But they still sell body only for 800…If they sold it for 400, which is about what it’s worth after you factor in what the two lenses would sell for, I might consider it
That + f/1.2 56 mm R + 2 batteries + a mini tripod and you have everything you need for travel photography. 🙂
I will just grab a zoom lens. Don’t feel like changing lens in the crowd or in the field.
I would be very careful when buying this deal from Adorama. I ordered a similar deal back in August, that was including the XPro1, XF35 and XF27. As soon as I placed the order they sent the XPro1 and the XF27, and the XF35 went in back-order… Still haven’t received it, and their customer support was awful!
Why would someone want both the 23 and the 27? Aren’t they rather close in focal length to make that appealing?
… says somebody who has neither one of them? 😉
Otherwise you would know how different both lenses really are.
That’s right; I own neither. So, how different are they? Can you put it briefly, or if not, direct me to an article somewhere?
sidtw could have been nice enough to explain the difference straight off the bat, instead of insulting you (as is was so obvious to him/her). And I love how you are humble enough to answer and politely ask for an explanation. I have experience with these lenses and although I use them differently, I think two different focal lengths would make more sense (but probably kill sales). I regret buying the 27mm honestly, it’s not up there with the other lenses. Maybe sidtw feels the same and is just getting defensive.
Isaac, I am surprised by your comment on “not up there with the other lens” if you look at the test I gave a link to : better resolution, far less CA … I am not saying it is the best, just saying it is far from a dud and has its own merits and … if is now welded to my x-e1 with which the AF is very fast. So for a few Euro/Quids/Dollars you have a very good quality body and lens, quite pocketable, that you can throw in the glove box w/o thinking too hard. To me it is a very interesting proposition.
I like to process my raw files meticulously and have found the 27mm to be sharp, but has a serious lack of contrast and colour. Yeah, I do agree with you about the AF and lets face it, we could probably all chew the fat about our camera gear and preferred setup for days. I think your two bob has merit. Lenses are so personal. Conversations over glass can get so hot hey.
Depends what has been poured in your glass héhé
Hi,
I didn’t insult anybody and wasn’t defensive neither.
And I also don’t regret anything. All lenses in the current Fuji lineup, and I really think so, are great. Each lens I bought performs exactly the way I was expecting. Each one is perfect. For different reasons, and for different needs.
In fact I wish Fuji would produce one or two more pancake lenses.
If someone ponders with the idea of buying a Fuji X-Pro1 as first or second body and has not yet any of the two lenses should really get the deal. The camera is great, and the lenses are great. It’s the best all-round set up for street & family shots.
No worries. No hard feelings either. I agree about the ‘cakes, I personally love the original 18mm f2 pancake for what it is, despite its bad rep. The X-Pro 1 has always been an underrated camera burdened by old firmware (back when it was released) and high rrp. It really is a gem and my camera of choice. I carry the X100T around everywhere, but it’s not as half as satisfying to use.
They could not be more different.
Field of view: don’t let the 4mm fool you into thinking they are close: the 27mm on apsc is very close to the human eye (event though I have the 35mm I find the 27 to have a more pleasing FOV.) the 23 enter squarely into wide angle territory
I.Q. ; the 27 is very good, the 23 is excellent
Aperture ….
Size : The 27 is pancake meaning that with large pockets body + lend can fit in a coat pocket.

the fov of the 27mm is literally perfect.. fuji could do some stylish wr remake of this lense! (in silver colour too)
I agree with you on the perfect fov. To the point that my 35mm sees far less use since I purchased the 27mm
Hi,
Size, weight, number of lens elements, maximum aperture, optical quality, coating, place of production, clutch, aperture ring, filter diameter, minimum focus distance, and price. All that is different.
The angle of view is technically seen somehow similar, but actually feels different as well.
So, let’s say this year, I’ve taken around 30% of all pictures with the 23mm and around 10% or less with the 27mm. The rest with other lenses of the lineup.
Both are great all-round lenses. I take the 23 out for quality shots, and the 27 if I just want to have the most light weight package.
Have a good one!
If you really need these 2 lens simultaneously, I suggest getting XF 16-55. It will save you a lot of hassle.
Disagree. The 27 is wonderfully small and the 23 is really fast. The 16-55 is neither of those. If you don’t care about additional flexibility with focal length the zoom is not a good choice.
When I use primes, either I have no idea what I am about to shoot, nor I have multiple bodies in hand… That’s how I use my camera.
Yeah, that’s what primes get you. I love them but I can understand why some people prefer zooms. Happy shooting 🙂
I do have primes as walk-around lens. But I rarely use them when I was going out just for shooting. In previous statement, I mean if one needs to take those 2 lens out together on the same day.
Cool combo
