A source, who was right in the past, told us that the X-T2 will be announced from 2 to 4 months after the X-PRO2. Remember, the X-PRO2 announcement could be in late 2015 (according to this rumor).
It all looks like we are going to have an epic battle: X-PRO2 Vs. X-T2, Rangefinder Vs. DSLR-shape, HVF Vs. EVF…
FXF discussion: If the X-PRO2 and X-T2 were both released tomorrow, which one would you go for?

X-T2 competes against a whole bunch of “SLR lookalikes” out there.
X-Pro2 competes only against X-Pro1.
The X-Pro2—assuming it isn’t completely reinventing the wheel—competes with the X-E2/3, X100T, X-T1/2 and, if the shopper has a larger budget, every Leica. The Pro1 has always been a hard sell. The Pro2 is unlikely to be any different, especially if the specs are as underwhelming as ‘rumours’ suggest and if the price is as high as I’ve been told to fear.
True, but I hardly see the big benefit of the X-Pro line for people using the big zooms and longer/shorter lenses than 18/60. The OVF just has the same downsides as the Leica rangefinder, regarding useable focal lengths. If you have to switch to EVF for the majority of your shots, why even bother getting the Pro over the T, I wonder
Exactly why the x t-1/2 was developed. The x pro series was developed for the rangefinder crowd. Its for those who understand the advantages and limitations of that kind of system. When x pro came out many joined the bandwagon because it was different than the usual can ikon offering but quickly got disappointed because they didn’t understand the system. For those that did, they were happy even with its shortcomings as it was an affordable digital alternative to Leica
My impression regarding the use of a hybrid OVF in the X-Pro1 is that it was the result of FUJIFILM wanting to make cameras again, but (a) not wanting to compete with DSLR’s and (b) not having an actually usable EVF at that time.
You are precisely right, but their target was directly aimed at Leica. Reason being they wanted to re establish themselves into a premium brand and what better way to do that by capturing the void in the market- those who wanted a leica but clearly cannot or not willing to spend the money.
The x series since conception was way ahead of the technology available upon introduction. But now slowly it is catching up with better faster processors, evf etc.
Many commented that the first gen was at best, a beta version of a camera released to the public but I believe it was a sink or swim scenario for fuji. Do they wait till evrything is perfect and run the risk of waiting too late and going the way of Kodak (at least for the camera division) or release it and pique the interest of the market and stay relevant till they develop it into a mature product.
Did you forget about a company called Leica?
(not comparing price of course)
Leica makes an autofocus interchangeable lens camera with a hybrid viewfinder? That’s new.
and Leica
They need to give us time to enjoy the cameras! Could be worse though, could be Sony releasing a new flagship every 2 weeks!
It’s not necessary they give it to you, just take your time and enjoy what you’ve got…and if needed take a couple of anti GAS pills. 🙂 🙂
It’s nice to get new toys but at the pace they come to the market it is not likely you can buy them all, besides we watch people crying for more and demanding manufacturers to cover all the competition offers as if their needs can no longer be filled by the existing stuff…bought just a couple of months before.
Makes perfect sense. Fuji should make them internally identical (easy firmware etc etc) and let the market decide what they like. If both are successful keep both for future generations, while if one is the clear winner only continue with that line
It’s interesting that so many manufacturers are trying this out: Canon with the 5DS, 5DSR and soon the 5D4; Sony with about twenty different models of A7; Fuji itself with the X-E2 & X-T10 and, in theory, the X-T2 & X-Pro2. Makes it seem like nobody really has a clue what the market wants anymore and they’re all a bit too scared to back one particular thing.
Absolutely- if reuse of the same internals gets them more market share at little cost to them, you’d be foolish not to.
I agree. Personally I believe Fuji were willing to ditch the xpro after the success of the xt1, but since there so such a vocal following they have decided to produce it. I reckon they should have released a xpro1s (pretty much an xt1 in the xpro shell), as the longer the delay the higher everyone’s expectations are. Sony hit the ball out of the park today win the a7r2, and I’m not sure what Fuji can do to satisfy these unrealistic high demands.
