So here we are again: the next firmware update is online here. It will bring your (and my) Fujifilm X-E2 to the next level and a few steps closer to the Fujifilm X-T1. Thank you Fuji!

Here is the list of improvements.

  • Enhanced EVF including the world’s fastest* display lag-time of 0.005 seconds
  • Selectable colors for outlines for Focus Peak Highlight
  • Added functions that can be assigned to the Fn (Function) button
  • Added “Suppressed Flash” option when selecting flash mode
  • The phenomenon is fixed that in FILM SIMULATION Bracketing, third picture is recorded as “ASTIA” although the third picture is set as “PRO Neg. Hi”.

For a first look at the new firmware check out Rico’s X-pert corner special “X-E2: Behind the firmware 2:00“.

Now let the Kaizen download party begin and download the new X-E2 firmware here.

NOTE: If you have problems to see the firmware ver. 3.01 then you probably have to clean the cache! The easiest way is described in Rico’s X-pert corner post “Tips for Updating your Firmware”: “just delete your browser cache or force your browser to reload and refresh the page by, for example, holding the Alt or Option key while clicking on Reload.”

        1. I tried deleting the cache and a new browser but no luck. Odd I even ran the update I downloaded just to make sure and it was indeed 1.2. But I had a friend who managed to get it from another link and drop boxed it to me. So all is well. Thanks.

  1. Argh! I guess that it means we won’t get the same upgrades for the X100s… or they would have included that in the firmware upgrade last week…

  2. many thanks, fuji-sans.
    great fw upgrade.
keep up the great fuji kaizan philosophy.
you have a lifetime fuji fan in me.
    btw,
i notice the XF new lenses (23mm/56mm) seem to have a higher incident
of inner lens element scratches and dust particles. perhaps, you can
check and verify if this a real QA issue. I rejected a few 56mm copies
at my local fuji shop and am waiting for the next shipment batch.
hopefully, they are good this time.
anybody else out there experiencing this too?

  3. Any rumors on more firmware love for the X-E1 or X-Pro1, or are they too long in the tooth now that we have the X-E2 and X–T1?

    1. Fuji updated the 3 years old X100 with a major upgrade (focus peaking & Co)… so there is definitely hope also for the X-E1 and X-PRO1.

          1. Would also appreciate the ability to delete an image when zoomed in on playback. That issue, to me, is the X-E1’s greatest shortcoming.

  4. Any news on these features for the X100S. Same sensor and processor. I can’t see why not (maybe not same EVF?).

  5. It may sound harsh, but I don’t want to call this Kai Zen… but pure damage control. Inaptitude to do things first time right in this X-series product line. And we can only note: the 14 FW updates where I have gone to for my X-Pro1 have come to an end. Now the Fuji marketeers believe I’m ready to spend my money on an X-T1 or maybe, the X-Pro2 on the horizon. But I’m not part of that game, that Fuji tries to play with their clients. I’m likely the only one on this forum that doesn’t make a jump in the air with a new model and a new firmware. We have 2 years been complaining about shutter lag and quirks, and some on this forum only laughed at it. They ditched their DSLR because Fuji was so much better, well I didn’t. And I know why – reliability and credibility has a name & a cost.
