Steve Huff (Click here) toke a first look on the SLR Magic 28 2.8 NEX “E” Mount Lens: “All I did was take a quick couple shots around the house at night, wide open at 2.8. What I found was that this lens is VERY Smooth to focus. Feels like a lens should feel when manual focusing. Also, it does seem like it will be soft at the edges at 2.8 but I hear it sharpens up as you stop it down.” The 28mm isn’t yet available for preorder. Hey admin, I think the review is about a NEX-3, not NEX-5, you should change the title 🙂
Apart from the slightly annoying voice, why does every tenth word seem to be “awesome”. She is far from alone in misusing that word, but please – the Grand Canyon is awesome, the Crab Nebula is awesome, mass animal migration on the Serengeti is awesome, but there are millions of digital cameras out there. I don’t feel a sense of awe when I handle any of them.
Approximately 0.0% information hidden in this “review” and 4:47 minutes of my precious life time wasted. Uh, wait: awesome and small. And by fiddling around with a NEX 5 one even gets she’s talking about a NEX camera ^^. Do you watch the videos before you post them to your site?
What kind of crappy review of the 28mm f/2.8 lens is this:

“I have not yet even REALLY shot with this lens as by the time I was able to get around to mounting it, it was night time. All I did was take a quick couple shots around the house at night, wide open at 2.8. What I found was that this lens is VERY Smooth to focus. Feels like a lens should feel when manual focusing. I stopped watching when she hugged the 5D “because it’s really really lovely.”

Agree with all the posters above, this is crap. There really should be some Quality Control to SonyAlphaRumors. Stuff like this brings quality of the whole site downward!

I didn’t mind one bit. Thank you for posting it. It was nice to see Sony winning the hearts of canon/nikon users. And she seemed extremely happy.

A little too happy if you ask me. Either she had no idea what she was doing with the 5D in the first place, or she got paid to praise the nex like that.

Was anyone else expecting a British accent from that girl? No offence to anyone, her voice kinda caught me off guard.
Anyway, I did like the site review much better than the video–they could’ve edited in some pics into their video to make it a little more… video worthy?
I want to know what Shaggy and Scooby thought of the NEX, too.
The written review was better than the video review, but it was still a useful video — the sort of video I’d sent to someone looking for a good camera but who doesn’t know anything about camera technology (and would be turned off by a parroting of a feature list).