The particular thing of Fuji are lenses. They produce bodies for different types of shooting in order to sell lenses.
I believe the problem is that everybody on the Internet has a voice and wants something different. However, I doubt if that “want” actually in the end results in a purchase if the product is made available. For example, the current discussion (and want) that the 100-400mm must be f/4 or it’s a “no sale”. With this in mind, I truly question the viability of the X-Pro2 and the need within the next two years for the X-T2.
Absolutely. Loads of people on loads of websites scream for another Pro and how the T line is a load of junk nobody wants, then they actually get them in shops and the Pro1 bombs and the T1 is the best-selling body Fuji makes. Moreso than with any other manufacturer, there seems to be a gargantuan discrepancy between what Fuji users say they want and what Fuji actually manages to sell.
I can easily see the Pro2 taking off and the T2 being dead on arrival, or the Pro2 not getting anywhere and the T2 flying off the shelves, but I don’t see both selling well alongside each other. Few people buy second bodies and fewer still buy two different bodies. Maybe Fuji accept the loss this one time for the sake of getting a definitive, clear idea of which model to carry on with.
“…there seems to be a gargantuan discrepancy between what Fuji users say they want and what Fuji actually manages to sell.”
Sort of like how there’s a gargantuan discrepancy between what women SAY they want in a man, and the type of man they actually go for. lol.
… No. Just no.
X-t2 with 33mm f1 would be GOLD
too late..
checkmate by sony a7r II 😉
unless Fuji MF mirrorless is imminent
Crappy handling, poor customer service and no lens line-up?
That’s not what I call check-mate.
You are half right. The lens line up is growing with some good zeiss glass. Sony have poor customer service and you can forget Fuji like firmware updates. The handling has improved with sony cameras but still not as good as Fuji. However what a powerhouse of technology the sony 7rII is. The aa filter is not needed any more even with a normal bayer sensor. Sony have made a real leap forward with this camera. They keep updating every year with large improvements in sensor tech etc. A lot is riding on the Xpro2 for Fuji. The really have to knock it out of the park (metaphorically speaking)
Huh, I’ve been told to not expect anything new in the T line until the end of 2016, but okay. I suppose if it’s anounced at the long end of that, 4 months after the Pro2 is released, and then you’ve got 4-6 months until it’s on shelves, that just about lines up. Still, 2-4 months after the Pro2 sounds very optimistic compared to what I’ve heard.
Much more interested in the X100T replacement with the new sensor. Any news on that?
Wat “new sensor” shall we anticipate?
That seems to be the point, after so many talks and rumors.
And shall we talk only about sensor technologies or Leica’s last move can drive Fujifilm to reconsider how their next fixed lens camera will be?
Yes, I think Fuji should consider a full frame line as well. And, they could start with a fixed-lens version first.
If the X-Pro 2 were to come with the sensor in the D810 and 3 fast primes at release, I would definitely buy it. While I am interested in the APS-C X-Pro 2, it will need to be a significant improvement over my X-Pro 1 in image quality and be priced right (below $1500) for me to buy it.
Pretty obvious that the XP2 will have a APS sized sensor, the XT2 and X100U (or whatever they call it) will probably have the same sensor as well, and it will be a Sony 24MP as in the A6000, but with X-Trans.
X-Pro 2 will be an APS-C sensor, almost certainly with 24 megapixels. The only question is what KIND of APS-C sensor: BSI, stacked, organic … or some other type/combination of advance?
That means a complete new line of products. I don’t think it would happen too soon.
There will surely be a new sensor. Don’t know what it will look like. But I’d like to understand: whatever the new sensor is, will Fuji be continuing the X100 line? If so, how soon after the X-Pro 2 release?
Two words: Leica Q.
If it was only priced at $2999.99 I would sell my 6D and all the lenses and get it. At $4300 as great as it looks and as affordable for a Leica it is I cannot justify buying it. Until the price drops under $3000 I can only dream about it.
Consider RX1 still sells at $2800. This Germa camera is not priced overly high.
