“My life changed on the 30th of April 1975 [Note: last day of the Vietnam War], because on that day – when Americans flew from the roofs of Saigon – a skilled Vietnamese thief was able to steal a [shoplink 38356 ebay]Leica M3[/shoplink] of an American. I met him at the market of Saigon a few days later and bought that camera. Wonderful. Simple. For 100 Dollar! It became the camera of my life. […]
The nice thing of that camera is, that it is very easy to load the film, that’s very important. […] You keep it around your neck, turn, open, insert film, close and – trum-pum! It’s ready to use. Easy. And once you selected shutter speed, aperture, black & white, 400 ASA, you take the picture. You simply cannot do anything wrong!
And then there was an almost erotic aspect, I mean, you put this camera for example at 1/125 and when you take the picture it makes a “cloc-cloc” that is such a joy to hear!”
I start this article quoting this excerpt from Tiziano Terzani’s wonderful and highly recommended book “Das Ende ist mein Anfang“ (The End is My Beginning)“, just to make it clear right from the start: to me, there is much more in photography than mere specs. Sure, specs are exciting, yes, but I need more.
And like Tiziano Terzani fell in love with the easy and intuitive use of his [shoplink 38356 ebay]Leica M3[/shoplink] and even with its “almost erotic” shutter sound, to me it’s the overall shooting experience in real life that makes my Fuji X-T1 so much superior than the Sony A7rII. That’s why I called my controversial article Fuji Fun Vs. Sony Specs. But I guess I simply belong to a very small niche of people, who, for example, gets more excited by a camera with a dedicated shutter speed dial (Fuji X-T1) than by a camera with 42MegaPixel (Sony A7rII).
But that’s just me, my very personal taste. For your shooting style, the X-T1 might be crap. To each his own. There is no right or wrong. I respect every personal taste in this matter.
However, there are some other folks out there, who, like me, also prefer Fuji’s overall shooting experience, like littlebigtravelingcamera, who compared the Fuji X-T1 with the Sony A7r. He says:
“On paper the Sony clearly wins. […] But there is more that makes a great camera. It is not just the sensor. The shooting experience plays an important part too. The Fuji X-T1 just disappears when I shoot it. Everything feels natural. I never have to use the menu. The Sony is different […] Shooting feels less natural […]. There is no need to dig into menus most of the time if you set it up clever but it is just not like shooting with the Fuji.
Regarding cameras to me it is a tie.”
Believe me, I’m honest when I say that Sony makes great cameras, is a great innovator and makes the best sensors out there. Everyone who bought a Sony made an good choice. But there is something I miss there.
Now, I won’t go so far to say like Diglloyd that Sony is “a company that really does not understand photography”… but there is something I can’t find in the Sony World, but only find in Fujifilm so far. But you have to look behind the specs to see it.
I’ve fastened my seatbelt and put on my helmet… I’m ready for the shitstorm 😉
have a GREAT day,
Fuji X Forum, Facebook, Google+, RSS-feed and Twitter
P.S.: Even some Hardcore Sony Shooters (who own the A7rII) agree with this post 😉

I’m annoyed no Sony APS-C announcement yet. Good news though is will be able to pick up a A7S cheaper for my indoor low light shooting, but I’m still waiting to find out what the Sony sensor will be in the next Fuji-X’s.
Comes straight from the heart. Doesn’t claim anything else. Is a personal opinion, and preference. Shitstorming these lines shows poor understanding of your statement.
