So it doesn’t come with body only?
Any idea about the U.S. retail price?
Sell the kit lens for $200 (RRP $350).
The set will be $599 is the USA, X-M1 set is $799
It’s an awesome lens though, it may be cheap, but the glass is superb.
Anything about X100 firmware update?
Can someone tell me again what is the difference between this and the X-M1 other than the sensor? I don’t think the average consumer would know or care anything about sensors anyway.

The difference is that X-A1 uses the usual Bayer color away + AA filter and the X-M1 uses Fuji’s X-Trans color away with no AA filter.
Bayer color away can create some artifact like moiré and aliasing while AA filter can make the image a bit soft, it means that a X-Trans sensor can be slightly better.
The sensor used on the X-A1 is basically the same used on Sony, Nikon, Pentax, Ricoh, etc. with the same APS-C sized sensor with 16MP – this should give you an idea of the performance.
Thanks Renato.
But one fo the biggest advantages here is the “Fuji colors”, in another words, Fuji’s JPEG engine and the lens ecosystem, since Fuji lenses options are superb and even the cheaper XC series have high quality optics, which is rare in kit lenses for entry-level cameras.
Average consumer care that the M1 has XTrans and A1 not. For 200 extra you get marginal increase in sharpness/resolution (for sure) and “film like” grain and rendering.
Me thinks average consumer not so stupid, see 200 extra for M1 and then buy Canon EOS M1 for 200 LESS than A1.
Hardly. The ‘average consumer’ buys whatever their closest photography-interested friends tell them to buy. Fuji is becoming VERY popular with the pro photographers all around here (and we have many). The cameras released today exist as a way for us pros impressed by Fuji to recommend the brand to newcomers who can’t spend as much. They will get far better cameras overall than the competition (based on our opinions) and therefore will totally ignore the price difference, at our behest.
This camera offering is a word of mouth sales ammunition.
At first I thought you were serious 😉
If I would _need_ an entry level camera with an interchangeable lens _today_ and I was on a budget … the Canon EOS M wins. I tried it recently, nice enough for the price. And its really nicer than the M1 I saw.
Let me put it this way, no touch screen, no sale. Does not help that it looks like ugly plastic camera.
Not sure where Fuji is going with this, other that it is what Fuji does best … lots of variations from a single platform. They did not _even_ change the sensor/resolution. Unbelievable! Its a 3+ year old sensor. And it shows what a rip off price the M1 is …
When Fuji starts to make a proper effort … please wake me up.
It’s very hard to take you seriously when you’re talking about paying actual money for an EOS M.
this is a little bigger copy of the Sony Nex5, and if I consider the pricing, I give the NEX5 the advantage, if I can live without flash, and many people can, you buy a NEX3N, or any A3000 for a better camera, simple and useful, and here you pay almost nuts. NEX3N is around 450$ with pancake zoom 16-50. A 3000 is 399 with simple lens. So, why pay 600 for a tourist camera that is another brand and looks different but is same on the end.
So this is where I start to get concerned about my Fuji investment. They’ve now unveiled all but 2 of their lenses on their roadmap. Have they not decided where it will go or is that it for lenses for now? Would also be good to know when they might tweak the XE-1 firmware again to add those extra promised features….