It’s not , but for my budget it is. It’s a very affordable Leica. I was actually surprised at the price as I expected it to hit the $5999 price. Leica, full frame, amazing Summilux f1.7 lens and a great EVF. If I had the money I would order it in a heartbeat. The only thing in my personal opinion is that they should have used a 35mm lens instead of 28mm as I find the 35mm to be more versatile.
Rangefinder folks seems to favor 28mm more than 35mm. I still recall the 5 primes of Contax G system, 16, 21, 28, 45, and 90.
It depends on personal vision. Some people prefer to use wider lenses like 24,28,35 and others love the look of a 50mm. I personally love 24mm but it’s a hard lens to shoot with as you really have to work on a composition and the distortion doesn’t really make pleasing portraits. 35mm seems to be the best of both ends, wide enough for street and decent enough for portraits. As a fixed lens camera I would prefer 35mm since it’s the most versatile lens in my opinion.
I can’t understand why camera makers can’t make a modern full frame camera with lenses and body the same size as the Contax G camera. Those auto-focus lenses were so compact and pocketable.
Because pixelpeeper wants sharp lens and contax G are not sharp enough.
Imagine this Sony sensor (A7rII sensor) and autofocus in a X100 style body from Fuji with fuji handling, 35mm lens, hybrid view finder and fuji customer support. Now that would be awesome
That would be a dream camera!
I hope for a full frame sensor although knowing Fuji it’s not going to happen. X200 with FF sensor and a 35mm lens would crush Leica Q but Fuji doesn’t have the balls to do it.
It’s really ridiculous how Fuji desperately tries to keep their cameras small.
The x100 series should get what happened to the Mini when overtaken by BMW, a substantial increase in size!
There will be no full frame sensor from Fuji. Period. Not anytime soon, anyway. Focus is on APS-C X-Series for the foreseeable future.
I guess what they mean is: the X-Pro2 will probably be announced around Photokina but shipping later, while the X-T2 will be announced early 2016 and ship only a few weeks later
Photokina only takes place every 2 years. So next would be in 2016
Yeah, I know. What I meant is: End of September is for me Photokina Time. An announcement around that time would be likely
End of September is potato chips time for me.
Let’s hope they include the BSI, IBIS, and high res. sensor like the new Sony A7RII (and is that a global shutter too)
first let’s see what BSI with big pixel pitch really delivers.
and the Sony sensor is not a global shutter sensor at all!
I see they only say that the readout speed is greatly enhanced. However, if it is fast enough then perhaps a global shutter is not needed. Sony purports that its readout speed is sufficient to capture a swinging golf club without distortion. I wonder if it is fast enough to overcome the banding you can get in artificial light with the electronic shutter on the X-T1? I love the electronic shutter on the X-T1 and use it a lot, outdoor wide aperture shots and silent captures for candid portraits etc. It is already just about perfect and the distortion and banding are easy enough to avoid once you know the limitations.
Exactly and correct. 🙂
Please, please, please no Giga-Zillion pixels
I think the sweat spot is 24 MP I like the feature set of the A7RII but I think we can all do without the price $3200 USD body only!!
It’s a pro camera. I also think it’s a huge step forward but somehow price is reasonable.
How is it a pro camera when it is limited to 11+7 bit lossy compressed RAW files. Very nice features and likely a very nice sensor, but shockingly crippled by this.
It has full 14bit support.
Apparently they claim 14-bit, when in fact it is llimited to lossy compressed RAW files. That is why the image quality from Nikon D810/D800E is better than the A7r, despite using similar, if not the same, sensors. It is shocking that they limit their cameras that way.
If they didn’t limit it in that way, I would consider getting one.
I will look into this later. My friends either love Sony or single number series from nikon. To me $ony is not outstandingly good in every aspect, but not the worst either. It’s very nice in average.
I also wonder how this bit readout affect color depth. A7r is among top tiers although it has compressed raw.
Nowhere does it say the A7r Mark II has a global shutter. Sorry.
