(SR3) NEX-7, NEX-C5 and VG-20 coming in July-September?

[shoplink 3058][/shoplink]
Before you read please keep in mind that I didn’t get a final confirmation for the following rumor. So please don’t get to excited? I am posting this because I hope other sources can confirm the rumor. A good source just sent me this. “July will also see the announcement of the A55 replacement (tentative) and the A77. In addition to the new A mount bodies, 2 new NEX photo products will also be discussed as well as the VG10 replacement.”

If all works fine than Sony will announce following products in July (or some of them in September):
The A77 with 24 Megapixel.
The A57 or A65 (not sure about the name yet) with less Megeapixels (?)
The NEX-7 which has the same sensor as the A77
The NEX-C5 with same A57/65
The VG20
The 16-50 f/2.8 Alpha Mount lens
The 24mm f/1.7 Zeiss NEX lens.
The 55-200mm NEX lens.
One more thing: The 500mm f/4.0 lens has been delayed!!!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: On Tuesday June 14th from 19:00 to 24:00 GMT (London) time comments will be disabled. I am moving the website on a new faster server. That will allow me to avoid crashes during the upcoming Sony announcements. And I can finally add some features on this website (+ fix the current issues). The whole server+installation costs are $3700 high. If you want to help to cover the server costs feel free to use our affiliate links to make shopping ([shopcountry 7207]) or feel free to donate by using that paypal button:

  1. I’d be interested what they would do with the VG-10 successor. Not that I am in the market to buy one, but I am curious what they have learned from the VG-10.

And I want that Zeiss of course. 😛

  2. Andrea, the A mount lens you are talking, 16-50mm/2.8,
you have mentioned last week as 18-50mm/2.8 lens!

Which one is the correct one? Any idea about the price?
Is it a G or CZ lens?

    Much thanks 🙂

      1. Thanks I was worried about that myself.
not worried if its CZ designed G series or Licenced CZ as long as it matches the quality of these lenses. both are expensive but If within reach worth having at least 1 such lense.

    1. Not with that aperture it won’t: large apertures need a lot of space, and so does OSS. You never see optical stabilisation in a fast prime (except maybe telephoto), and even slow, macro primes seldom have them.

  3. “16-50 f/2.8” sounds like something I’d loved to have as E-Mount instead of 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 – but I’m especially hoping for third party lenses to fill the super wide angle lack…

    1. does confirmada mean “this has been confirmed”…A77 and A65 on july 7th? Is this true? (the a65 part)

  4. This is great news for all Sony fanatics.. so many goodies 🙂
Does the “C” mean that the NEX-C5 will be even smaller?! More buttons please, you will need the real estate for that.

I can’t wait to see the CZ and NEX-7. Now are there any plans for an 11mm? Tokina do have a good one, 11-16mm F/2.8, I can’t wish for anything more.

      1. Preferably not limited to APS, considering they currently only make two rectilinear lenses wider than 24mm for full frame, and neither is free from issues. They really need a prime in the 13-17mm range.

  5. it’s would be interesting to compare the A77 and the Nex-7
both got the same sensor but The A77 has a mirror that reflects 30% !..

    1. Judging by the date of the patent filing, I wouldn’t expect it in 2012. I’d be happy to be proven wrong, though!

  6. Really looking forward to the 55-200mm. Manual focus and unstabilized 200mm f/4.5 is a pain to get things sharp.

  7. Hey Andrea, are they really going to leave that A77 with just one new lens (+1 to those asking wheter is a G or CZ – for God’s sake no fucking SAM please)? No more new lenses to shake the photo market with them?

    1. the 18-55 has the 55-200 as a partner. I would like to see a telaphoto partner for the 16-50. any chance ? somthing like a 60-250/F4 lense would be good.

  8. As one of the perhaps small group who would consider the 500 f/4, that delay is too bad. I’ll keep using the 500 f8 reflex for the time being.

    1. At this rate it’ll be delayed more times than the A700’s replacement has been.

Although at least there’s the option of the Minolta 600/4, even if it’s screw driven.

All the delays don’t bode well for the release schedules of other pro-tier lenses Sony have in the pipeline (à la 200/2). While most people can’t afford or justify such lenses, a company that gives an impression of being unable to release things in a timely matter will negatively affect the perception of their more prosaic lenses.

      1. Just checked eBay for the Minolta 600. $7400 w/ tripod, and not even the high speed version. Probably better to wait (and wait) for the new Sony.

        1. Sounds like the seller has their head in the clouds.

I’ve seen them go as low as $4500, although they seem to be increasing in price of late. KEH tend to sell them for around 5500-6000.

  9. WHERE ARE THE GOOD LENSES!?!?!

The system is mainly fun, but sub-par lenses. No idea on the 30, but they need some real lenses for this system, IMO. I’ve still got my NEX3, but I’m not buying any new bodies without better lenses.

  10. So the 16-50mm f2.8… does it has any other features?(OSS, SSM, etc), is it a G lens? CZ?. If not, I’ll still be opting for the Sigma 17-50mm EX DC OS HSM.

    1. The rumors have it as a standard SAM Sony lens. I’d love to see a SSM G lens for around $800-900 in that range with f/2.8.

There were rumors that there would be new Zeiss lenses, but I haven’t seen any specs.

As far as Sigma goes, I’d wait until they improve their QC and there have been reports that some models were having focusing issues with the new SLT models. That’s unacceptable from a lens manufacturer.

      1. I’m not going to buy any more SAM lenses. SAM is really a joke. Why is SSM so expensive? Canon offers USM lenses for much less for decades already.

        1. SSM is one thing that should be on more lenses. Marketing is the reason why it’s so expensive because they offer it on some of the high end G and Zeiss lenses.

  11. What could the C5 add over the C3 besides better HD video? Maybe a couple more buttons? That would be nice.

  12. i was waiting to see about a 16-80CZ replacement as i have a nack of buying a product to only have it replaced/ upgrades the next week.

maybe i ll be safe to get this lens now and hell if not least you guys will know a bigger better lens is on its way 🙂
a wish would be 20-100 3.5-4.5 or a 16-80 2.8-4 and still be sharp wide open (dreaming would be a 16-80 2.8f at jsut under 1k$)

  13. I assume that the NEX C5 will get a similar update as the C3, which leaves the Nex7 to get bigger with more buttons and an EVF.
I just hope they don’t copy the GH1/2 form, though they probably will.

  14. hope the price of used a77 will be around $600 in April 2012
    (haha… the a77 itself not yet announced….)