I’m tortured because of Fuji. because of similar reasons. Next year I’m gonna “switch”. By specs I should go somewhere else (even if the x-Pro2 comes one day, it will look like nothing compared to the A7rII or III…). Except maybe for the emergence of the magical mystical organic über-sensor. But I shot an x100s for 2.5 years now. And even if it has its flaws, I love to shoot it. It feels nice. I find it sexy. If Konost doesn’t bring a kind of reason-killer, I really hope that Fuji gives me a rational reason to buy more into their system. Because anyway I feel I might prefer an x-T1(0) (tested it one weekend and immediately used it as if I had it for months) to menu-fiddling…
But please guys, even if we love the actual sensor, let’s admit that in that new world where things go so fast, a new one would be pretty cool. It sucks to buy a camera you want to use many years with a 4 year old sensor when looking at what others bring to the market. Even if my landscape attempts and friends/family portraits won’t make me win a pulitzer or something because on a bit more DR. We’re geeky hobbyists. Ready to pay too much for tech stuff. Pretty understandable that we always look for the next step in technical evolution and then long for it.
Tiziano Terzani’s book sounds fascinating. (Anybody who thinks an M3 is easy to load obviously has a singular outlook.) Maybe I should go out and steal a copy? After all, that’s how he got his M3…
Here’s what I don’t understand — people always rave about how easy the X-T1 is to use, and how it “disappears” when they use it, and on and on.
I’m happy they’re happy. I’ve shot with X-T1’s, but I own an X-E2, and I find it to be a MUCH more useable camera.
The buttons are so much bigger! SO much more clickable! The thumbpad buttons are actually RAISED UP over the body, not wedged up against a rubber grip that makes it a chore to try and press one of them! (*ahem*, looking at you, right thumbpad button on the X-T1) For the record — I do not have big fingers by any stretch.
The other big thing is the viewfinder. I will admit, I love the size of it on the X-T1. But the position!? I don’t know why anyone would prefer to use a pentaprism-style finder in the middle of the camera, rather than an RF style finder on the side. Don’t you people get tired of smashing your nose against the back of the camera? And if you’re like me, leaving nasty nose oils all over your LCD (don’t try to deny it!)?
None of that is an issue with the E2!
I don’t like those irritating dial locks on the shutter speed and ISO either — it makes it hard to change them with one hand. All you need are nice, stuff dials like the E2 has, and you don’t need locks — they’re not gonna budge unless you move them on purpose!
I will grant that I am not a huge fan of the AF/AE lock button positions on the E2 — but ergonomically that is my only complaint, whereas I have a laundry list of issues with the X-T1.
Maybe I’m just sore because the X-T1 seems to get all the firmware love, while the X-E2 seems all but forgotten by Fuji (and just about everyone else), even though it’s specced almost exactly the same and is a much better camera from a usability standpoint.
Agree, here’s hoping for an X-E3 with cleaned up ergonomics and a tilt screen…
I don’t have an X-T1 (I have a X-T10), but coming from an XE-1 I do like the pentaprism style viewfinder. I also have a real rangefinder (a Leica) and in many situations a rf style viewfinder is preferable, but what if your left eye is dominant (my right eye is), than a pentaprismstyle viewfinder is way better than a rf style vf.
Nope. Left eye dominant here and the RF style VF gives me more room. I find it far more enjoyable to use my X100’s “inferior” EVF than my X-T1’s. Just cause it gives me more room for my face. But I’m a big fella, so that might be the reason I think I’d prefer the RF styled VF even if I were right eye dominant.
You prefer the pentaprism-style finder in the middle if you are a left eye shooter.
Shit storm is coming.
The shit has came with this hype thread. Fuji must be in desperate, as its paid fanboys, seeing how A7x is well selling and how many Fuji users can switch from Fuji APS-C to Sony FF. Comparing FF A7r vs APS-C X-T1 is ridiculous, like comaping sun to moon. But threads and posts like this ruin rest of Fuji’s credibility, including such statements about X-T1 “Everything feels natural”. 1EV bracketing feature only “feels natural” in 2015? No ONE Custom Mode feels natural? 4 years old sensor, spoiled JPEG engine in newer cam, poor flash, 1 direct Fn button, no NR Off, washed details, waxy skin also “feels natural” compared to Sony? Do you feel “natural” to see FF A7R in body size and weigh 127x94x48 + 465g vs APS-C X-T1 body 129x90x47 + 440g ? Such posts ridicule Fuji for desperate marketing, which probably touches bottom. We should better all bring pressure on Fuji to bring cams with features that may makers have been offering for years for their customers. If you want really compare X-T1 to Sony, than do it with X-6000.
just wanted to say that I’m not paid a single cent by Fujifilm. I don’t get any discount on X-gear. I don’t get any X-gear free for testing. I don’t get priviledge customer service or free repair or whatever, not even free sensor cleaning. All I wrote is just my opinion and a report of the opinion of theligglebigtravelingcamera.
