[UPDATE: with samples] Hands-on Photos of the Mitakon 42.5mm f/1.2 + 24mm f/1.7 + 50mm f/0.95

Fujirumors’ window to Photokina: DAY 4

_ _ _

Mitakon recently announced two more X-mount lenses: after the Mitakon 35mm f/0.95 (the fastest lens for Fuji X-cameras after the Ibelux 0.85 (read my humble Ibelux review here), they now offer also the 42.5mm f/1.2 (price $359), the 24mm f/1.7 (price $289) and 50mm f/0.95 (price $899)… and updated the 35mm as well!

Now photozine published the first hands-on photos.

[UPDATE] Sample photos (on a Sony A7) taken with the 24mmF1.7 at zyoptics here. Sample photos (on a GH4) taken with the 42.5mmF1.2 at zyoptics here.

      1. I can’t recall ever seeing a detailed X100 series camera review that didn’t call out the benefits of that camera’s leaf shutter (quiet, less vibration, high speed flash sync). Fuji’s audience clearly recognizes it and it factors in to purchase decisions of the X100/s/t. I’m with you on the APD. Nice, but not as interesting to me.

          1. To me is much more important than OVF, and I don’t think I’m the only one.
I think Fuji underestimate the leaf shutter, they must think the OVF is the main selling point of this little camera and keep pushing it wich is a good thing tho, because they couldn’t do much more with the leaf shutter anyway, (perfect as it is) except one thing, as you guys said introduce new lenses with it.
I don’t think the cameras existing shutter would be a problem, it is always open anyway.

      2. Already a 56mm and a 35mm lens with leaf shutter would be enough for most. Though when thinking that Fuji cameras still start at ISO 200 with a sync speed of 1/180th I see how Fuji could support Flash shooters in an easier way (thinking about the d810 with base ISO 64 and Sync speed of 1/250th, that’s like 2,5 stops difference alone through camera electronics & mechanics + 1 stop shallower DOF through the longer lenses used in 35mm). Should Fuji be able to lower their ISO and offer leaf shutter lenses they would be able to offer a distinguishable advantage over other small sensor formats (35mm, APS-C, M43) especially for professionals.

        1. Lowering the base ISO will inevitably decrease a usable high ISO. And that, unfortunately, is just as bad for the measurebators as a “low pixel count” of a 16mp sensor. In short: not gonna fly.

          1. I’m not sure about that, and even if, the measurebators will only look at the spec sheet where the usable ISO range will have been expanded to unusable ISO 100000 and will be totally hooked 😉

  1. is the 50mm 0.95 also going to be released in a fuji X mount? the 42.5mm F1.2 is nice a small though and would look really nice on a Xpro1 body.

  2. I wish they’d post samples from the lens, not just photos of the lens in someone’s hand! 😉 They look compact and nice!

  3. on the Oly cameras the fast lens will be stabilized (as any other primes)-on the Fuji cameras it will be not so Fuji only has DOF advantage, the low light capability will be clear advantage of most m43 cameras…..and that (lack of OIS on Fuji primes) is pain for some of us