Just returned from a local camera-store that’s also very enthusiastic about the whole Fuji X line. They assured me that no X-Pro2 or X-T2 was going to be released within the next 2 years according to their Fuji sales rep.
Then again, I tend to take these informational bits by salesmen with a bucket of salt as they’re usually trying to sell camera’s now and would prefer me NOT to wait for a new X-Pro camera. So no idea how accurate the info is, I’ll wait it out as long as I can keep my GAS under control (and if not, an X-T1 next to my X-Pro1 won’t look that bad :))
My local camera shop, who is a premium Fuji reseller, was not aware of the X-T10 2 days before the announcement and had only vaguely heard about a possible firmware update for the X-T1. It goes to show that they are probably the worse possible place to get reliable information
Ture story: Last week I entered at a local store (not the one I usually go to), bought a bag, looked at the 16mm, and then asked:
Me: “What about the X-PRO2?”
Seller: “Mh… I don’t know… wait, I ask my boss… [he shouts]-Hey Boss, do we have the X-PRO2 available?”
I tell you, that made me laugh for half an hour 🙂
I went to a local Fuji camera store here in Taipei today, and they not even had a salesman. Empty store. Fake x100t’s on the boards. No wonder Fuji doesn’t sell much in Taiwan.
2 years looks like a long shot, I wouldn’t trust your source…. There is no way it will take another 2 years.
Just wait for the x-pro 3 and x-t3 they will be much better then the 1 or not yet announced 2.
Next 2 years? Well I should damn well hope so…
Sounds like they were trying to keep current models moving… There is no way the X-Trans II can last another two years! It already looks old when releasing new models.
Buy more lenses, if you can’t stop buying stuff.
“They assured me that no X-Pro2 or X-T2 was going to be released within the next 2 years according to their Fuji sales rep.”
Their sales rep is either lying, or misinformed. Typically the sales reps no nothing about product planning.
X-Pro 2 IS coming.
I vote for IBIS
Somehow I don’t believe this will happen
Didier, I share your fear.
X-Photography, I share your hope.
+1
Starfish – to be honest I am not sure I hope for Ibis. I can see the benefits but I can also imagine the complexity of IBIS on an interchangeable lens body as it is a compromise. VR/IS/OIS in lens can be tailored to a particular lens
It is going to be interesting to see how Fuji handles video in both the X-Pro2 and the X-T2. It is going to be ridiculously hard to compete with Sony after they just included 5 axis image stabilization and internal 4K into the sony a7r II. That is obviously going to be added into the sony a7s II making it a video monster!
And the Sony a7000 which will be the xt2/xpro2 direct competitor
unless you’re australian at a restaurant on a bad blind date and cry out “Check! mate!”
lol!
tha was a gud one “mate” 🙂
What they really lack of is a standard zoom with f/2.8. Those primes are great ang will happen before r2 comes out.
I wonder what sensor X-Pro2 will have after announcement of A7RII with new impresive Sony sensor (which will probably also receive a new A7000 – the main X-Pro2 competitor)… I doubt Sony sold it to Fuji what would suggests X-Pro2 will have old sensor with only new Fuji filter (X-Trans3) and it will not be as good as A7000… Hope it will be very good to…. and not related with X-Trans2.
Here, take a Kleenex.
…and the X-Pro2 will likely cost half as much as the Sony A7RII, while the A7000 is currently vaporware.
You want to talk vaporware…how about the X-Pro2!!! I gave up on that dream 6 months ago.
Fair enough; I’ve referred to the X-Pro2 as vaporware in the past, myself, but at least we’re seeing concrete rumors now.
have fun with your A7000
Just one question: what glas do you put in front of that camera exactly?
Zeiss: 12/2.8, 24/1.8, 32/1.8, 55/1.8, 50/2.8 Macro. Not enough?
not even close.
first: there is not a single lens faster than f/1.8 This means the new awesome sensor would need to be one stop better (snr wise this means 6db) than the “old sensor” Fuji uses/is going to use – you won’t even get 1/3 stop.
second: the 12mm, 32mm and 50mm can be had for fuji too and are outperformed by the Fuji counterparts.
