Just a quick update regarding the Nissin i40 for Fuji X shipping delay (read here). An anonymous source told me that:
- The i40 should be available for Fuji X by late fall
This seems to be confirmed also by BHphoto, which now expects the Nissin for mid November.

I really hoped the delay was caused by Fuji licencing it from Nissin, rebranding and offering as an OEM option… But that window passed with yesterdays announcement, I guess 🙁
That’s what I had hoped as well. I think one of Fuji’s biggest deficits is a lack of good compact flashes. I would love to have something like the Leica 24D Flash, but for the Fuji system.
noob question: will this work with x100s?
This flash is interesting but I think the price point is off. Hopefully they aren’t trying to license it,another rebranded flash is a bad idea unless it’s from a better manufacturer. The EF-42 feels somewhat half assed to use.
The whole flash system really needs to be rethought. The list of cons nearly endless.
Could not agree more.
Hopefully they are working on AF illuminator.
Was there something wrong with the AF illuminator?
Fuji (and their flash system) could greatly benefit from the near-infrared “red grid” illuminator, just like the one used in SLRs. Unfortunately, currently we only have “high beam LED headlights” for illumination. Forget about being non-intrusive or discreet.
I keep mine off at all times.
yep, one on fuji flash is crocked. we’ve been screaming for fuji to fix this the longest time.
FYI, BH now shows availability as 12/29/14
