All Fuji X-gear is now on sale in Canada until January 31 in stores like camera canada (via dealsrunner)

As a Canadian FR-reader wrote to me: “Looks like Canadian clearout just before CP+!” As you know, there will be weather sealed X coming at the end of Janaury. The rumored name is X-T1.

Here is the list of what I was able to find out until now… pretty nice specs list for now, don’t you think?

  • bigger (extra-large) and better (high performance) EVF / (trusted +Β  anonymous sources)
  • APS-C X-Trans sensor II (16MP) / (trusted +Β  anonymous sources)
  • double SD-card slot / (trusted sources)
  • weather sealed body / (trusted sources)
  • announcement at the end January / (trusted sources)
  • price range between X-E and X-PRO line / (new and anonymous sources)
  • FujicaST-like design / (source who was right in the past, but not yet upgraded to the elite-team of trusted sources ;-) )
  • faster AF than the X-E2 / (new source)
  • additional battery grip / (anonymous source)
  • name: X-T1 / (anonymous source)

Any help is appreciated. If there is anyone out there who can tell me more about the weather sealed X (or any other X-gear), please contact me at fujirumor@gmail.com or also completely anonymously via rumor box.

cheers,

  1. Wow! If retailers can knock out prices this low, it makes me wonder how much mark up they’re making out of our purchase… my pocket’s getting deeper and deeper to reach each time with all these nice lenses coming out!

  2. I’m so frustrated with my Nikon D600 right now (on its way back to Nikon for a third time for servicing) and so loving my X100S that this if very tempting. Going to check prices ….

  3. Hopefully this sale comes to the US soon, as well. I still regret not taking advantage of the sale of $1199 for the X100s sometime before Thanksgiving.

  4. I’m due to pay my taxes at the end of the month. As usual I’m in the dark. If the news is good then all barriers to me buying a top end X camera like this sweet sounding beaut this year are out the window.

Been shooting on a FM2 for a good while – great experience, and some compelling photographs – but now I want a modern camera that can do all modern stuff and still help me love and be engaged in the process.

I know it isn’t all about the tool. But it’s an important conduit. The relationship between camera and photo is quite fascinating.

I just need something that knows it’s brilliant – better than what it should be. That’s not too much to ask from top design.

Be serious Fuji – make the modern camera!!!!

    1. I’m with you but I use an FE rather than an FM. Lovely camera which is the same size as the X-Pro 1. With the exception of the 18/2, Ai lenses are smaller than XF lenses are. I hope the new X camera has a fast-updating EVF.

The current X-Pro 1’s is too slow for accurate response when manually focusing lenses. I use only M/LTM and for that, it is very hard to be accurate. A Leica is much faster. And an FE/M is much faster to focus equivalent lenses. And again so is the D800.

      A great EVF is important.

Or, a small square with a magnified image in the OVF of the X-pro 1 so that the OVF could still be used for manually focusing for us kids who don’t like investing in new and unproven system lenses.

  5. Hiya, I’m a newbie here.
Thanks for the information here, I have been getting update here closely.

Patrick, could you get from any sources if the new camera would have 5-axis in body image stablilization like the other new fuji finepix cameras do?

  6. So… Any chance we’ll get a Fuji bundle “sale” with the release of the new camera? Impatiently waiting for the xf 23mm…

  7. no more xtrans 2!! the files are all “watercolor” effect! i retourned back my xe2, nomore new fuji until a decent raw converter!

  8. Is it just me or we get far less bargain here in Europe compared to US or Canada?
I mean, yes we have some Canikon cashback few times a year but I see so many deals from reseller on deals runner. Never a thing for EU.
There is a similar french site but, let’s be honest, only cheap gear is beoing discounted there…

  9. How about this X-T1 sporting a traditional Bayer sensor πŸ™‚ ? If you shoot raw with the X-Trans you have worse results than shooting raw with a traditional APS-C sensor. Pros and prosumers shoot raw. JPG is for amateurs or for holidays when you take a lot of pictures…

    1. Absolute tosh is your statement that ‘pros’ only shoot RAW and hobbyists shoot JPEG. This is a perfect example of the snobbery that permeates through a lot of comments on photography sites. It can very easily be argued that shooting RAW allows for lazy exposure etc. β€” the final image being corrected in software, whereas shooting in JPEG is a little like digital film and you have to get it right the first time because there is so little latitude for correction later.

        1. TAZ, I see what you did there… πŸ™‚

Seriously, though, does anyone who passes along “watercolor” comments ever try raw conversion/processing with Capture One or Iridient? Or even SilkyPix for that matter?

        2. Here is a quote from our local pro-photographer
“I have to do it right the first time. My client does not pay me to work in Photoshop” ” I if schedule a 3 hour shoot, what’s what I get Paid”

    2. While I think it would be interesting if they were to release the X-T1 with a bayer sensor and no AA filter, it is not true that you have worse results shooting raw with an X-Trans sensor than with a traditional APS-C sensor. I use Capture One, and I am very happy with the results.

    3. No offense but this simply not true on either statement. With the advent of Photo Ninja, Iridient and Capture One processing X-Trans is just an easy as Bayer.

If you can’t work with the X-Trans you are probably processing it incorrectly…