So there are two lenses left: the 24mm (which really is a good lens, but the 23mm Fuji is 2/3 stops faster) and the 55mm, which is a FF lens and on APS-C is, again, inferior to the Fuji
Sony APS-C needs lenses – fast! If Sony won’t deliver it will be the same as with Nikon – APS-C will be for all those “not good enough”
Rubish. Sony APS-C does not need faster lenses than f/1.8, actually Fuji needs more f/1.8-2 primes because its fast primes are giants/monsters (that’s why I did not buy it besides 35mm). Fuji cheats on iso 2/3 stop, Sony 1/3. Zeiss 32/1.8 is sharper than fuji 35/1.4, 50/2.8 is even sharper than any Fuji prime, 12/2.8 is also very sharp, so you must be kidding or you are blind fuji fanboy. Fuji lenses are very good too, but they do not kick Zeiss.
So you’re a Zeiss fanboi then, right? You wrote quite a lot of bollocks. Better not think everything you state is true, will you?
Actually, your facts are cherry picked. Sony’s lenses (including the Zeiss variants) are pretty middle-of-the-pack performance-wise. The Zeiss 24-70 f/4, for example, is notoriously soft.
As a lineup, I’ll take Fuji’s glass over Sony’s in a heartbeat. Sony is an electronics manufacturer with no history in photography, and it shows.
Well, Ever heard of Minolta?? My first camera was a film based Minolta camers. Many years ago Sony bought Minolta, and this is the foundation of Sony’s camera business.
you do get the irony don’t you?
You say, that Fuji needs slower (lighter) glas, but over 50% of the lenses you named for Sony APS-C can be had for Fuji too.
And if I wanted slow glas, I could get a µFT or compact camera too.
And about 32 vs 35mm:
the Fuji has less distortion.
the Fuji has less vignetting (even wide open).
the Zeiss is sharper at the edge.
The Fuji is sharper (even at f/1.4 vs the Zeiss f/1.8) in the center (and stopped down they are equal)
the Fuji has less CAs.
for out of focus areas/bokeh everyone has different liking – for me the Fuji takes the win. Again
yes, the 50mm MACRO really is a sharp lens. So is the Fuji 60mm
And with the 90mm and upcoming 120mm we have 3 options, that offer much better value for the money than the Zeiss.
Lawyered
Hell, Sony needs full frame lenses – fast! Their entire lens lineup is a mish-mash of odds & ends, with no coherent strategy and very few optics that can be called stellar performers.
In all probability it will be X-Trans III and based upon Sony’s latest 24 megapixel APS-C chip wafer.
You don’t make better photos with betters sensors. There are still film photographers with old gear out there with stunning images. I don’t care about GAS. But I care about good glass and a good product design in terms of usability. 😉
I just want an OVF dang it! Have the XT2/XPRO2 share as much internal parts as possible and just give me the hybrid OVF. XPRO and the 18mm F2 and the upcoming 35mm F2 are all I want! (well, maybe a 56mm also) I have my Canon for Ultra-Wide landscape and Super-Tele Sports/Birding!
I will never get used to full-time EVF :/
I’m just betting on XPRO2 and 35/2 being released together.
Would like the XE-3.
lenses. you mean e-mount lenses? ever heard of Zeiss?
just google it.
http://briansmith.com/sony-a7-a7r-a7s-lens-guide/
Still i agree with you about the interface handling. It is dystopian sometimes.
BTW Be true to yourself. it IS check-mate pal. just look at the specs and compare to potential X-PRo2 pre-born Fatality!
Unless X-PRo2 is MF 😉
X-Pro 2 is NOT medium format, so let’s just kill that speculation right now.
Lenses are Sony’s Achilles’ Heel. Until they get that sorted, all the tech they can cram into these A7 bodies means nothing.
Sony is playing on numbers. A 40% boost in autofocus speed will be imperceptible. 42.2mp will be unnoticeable compared to the D810’s 36mp (and in fact the A7r Mark II’s 11+7 bit lossy compressed RAW files won’t look as good as the Nikon’s).