Also, please consider that “shooting experience” does not belong to specs or sensor size. So you can easily compare the X-T1 with any camera on the world, since the article is not about specs.
But as you have said, Shooting Experience is also subjective… you like the X-T1 and so your experience shooting it is better than your experience shooting anything else… this is not your objective opinion … it’s a biased opinion based on your love of the X-T1… which is just fine… but keep that in mind.
as stated in the article, the comments about the shooting experience are my very personal ones. There is no claim of objectivity. I wanted to make it clear in the article, but maybe I should underline it even more (but I don’t now how).
But this does not necessarly mean that I can’t write an article, where I compare my very personal shooting experience with the Sony A7RII with the one I have with the Fuji X-T1
But when there is no rumor to share, he has to post something else to attract traffic. And based on how many posts here. I think he did a gooood job.
Biased or not, is nothing, compared to traffic.
the only way not to be accused of click-bait is not to write at all on FR… that’s my conclusion after years of work. I have the feeling that’s what some out there would love to see, FR closed forever. Until then, the accuses will be every single day the same:
I share a rumor? Pf… it’s just for traffic
I share a review? Pf… it’s just for traffic
I share a interesting news? Pf… it’s just for traffic
I take my time, test cameras, and make a comparison? Pf… it’s just for traffic
I share xy? Pf… it’s click bait for traffic
so let me stop to write rumors, share reviews and comparisons, stop the news stream… I won’t be accused of click-bait anymore… and enjoy my spare time, since this means FR will be closed
What’s the problem with personal tastes ?
Some persons still shoot film, those camera have bad specifications and they still prefer it… This post is about PERSONAL TASTES, keep it in mind.
Buy a Sony if you prefer it. I keep my X-E1 and I’m happy with it. I’ll buy a X-T2 one day, or maybe an A7RIII ?
I still keep my X-E1 (I had also X-E2), though I consider to go back to FF now. I feel Fuji will always be 2-3 year behind many competitors that offers much more when they release a new cams.
Sony, or would you wait and see what Nikon and Canon might release in terms of mirrorless FF?
so what? 95% of that new tech doesn’t improve your photos.
But since the X100, XPro1, and XE1 were basically prototypes for the X100T, XT1, and XE2 the new tech does matter. Mirrorless is not mature technology and the advancements make a big difference.
I will give you that the autofocus improvements have made a big difference. And the ergonomic improvements in some instances (x100t vs x100(s)). But by and large, jpeg profiles, bracketing options, face detection…I won’t discount that they matter a lot for some people, but not for me. And since I’ve seen so many masterful photos created without those tools, it’s hard for me to buy that they improve your photography significantly.
I don’t think anybody even mentioned face detection and other simple feature adds. But you said it yourself AF and ergononic improvements warrented upgrade. X100, proof of concept. X100S, fix AF & MF speed, X100T, enable MF in OVF mode, further refinement of AF. These features alone drove people to throw money down. Now they’ve damn near nailed it, time to go pro and put a 24×36 sensor behind a 35/2 and charge 3 grand for it. They’d be creating the Rolleiflex of digital cameras.
That is completely silly statement… Are you really saying that you feel that 42MP and 5 Axis in body IS and BSI sensor that lets you shoot at 12000 ISO usably with those 42 MPIX.. won’t improve the photos of a good photographer?
