About the new firmware for nx300: it’s a real shame that they didn’t ugrade the remote evf app to match the one in nx30. The nx300 would be totally capable of the same features, but samsung is deliberately avoiding to put them on it, so ppl are pushed towards another model which has the same sensor and processor.
I hope that the previous customers send emails to customers’ support, to ask for the implementation of remote evf pro.
P.s. if anybody does not agree and dislikes this post (as it always happens with samsung fanboys), please say why.
tbf its not just Samsung nearly every company in the world do the same and its completely understandable from a business point of view. I of course also would like the update for my NX300 but if its anything like their smartphones it will come in time and if it was vital to me i would have bought a SONY or Canon as their app was stronger at the time.
oh and i know they are the same sensor and the same processor but check the link i think you will be surprised 😀

Not surprised at all. He tested 1 sample of nx300 vs 1 sample of nx30. That difference could be due to sample variation. Anyway, even if all nx30 are sharper than all nx300, that could be due to a weaker aa filter, which is not something that is for sure a good thing, in fact it introduces moirè effects. A well balanced aa filter sometimes is better than no aa filter. You can sharpen an image quite easily, while it’s much more challenging to get rid of moirè effects.
Back to the firmware, look at fuji. They released new firmwares for old discontinued models that made them much more powerful than they were at the beginning.
I’m not very interested in the remote evf app, so my complaining is not about the app itself. It’s rather about the lack of innovative force driving samsung, that after one year puts on the market a camera with about the same hw, and to differentiate it needs to play with sw…very sad, and I see why more and more ppl are choosing other brands.
Again it very much isn’t just Samsung everyone just likes to bash that name. can you tell me the difference between the NEX5, NEX 5R, NEX5RL, NEX 5RN??
what about the SONY NEX3 and NEX3NL.
What about the Nikon j2 and j3??
now the Canon eos m and eos m2??
there is also the Olympus epl1, 2,3
and the Panasonic g1 all the way to g6 haha
People seem to get the mistake in thinking the NX30 is some how replacing the NX300 or is Samsungs ‘professionally’ aimed camera when it isn’t. the NX300 replaced the NX210 and and the NX30 replaced the NX20 both are very successful upgrades performance wise. There is still one more NX to come out this year and it will have a NEW sensor (Leaks/ reports). so that will leave samsung with 4 APSC range models 1 entry 2 mid range and 1 high end. its not really surprising that the two midrange have the same sensor really is it??
I really like FUJI and in my opinion they are in the strongest position photography wise, the problem they have is that they simply dont sell enough to the average consumer which scares me.
I’m not saying that it’s wrong if the NX30 has the same hw as the NX300. I agree with you, they are two separate lines of products, so the NX30 is successor to NX20 and NX300 is successor to NX210/200. What I’m saying is that, if NX30 and NX300 have the same hw, then they are very well capable of running the same software. So, the fact that NX30 comes with Remote EVF pro and NX300 does not, is simply due to the will of Samsung to “artificially” differentiate two products. This is sad and shameful, in my opinion, since NX300 came out one year before the NX30, and ppl wanting the new feature (not me!) should need to buy a new camera which is the same as the old one, just for something that could be implemented via fw.
I hope that now I made it clear what I was meaning. Fuji implemented focus peaking and much more in OLD models, just to please its existing customers. Samsung is NOT interested in customers, but just in selling new cameras (but, even with this sad marketing tricks, they don’t sell many of them).
p.s.: Fuji X is selling much more cameras than NX ones. Have a look at any top10 on big stores, like amazon. You’ll see Fuji in the top positions.
I understood your point from the start and im not disagreeing with it but its a problem with business not Samsung as it happens within 90% of companies and a lot more then the NX line. Remember the Remote veiwfinder pro has only been available for a month or so can you blame them for wanting to sell some of their newer cameras first?? to me that just makes sense. if it never comes available then people can complain but give it time haha
and yes Fuji is selling more then the NX line (who isn’t) but no where near as much as SONY and Panasonic in stores. remember companies like Sony, Nikon and Samsung have money to waste FUJI don’t if you believe report sadly
This is true, but fuji is recognized as a great photographic tool, while nx is not (even if quite capable). I think that samsung should take more care of its customers, that are the ‘few’ that gave credit to this system, instead of treating them as cash cows…
My take is that more and more existing customers will leave the system as soon as a new one fits their needs. I’m one of those 🙂
Thanks. Updated my NX300’s and 18-55 III’s.
There is no update for my 50-200 III ifn.
“Some’ on this thread need to remember new FW is new FW, not a new camera.
So is fuji able to turn an old camer into a new one with magic? And the features that fuji introduced via fw have been ported to different hardwares.
Please try not to be always a fanboy, otherwise you can easily become ridiculous. Fw upgrades exist to fix bugs AND to add features.
Is nx300 capable of running evf pro features? Yes. Why am I sure? Because it has the same processor (as stated in all the reviews and press releases) than nx30.
So if samsung does NOT want to implement it, it’s JUST a marketing decision and NOT a technical limit.
Please get informed before ‘unliking’ posts of those touching your beloved brand.
My words above prompted such an outburst?
No. You must have intended to post this on another forum of another web site.
There is no room for this kind of language here at Mirrorless Rumors.
You chase my posts just to attack me, I’m tired. You’re a fanboy, don’t know if you get something to advertise samsung around the web. Here on MR there’s no place for fanboys. I replied to you since you said a WRONG thing, Fuji added features with fw updates. Go and learn before posting.