Sony is using the “throw sh*t at the wall and let’s see what sticks” approach. That’s one way to do it, I guess.
I hope fuji is going to try to replicate Laica Q’s simplistic design it in their new x200. Keep the hybrid viewfinder. No unnecessary buttons.
Are you still willing to pay $1,700 USD for x-pro1 just because it still kicks?
XPro2 naturally!
So I’ve had my eye on the X-T1 for months now. I currently have the x100s and 5d2. Been thinking about trading the 5d in for the XT-1… but now should I wait for the X-T2?
always buy what you use (not what you WANT to use), otherwise you’ll always wait for the next version. If you are OK with 5D2 then you can wait for XT-2, if you’re sick and tired of 5D2, then get XT-1
Very solid advice. Thanks!
Can you take pictures with “waiting”?
I’d say it depends on your lenses for the 5D2. For example, if you have only non-L lenses, then sell and buy into FUJIFILM now.
Sounds promising. New X-T2 it will be. Trade in one T1 and keep the other as a backup. Provided the T2 has a 24mp sensor, otherwise I’ll stick with the 2 T1’s for work.
A waste of resources, both these cameras. FUJIFILM should rather be working on firmware updates and more lenses.
I can’t tell if everyone who lurks here loves Fuji or hates Fuji. It’s kind of like a family dinner. Or a will reading for a rich relative we all dislike.
Although your comment was probably directed at nobody in general, I’d like to clarify. The X-T1 has lots of life still in it, especially if FUJIFILM keeps on tuning the firmware, as both Canon and Nikon (the two major players) have nothing of the same. However, it is in the area of lenses that FUJIFILM still lacks. I mean, why produce a 7D2 killer when you don’t offer the lenses (i.e. actual 400mm and 600mm, not “film equivalent”)?
C’mon Fuji, even Leica is getting better AF (Leica Q).
I know, this isn’t a fair comment, but isn’t this headline a bit like “Fuji to release new model after another new model is released”.
Come on man…this is a gear site if you don’t care about gear and want to use your 1970’s Olympia then good on ya but quit wasting your time here. Here’s a clue…all things being equal yes, I CAN get better images with a better sensor. If you already have the talent then it is reasonable to say you can produce better imagery with better gear.
If this were not the case then medium format would not exist.
You’re thinking like a consumer. Fuji has to think like a manufacturer. If you want to remain relevant then you have to remain competitive.
Not true. FUJIFILM as a manufacturer must think like a consumer, otherwise they will end up producing great products that nobody wants and thus doesn’t even sell one unit.
Sure. Giving your customers what they want goes without saying. What I’m saying is that you ignore the competition at your peril.
Business 101.
Again not true. Modern business is about co-operation and not competition.
In our world the prime example is Canon, who is in competition with everybody (“patent warfare”). The result of this is that now they don’t have access to Sony sensors and EPSON EVF’s and no matter how much they take notice of the competition it won’t help one iota because without those two components they can’t compete with OLYMPUS, FUJIFILM or SONY in the MILC arena.
Business 301.
Far from imminent. Far.
I agree that the X-Pro 2 needs to be a home run for Fuji (particularly after such a long wait). And while I admire Sony for shoving everything including the kitchen sink into the A7rII, it looks much better on first impression than it does upon closer examination … all things taken into account.
Despite what Sony would have you believe, there are very few working pros actually using A7 cameras in the field. Sony’s strength is in sensor manufacturing, not designing camera systems, and it shows.
But back to the X-Pro 2: Sony’s A7000, which has been delayed [coincidentally just like the X-Pro 2 😉 ], will be using the company’s latest 24mp APS-C sensor architecture, possibly with BSI or stacked technology. I think it’s quite possible that the X-Pro 2 will use the same chip architecture, but with Fuji’s X-Trans III treatment added to that.
Well if the x-pro2 comes dec 2015 then the x-t2 would be April 2016…I’m ok with that.
Hopefully IBIS, many more AF points, 4K video. Etc
I saw that the new Leica Q has a flash sync speed of 1/500 on a FF sensor, so hope Fuji can get to that also.
