Brandon Remler (Click here) is one of the first to show us some image samples taken with the new Fuji X-E1. He also tested the Leica 90mm Summicron on the new X-E1 (Click here to see these shots): “The camera works great with focus peeking at both 3x and 10x magnification. The EVF is bright and sharp!”
Two more tests: X PRO 1 test at Focus Numerique (Translation here). Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35 mm f/1.4 R lens test at Lenstip.

Wait what?? focus peaking? does he just mean checking focus at 3x and 10x or does the x-e1 actually has focus peaking as implemented in the sony nex line?
The X-E1 doesn’t have focus peaking—what is he talking about?
Focus Peaking! What!!
Yea! What the hell! If there is focus peaking on the X-E1, where the hell is it on the X-PRO1?!
The new firmware is supposed to bring the focus of the XP1 up to the same performance and functionality as the XE1.
So one of two things are true:
1. This guy doesn’t know what ‘focus peaking’ means OR
2. I am one very happy camper!
I am thinking he actually meant to say “focus check”, not focus peaking. It would make sense, as they have added the feature to 3x focus check now as well as 10x.
I think he meant “focus peeking”, not “focus peaking”
Yes I mis-spoke and meant peeking – not the literal function of peaking. I apologize.
Yes He wrote “No focus peaking is possible – yes I was just peeking.”
A little too late, hope is given yet
He has already admitted that he misspoke. He didn’t mean the technical “focus peaking” as used by Sony.
Does Sony license this feature (at least I’ve read somewhere that they’ve patented it) because it’s also on Ricoh camera AFAIK. If so I wish that Fuji talks to Sony and agree on licensing conditions. That would be really really great to have focus peaking on X cameras.
So, say, they can’t work a deal on focus peaking licensing. How about a simple light as a focus feedback system for manual focus. Does someone have a patent on that too? Is that too complicated for Fuji engineers? sigh
