Canon seems to have added a lot of neat features… I especially think the two control dials are valuable – especially the focus ring for manual focus – HOWEVER, does anyone know if Canon has included a “focus peaking” function which can be used with the LCD or optional EVF? I don’t sense any mention of it.
>>>>with MF Peaking possible thanks to the new processor, you’ll have a pro-level focusing tool at your disposal.
so… if MF Peaking is means focus peaking , then it is YES

Thank you angus, that seems promising!
@madmax: I totally agree with you but the alternates I was thinking about would be a Panasonic GX7 (smaller sensor) or the new, yet to be released OMD-EM10 (again m43 sensor) or the new Sony a6000.
Problem is, I will still need to get one or two decent lenses for either of those cameras and if you combine the costs, it will exceed the cost of the G1X MKII w/EVF. The ILC’s offer more versatility – but I am stuck. I own an EOS 6D so part of me wants to stay in the Canon family because I can use my speedlites if needed. I REALLY had hoped Canon released a successor to the EOS-M with EVF, etc. but this never happened and kind of ticks me off.
So, part of me wants to go with something like a GX1II for travel and walking around, and part of me likes the m43 cameras or Sony cameras but I hate the thought of starting another lens collection.
well….. what i think is…. if you can use US$1100 buy a M43 camera & lens….. with lens of equf. 24-120 F2-3.9…. then please go head….
P.S.: the lens of 12-40 (i.e. 24-80) F2.8 is cost US$ 910 at amazon….. and lot bigger.
$800 for the camera alone plus $300 for the EVF is a lot of money. $800 with EVF or $600 for the camera alone could be more adequate pricing.
Looks like a nice camera, fast zoom lens and nice features, but I don’t see what pushes this above other cameras. It’s pricey, priced above the RX100 and just below the RX10 with EVF, the video just looks okay, and while the images look very nice, I don’t see meaningful differences between these and m43 shots. It’s not pocketable, nor is it full size. Physically, this is most similar to the Fuji x20 and the other superzooms that all sell for less.
If this camera was priced in the mid $500’s, I could see Canon moving these, but at $800?
Nah.
