaining: “Who needs it?!”
Classic Fujirumors comments ….
Problem is it’s not really smaller than 35 f/1.4 nor cheaper.
the price is said to be 399€. The f/1.4 is 579€ here in Europe. That’s quite a difference!
And it will turn out smaller too. A bit of length and some diameter – the volume is down significantly (and it will be lighter too!)
Looks good in black. WR in interesting but my X-E1 isn’t WR then…
For em the question is what it gains me over the 27mm pancake, which is a very sweet lens. 27-35….. I’m not sure I’m enough of a photographer for that level of subtlety. But maybe I’m wrong.
I surely hope they will sell X-PRO2 + 35mm/f2 as a set that saves me hundred or two bucks (than buy them separately)
Silver/black X-Pro2+silver 35mm, must be beautiful