I think there are certain scenarios where any one of those features may help a good photographer create a better photo, but I also think a good photographer could likely create a great photo without any of that. Speaking for myself, none of those things are limitations to the quality of my photos. I would have to be at the very top of my form before I needed 42 megapickles to make a photo substantially better.
Then you don’t do much landscape photography… cause for Landscape the extra resolution is welcome…. But hey…I’m happy you’re happy with 16mpix and 5000ISO as limits.
I do actually do a good bit of landscape work, but then I use a tripod, so why the heck would I need ISO 5000? For that matter, what self respecting landscape photographer wouldn’t be using a tripod? And no, 43 megapixels wouldn’t really help, because I don’t print so large that it would make much of a difference. It would slow my computer down though. I’m not saying it’s not welcome, just not needed.
I’ll also add that I don’t usually shoot in very dark environments without a tripod so IBIS and BSI are less important to me. I stopped taking crappy photos of the insides of museums a while ago.
So whats stopping you? Go back to FF already. Cut your misery already its bad for your health.
when the Fuji T2 comes out, there will probably already be a A7R V out 😉
The advantage: the A7r II, III and iV will be crazy cheap cause there is such a high price degradation
But also a lack of support for the prior models so you better be happy with whatever bugs your model has at the time as you’ll not see an update to fix them.
That’s probably the main reason I prefer Fuji 🙂
That´s the problem of modern time, growing stronger every month and clearly visible in net discussions – nobody should be happy with his gear, there is always more to be purchased. And don´t dare to be satisfied with something that someone other dislikes… Gone are the times when normal people had their opinions and respected the right of other people to do or like something different. And personal tastes? Soon there will be only crowd, official, hyped tastes, nothing else will be allowed.
I also have a personal taste: I like free firmware updates more than payed hardware updates, I don´t like Sony colors and image processing, I don´t need the biggest resolution or sensor. Sony A7 line are great, technically advanced, effective and compact cameras with enormous potential, but they are also cold, lacking some real soul, and they still have some big bugs to remove. If I would need a compromise-less working solution, I would choose some A7, the optics are impressive, but it´s different and there are not enough positives to undergo such a great financial step. The Fuji spirit is much more pleasing.
“they are also cold, lacking some real soul, “… I think you may want to look at some real pictures taken with the A7rII before you say something like that… put high quality glass like the Loxia and Batis lenses or the Sony 35, 55 and 90…on this camera and the richness, depth and pop of the photos are stunning.
FE 35/2.8 and 55/1.8 is great in resolution but also has very big drawbacks. I know some A-mount users just find it hard to accept their overall image quality. The only thing they have is sharpness. Sigma E30, when used on A7 bodies equiv to 36mm, is almost the same with FE 35/2.8 in terms of sharpness with 1/8 of the price.
Sony’s target customers are people who only cares about sharpness and don’t mind pushing ISO (sacrificing color). I generally think most of these folks are entry level users. “Look! How beautiful this picture is taken by my iPhone. It has so many details even when used at night! “
Who said anything about sharpness? Or anything about pushing ISO?… I said richness, depth and pop… Only entry level users knock a camera without actually having tried it.
Oh, those are exactly, in my opinion, Sony doesn’t provide along with excellent sharpness. Their compressed RAW format is giving flat images. Lens you mentioned also have less than impressive out of focus rendering. Sony might win over Fuji on something, but it is not competing with Nikon and Canon in professional field. True potential of current sensor technology would be unleashed when D900/850 and D5 hit the market.
No Idea if this has enough richness, depth and pop. It’s Fuji’s 90mm

That photo is nothing phenomenal.
The one on the right is Fuji 56 1.2

sorry to say the truth but, patrick’s photo is much much better than these two posted above, in term of using light…
that might be the different about photographers who are using light vs photography who are capturing images…
again… sorry 🙂
It’s always easy to say something is not good.
You should go to the flickr album I cited. The owner is a commercial photographer based in UK. I was citing these 2 photos as a demonstration of bohek, composing, and the characteristic rendering of Fuji cameras. (Based on my understanding, this is what he post pictures for). Fang has done a lot of experiments with Fuji cameras and posted a very detailed writing/instructions on his experiences and thoughts. What I put here just a piece of the iceberg.
