  1. Anyone thinking of a nice leather half case for their X-T1, get the Gariz one over the Fuji.. it fits really well, is better built (and better fit, from what I know) and you can have access to the ports on the sides unlike the Fuji. I highly recommend Gariz half cases and would get one for the X-T1 if I had one …or maybe when I get one 🙂

Just wished they’d come in more colors than just the ones you see right now.. I think black, brown & orange?… they should really have a more distressed and vintage looking brown leather version to match the “vintage” look of the X-T1… hopefully in the near future.

  2. While the Gariz case is nice looking they do have a couple of issues. First with the memory card being on the bottom, it gives you very little wiggle room to remove it with the case on. Without the case it’s not an issue but now with the bottom edge being extended it makes it a challenge. The battery is no issue since it’s nice and big, removing the memory card will be a struggle with this one. The second problem being is Gariz is not consistent with the leather they use. You can buy a black case and like it, buy a second one and it will be a different shade and pattern. I once bought a black version from them and it was more gray than black and didn’t match the camera. YMMV

  3. memory card on the bottom? for some cameras, yes, but this is the X-T1 we’re talking about here and it’s not on the bottom but on the side.. which is also NOT covered by the Gariz case on either sides (left and right), so both ports and memory cards on both sides have clear access without removing the case, unlike the Fuji one.

I’ve personally never had an issue with opening or clearance on the bottom with the gariz case. I think another benefit with Gariz cases is they are machined out of metal on the bottom so it’s a very precise cut.. and being metal allows more structural integrity so they can actually open it up more than say other leather half cases that are just made of leather and/or other softer non-metal materials which limits just how much access and opening you can get.

I don’t know?… Gariz is pretty consistent, they do have different types of leathers and colors, but within those select range they seem to be made and look the same way across various case models. Whether it will precisely match an existing color on a camera, that’s purely subjective and probably not likely.. say black with black, but not impossible.

  4. Question for those who have used these half-cases: Do they do much to improve grip and how do they compare in that respect to the Fujifilm MHG-XT Metal Hand Grip?
