A kind source (Thanks a lot!) sent us these two real world pictures of the new Leica Q camera! I hope he can send us some high resolution images too 😉
The camera will be announced on June 10 and as usual you can follow the announcement here on MirrorlessRumors!
Reminder: The cameras has a 28mm f/1.7 fixed lens, 24MP Full Frame sensor, impressive 3.68 million dot built-in EVF and ISO that gets up to 50.000.

What’s with the viewfinder?
It sure looks ugly, like the rest of the back. I hope this is a prototype. The front and the back don’t share the same design philosophy.
1/2000 sec. max shutter speed?!
The directional wheel on the back looks really small.
Same for the “eyecup”.
The body looks like a prototype to me, not a final version. Perhaps it’s just the bad quality of the pictures.
I think the 2000- on the shutter dial means 2000 and up, maybe controlled upwards by the dial to the top right.
The inverted thumb rest looks like a nice and smart idea.
The viewfinder really is strange though.
I don’t think so. Both the Leica X and X Vario also have a maximum shutter speed of 1/2000. It seems that the Q also uses a leaf shutter, which limites the maximum shutter speed.
The back does look like a prototype. We’ll know soon enough, either through better leaked photos or the actual announcement.
Interesting, probably a test to see how their target group reacts to a EVF. Gonne be very interesting to see how they price this camera, it looks like a premium leica, just with a fixed lens which normally would set you back 10K
Rumours are 4,5k euro or thereabouts. Looks phenomenal. At least the EVF is high-resolution, but even 3,68m dots isn’t enough to replace an SLR OVF and TTL viewing isn’t the ‘typical’ Leica-user image, but I think people will get along with it quite well.
I agree. I’d much rather see a Fujifilm style hybrid viewfinder. I guess Leica was to afraid it would cannibilize M sales.
The AF implementation looks interesting. If I’m interpreting the photo right, you’d move the focus ring past infinity to the ‘AF’ mark to switch between AF-MF.
Unfortunately it appears so.
It is the same as on the Leica X and X Vario.
That second foto looks like a tot water gun.
Is that a diopter wheel on the RH side of the viewfinder?
Probably. A bit ugly, but usable.
You can find these on any mirrorless EVF.
A fixed lens FF camera with dedicated video button and the Leica price tag? Thanks, but no thanks.
Apart from the awkward AF/MF override, this camera looks as perfectly designed as possible.
Isn’t the override the same as in the Leica X and X Vario? I had the latter and thought it to be a very nice implementation.
Beautiful. Looks like it has the EVF that the RX1 should have had (instead of a flash).
Funnily enough I made a custom hood for my RX1 a while back that makes the lens portion look very similar:

And the surprise is that it is interchangeable lens !
I don’t think so. I haven’t seen a lens release button on any of the pictures. Also; the lens would be to small for an interchangeable fullframe 28mm f1,7. And the maximum shutter speed is 1/2000 with indicates it has a leaf shutter inside the lens instead of a focal plane shutter.
Is it still rumored to have a touch screen? From these latest photos the rear plate seems a variation of the Typ 113.
These images came from NPC Photo in Hong Kong; be honest.
The lens looks too small for a full frame 28/1.7. However, converted to the APS-C format, that would be a 40/1.7, a classic focal length, much more in accordance with the Leica tradition.
The Sony RX-1 also has a seemingly small lens, but a large portion of it is housed inside the body. I guess Leica does the same here.
But rx1 has a 35/2 lens. 28/1.7 would be quite a bit bigger.
This seems like an interchangeable camera. See the two white dots adjacent each other above inverted “AF”. Most of interchangeable cameras have these two dots, but I don’t remember seeing something like these in a fixed lens camera.
Right to the dot it seems to be labeled ‘macro’. Could it be a switch for macro mode?
The 28mm focal length seems an odd choice, 35mm would be more of an all purpose lens choice. I wonder if the plan is to release more than one focal length. A fixed landscape, fixed portrait and maybe a fixed tele.
Looks like a panoramic viewfinder to me…