And you tell me he does not know how to use light? My tears is bursting out.

“You tell me he does not know how to use light? My tears is bursting out”
First and foremost, I am talking about the picture that you previously posted. The two recently posted above are much better comparing to the previous.
You can ask anyone out there to see which shot is better when comparing the the flat shot that you previously post comparing to Patrick’s?
Recently post images, the second one is not just light by itself, but it did get help from PS, diffuse light filter…
Keep looking around and learn bro… 😉

I do not care about bokeh alot since to me, including environment will offer more sense to images, unless headshots…
Ah, just found an images (not photography, but a painting. I don’t just take a look at photography to learn photography, but also paintings…) that I saved off a while ago and keep telling myself that this should be type of light that I am going pursue…
Keep looking around and learn bro… 😉
Many commercial photographers would not easily let you see through how they position their strobes. That’s how they earn money. Sometimes they even put some useless strobes to confusion those who were looking at the setup.
http://strobist.blogspot.com/2011/02/must-be-some-kinda.html
well, i do not need to… even taking a look at eyes… all i want and care is highlights and shadows 🙂
the given page, i was there when i first learn about photography… thanks for re-sharing 🙂
by taking a look at below image, can one tell me what type of flash was it used? and where is it? they might, but will not be 100% correct… so learn how to see an image instead of copying their light 🙂
a shot from birthday party…
note: exif is intact, which i normally do not do… however, photography is not my career. i am learning for fun and challenge. that is the reason why i am not using mirrorless, but i do love fuji camera (has used Fuji X100s and XT1, borrow from my friend…), NOT SONY…
Looks like built in flashes (you get the idea) to me based on where the shadows are. It’s not reliable to look at eyes to determine how lights were positioned. They might hire full-time workers to do the processing and PS is very capable and deceiving.
Sony does not make professional cameras. I do mostly landscape. Bracketing and stacking is what I needed most.
lol… i had not used build in flash on the second days of using DSLR… it is on camera flash, bare flash, no gel with my own created diffuser…
show me if you can get build in flash with that kinda light… lol…
i learn everything from online (free offers), and my own experiments (have a cheap dslr reserved for experimental usage)… all my money goes to gears, not even a cent has been spent on books or workshops…
Hmm, looks like i still have to improve my English. However, it’s coming from the camera above the lens. I got that part correct. I don’t care what model you used. In fact I don’t even know how you tweaked the file.
my english is my second language also, so do not worry. i can let you know that if i was using gel, background color would come out the same… but different technique…
i’ll let you guess again… how about this. what type of flash and where is it. i also leave exif intact for you to double check. answer before taking a look at exif and do not cheat…
seem like you take a look around and learn a lot. might to let people see your images?
note: previous image is my wife and my sister. this image is my daughter… and the noise was added in (yes, i like noise, but not noise from camera)…
I don’t care what type of light you use. I only care about where it comes from. Shadows don’t lie. It’s either from the tablet or a off-cam flash placed near it.
Wrong… it is window light… Light from tablet is NOT that strong with that kinda distance… I did not say that you care. But seem like you understand a lot about light; therefore, I am asking 😉
just in case that you way that i am cheating with black and white… here is a version next to that image…
As I said, I concern from what direction light comes from and what type it was (point source or area source). The source could be anything, which is worthless argument. One can use a flash, one can also use strobe lighting; A umbrella or a huge soft-box. What’s point arguing what was used exactly? Effects can be the same. I can walk to the supermarket and I can drive there. Anyway I spent the same amount the time traveling. How did I get there?