The Leica Q viewfinder shows, that the next generation with even better resolution is there – I would appreciate a even larger 4 MPx viewfinder for the X-T2.
I want better batteries to power up all the screens.
Absolutely.
The viewfinder of the q is only about 1mp so why do you think he is better than the current x-t1 viewfinder ?
They say 3.68 MPx – do you have other information?
I look at dpreview…they have a writeup on the Q
Its 3,68 million dot
Not mpixel one pixel is composed of 3 dot (RVB)
Seriously guys, why do you want 4K video when Fuji can’t even get decent quality with 1080p? Unless the X-T2 has a new and improved processor and a new and improved sensor (not nescessarely more mega pixels!) there probably is no need to upgrade for X-T1 users. My guess is that the x-pro2 will be the first new Fuji camera with a new generation processor and x-trans sensor.
Fuji has specifically said they are working on a much faster processor to deal with moire and produce 4K video…of course I want it…but Fuji specifically said they are working on it…so I will be expecting it on the X-Pro2 and X-t2…hey, Fuji really now needs to answer to the Sony A7RII…just in a 1.5 crop sensor.
Yeah. Let’s just hope the AF won’t be slower because the new processor will have to process a lot more pixels. I believe Fuji has come a long way with AF using the current processor, so would love to see those same algorithms working their magic with a more efficient processor. And hopefully we will see MUCH better battery life as well.
What I cannot understand is why do people purchase into the FUJIFILM system when it has mediocre video and then complain about the mediocre video. I mean, if video is that important to these people, then they should go buy a real video camera … or at least a Panasonic GH4.
I’d go with either one. However, they better have improved low light performance. I’m doing more event type photography in low light situations. That A7R II is looking pretty hot right now….
If the XT-2 would arrive at the end of 2016 or something like that, I could live with that, but the end of this year would be dissapointing. I just bought the camera ;).
HVF vs EVF? There would be a massive earth shake when it´s EVF with another EVF – but is there any reason for the X-Pro2 to be like the X-Pro1? And don´t say “when the finder is not in the upper left corner, it´s not a X-Pro”. How many X-Pro cameras in the long X-Pro range have been made so far? Wait – one? So there is no form rule for this model line? I´m really curious how the “2” will be, as there is no logical/technical reason to make it as a flat rangefinder styled body with a optical finder (there are many reasons for the users and customers of Fuji, but they don´t count for a manufacturer who want´s to hit the top pro market). I hope it will be the best possible camera, but I personally will buy the one with the better usability and grip for my large zooms, even when it should lack some advanced functions (easy to say, when we can be sure that the sensor, AF and processor will be the same). Hopefully there will be something also for the rangefinder lovers, maybe a X-E3 with X-Pro2 tech.
I know Patrick says that when the X-Pro2 is not rangefinder-styled, he quits this rumor site, but i think he would survive this situation and continue his work 😉
I heard that after XT2, there will be an XPro3 in 2-3 years. 😉
And by then, Canon still won’t have a mirrorless camera in the U.S.
Pleas, dear God.. IBIS with the new sensor.
Sweet news. I’d like to see the new body.
I hope they will make a bayer version, still waiting to upgrade my X-A1 as it’s still better than X-T1/T10 in picture IQ (if you use Lightroom)
I don’t really care about weather sealing (as it’s overrated, especially for the price difference)
let see what they put in both of them its has to be amazing spectacular camera definitely more mega pixels at least 24 and fast autofocus video 4k and faster sync speed 250 reason for that is competition, look at the new sony a7r II , i know price is high but if Fuji stay on 16mpx or go only 18-20mpx and poor video quality i can see plenty of professionals continue migrating to sony and we love fuji we wanna stay !!!
For Bayer, look at other brands. Fuji has already said they were dedicated to X-Trans layout now.
I dont really care for the video (who wants a large file for video anyway?) I just hope the AF is better, faster processor, weather sealed, more knobs and improved HVF/OVF, MAKE IT THE ULTIMATE STREET PHOTOGRAPHY CAMERA.