How is this taken?
http://www.chiphell.com/data/attachment/forum/201509/01/215403y33xpsdroed6xpze.jpg
but you said that light might be from tablet? lol…
light from the back is obviously (available light?), light from the top slightly left (shutter side)… very soft… might from available light also… i do not like sony anyway… hehhee…
care to share you image, not other people image… 🙂
That photo can be taken with different techniques to achieve similar effects. As I said you could use a soft-box and shoot it at night. You can post-process. This is worthless argument. I don’t share photos that has other people in it. So no flash photos. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/56dfb5428b2b9b4d0148cca7213d11e6df5037fde33f72fd7b7606d449d313e6.jpg
ah… landscape… this december will be my one year anniversary of learning landscape. this two below images was taking last month in eastern sierra, california… one in mammoth lakes, and one in yosemite, tuolumne meadows… same trip…
Overly pushed in my opinion. Some are my personal favorite spots. No hint where they are.

just in case that you are saying that i am cheating… here is one with direct sun light, captured in lone pine…
what are you trying to say? What does that has to do with overly pushed color? Mine was considered overly tuned by many. Yours is more exaggerated.
lol… overly push. different people different taste. print your image out and then you’ll see which one is better…
here is my ray of light, captured in la jolla while being there with my family, hand held
lol… overly push. different people different taste. you think it that way, but i do not. print your image out and then you’ll see which one is better…
here is my ray of light, captured in la jolla, ca while being there with my family, hand held
I don’t print. I only view on screen. I tuned to look pleasing on HP dreamcolor monitor or ipad screen.
As for printing, I don’t want to bother calibrating an expensive printer. I
never send images to professional printing services ter. But i have a feeling you print on your own printer without caring too much about workflow.
well… for learning, i do… but i print at home. i have 3 large size format, advance printers for printing images… and again, personal idea of learning… and i print large side, not album sizes…
didn’t i say that i spend my money on gears and experiments 🙂
I don’t want to bother setting up my stuff to work under that specific standard. I do have access to a PIXMA Pro printer. Too much hassle for me. I’d take my ipad and show others my photos using it. If it looks good enough on ipad, it’s done well.
lol… how about below image? much better?
Better still exaggerated viewing using iPad, which i think has neutral/loyal to reality color rendering. However this (ipad) is not how I would calibrate my monitor for printing.
lol… that above image was done by a legendary landscape photographer, Galen Rowell (his son, Tony Rowell is nothing comparable to him and I did say that this directly to his staff)… not me… he can be comparable to Ansel Adam 😉
Ansel Adam do not shoot much or publish his images in color, read Ansel Adam in colors and then you will know (i bought it from local library, did not buy)…
I have fake colors in my photos. However that was not often done by me. Galen’s work, suggested by Google, aren’t always like that though some looks like fake colors to me, which is something I do not enjoy.
I am into Japanese style of color rendering.

okae… i kinda understand where you are now in photography… however, your above image still like western art, not eastern… eastern is more like color harmony… like shanshui art
aiite… found what i want to know… gotta hit my bed now 🙂
no… i have been number of time in his gallery, located at Line St., Bishop, CA… and that is how his image look like in his gallery… i download that image from his mountain light website, not from google… just want to let you know…
second one, Mt Fuji look more like eastern art…
note: all my color is not fake, it is real color… i do not add, remove any from my image (totally qualify for national geographic rule), saturation, contrast (both local and global), etc that was modified. in addition, i am not a big fan of repeating people shots. if i do, it is for my learning purposes and will never been published…
which one are your favorite spots, i can show you… i do not hide my locations, like some other pros, at all…
That refers to where I took the images. Thanks anyway. I have a list of where and when I should visit.
the first image is right off the US-395 (when you making a left turn to Mammoth Lake), looking south east. the second image is mountain Dana and mountain Gibbs, locating in east side of Yosemite. it will be your left side of the street if you are entering from east gate of Yosemite…
gotta hit my bed now for tomorrow learning trip, preparing for my first fall color…
nope… you are wrong… the flash is from above the lenses, but light source is bouncing off from the side of the lenses… 😉
of course you didn’t use Gel. Otherwise background color should be very different.
To be honest with you I rarely only use 1 flash. If I use flashes it’s going to be 2-3 flashes. Or if I have no choice it would be 1 off camera flash. However for the photo you have shared, 1 on-cam flash is reasonable but that’s not how I would compose.
when understanding flash, adding additional flash is nothing hard. all we care is specular highlight.
since above answer coming after i posted second image, i would say that you are incorrect again… that is window light… you want a separation light her out of the shadow right? yep, i would to… but that moment will be gone when i am done with the setup…
Compare images from 500px and you would figure out why Sony is not compelling as a FF camera.

This is a Gear blog… what the heck would we be discussing if we didn’t give our opinions on camera gear?
I’m not one that would say my Fuji camera is perfect. The 1EV bracketing bugs me, sometimes, but then again, I rarely bracket. I’m used to using filters and getting the shot I want in one frame. One FN button DOES feel natural. It’s one of the things I really disliked when I tried Sony, and especially Olympus. The cameras are too damn customizable. I can’t remember what is what. I don’t have an issue with the jpeg engine, but I also shoot raw. Poor flash? Uh, I guess if you need TTL, but once I learned how to use a flash TTL became a lot less important (Note, I am not an event photographer. If I were TTL would probably be a lot more important to me). And the weight comparisons you mentioned are for 1 lens. Care to compare the 23mm 1.4 against the 35mm 1.4? Look, Sony IS doing great things, but some of us really prefer the way Fujis operate, and it’s not just buyer’s regret or justification. I have the money to switch fully to sony if I want to. I don’t want to. I keep buying Fuji lenses.
I take no position in this particular post. I used to think like you, using filters. Now I think digital photography requires a little changes in practice. I am actually into bracketing and stacking. The only filters I think I need would be ND and CPL.
I guess I’m old fashioned. Nothing wrong with either approach, so long as you get the result you want.
There is no criticizing. Indeed. My dad is doing the same and that was my guide for many years. But I am adapting new techniques to save myself some money on filters. Insert filters are too expensive for me and using them slows me down (since I am not mature in using them yet). It’s easier for me this way. I believe it brings better results.
23 F1.4 verses 35 F1.4 is not an apples to apples comparison … the Sony lens is twice the weight.. true… but it’s also a better lens with more glass and weather sealing and proven to handle the 42MPIX of resolution…. It’s still to be proven if the 23mm can handle resolution greater than 16MPIX…. How about we compare the 23 F1.4 (2.1 DOF)… to the Zeiss Batis 25 F2 … they are much closer in true focal length and only 30 grams difference in weight even though the Batis has WR.
No, it won’t be usable on a FF Fuji, but then, I don’t want a FF Fuji. It’s not an apples to apples comparison, no. Such a comparison is actually impossible, because they are different size sensors. The Batis suffers from the same problem, because that’s f/2 and so not equivalent on an A6000.
This is a subjective opinion the admin and I and many others hold. You can’t someone prove us wrong with stats. I’ve tried most of the Sony stable, and I didn’t like how they felt. The image quality was better in some instances, but not so much that it really mattered. Not so much that I felt wow, that makes me a better photographer. However, liking the haptics of the Fuji…that makes me shoot more, and yes, that makes me a better photographer.
These rumor sites are a bit like religious sect sites 🙂 A religious style war over camera brand that will never end……..
Which camera is best? Depends on:
– Your photographic aims and ambitions
– Your personality
– Your budget
If you can’t make great photo with any current ILC, the problem is behind the camera, i.e. you.
To realize my photo ambitions, requiring plenty resolution and dynamic range, I am very happy with my A7RII. A X-T1 is great in many ways, but for me would just not do it.
Looking at actual photos by rumor site readers, Fujistas are more artistic than the others. To them, technical brilliance is not that important. Some may even shot OOC jpg rather than RAW (which can be absolutely OK)
Fuji users are the new Leica users… “But my camera is SPECIAL!!!” Just TELL Fuji to kaizen up a FF X100 instead of defending legitimate issues as ‘charms.’ And before you start being like TROLLL understand that I think you’re right, Fuji cameras ARE special. I WANT to use a Fuji, but if I’m gonna shell out for it I don’t want to feel like I’m getting a trumped up D7100. The Leica Q is amazing, I shot with it. Fuji was supposed to attract Leica users with better cameras at a better price, but they’ll never do it with an old consumer format. Why isn’t Fuji amazing anymore?
All this noise and youre not even a fuji cam owner? Geez! buy the leica Q already.
If your not happy with the direction of the company is taking, look else where. You’re like a child that screams, “if you dont give me what I want, Im going to hold my breath until I turn blue”.
Never used a Fuji camera and I hope to one day but at the moment I’m still satisfied with Canon. Portability is what makes me want to invest in first Fuji camera, but the lack of new sensors is what’s holding me down. I am quite sure that the new version of X100 will finally make me pull the trigger and be happy with the camera for many years.
I hear you ~ I would wait for the next generation of cameras, as the sensor in the current cameras is dated, though still very good.
Wait…you’re a Canon user and you’re complaining about Fuji’s lack of a sensor update….hahahahahah.
Sony is an excellent electronics company.Their cameras are awesome (on paper). But then, they castrate them. Lossy compressed Raws is one example.
Looking at the A7r II that is like building a Bugatti and then putting a 60mph speed limiter on it!
Yeah the months and months and months of people getting crap raw output from the xtrans didn’t happen. Pay no attention to the small sensor with wonky output.
True, but umad?! is right too. Sony continues to limit its RAW files to a lossy file format, which is compressed. Whether one cares or not is another matter.
The output wasn’t crap…. The incamera convertor got it right, it was only third party software that screwed up…and fuji should have helped them. But by no means it is sensor related
…no from my experience shooting it…it’s more like a Bugatti that goes 200MPH rather that 225MPH… 99.5% of the time the Lossy raws will have no ill effect on the image…. .5% of the time you may have an issue.. Still I would like Sony to add lossless or uncompressed raws to the camera as an option…even if frames per second drops …
I totally agree with you here, and in a similar analogy, I would say the Sony is the Bugatti, and the Fuji is the Porsche 911. Maybe it’s not as fast as the Bugatti, maybe the engine isn’t as big, but damn it’s a lot of fun, and I’m not Alonso, so it’s not like it matters in the end.
Fuji is more like a Donckervoort d8 to me
Yeah. How about the non-standard ISO fuji puts into their x mount cameras?
please, enlighten us. How is it non-standard?
Fuji as part of the CIPA can choose between two standards for defining ISO. They did so with SOS.
But I know, you just want to troll/hate
>nickname “umad?!”
>accuses others of trolling
Well played, sir.
I agree – I changed from Lumix GH3 to Fuji X-T1 not because of anything the specifications said, but simply because the X-T1 was nice to use, as where I found the GH3 simply frustrating and annoying. I don’t care what the specifications say, I want a camera that I actually enjoy using becasue I am an amateur, I take pictures for FUN. OK, I sell a few too.
same here 🙂
It seems the camera wars remind as a kid and kids argued over Sega Genesis vs Super Nintendo. Same old thing. The internet is a great tool in short spurts but it’s mostly snake oil salesman in a new era selling you products based on opinions not facts. I like my Fuji XT-1 a lot but I also like all the other brands. I’d love to get my hands on a Canon 7d Mark II or a Nikon D300s or hoping for a D400. Pentax K3 also a great camera and build quality. For my big hands the Nikon F5 and F4 still feel amazing. Live within your means enjoy what you have. Guys with cameras are like girls never satisfied with what they have always looking for the next best thing.
Basically, this article means, feelings wins over performance. As I am not paid as a photographer, that doesn’t matter. I’ll just grab a camera I like to use. However, I think it also marked the fact that Fuji is not going to touch FF cameras in terms of image quality (though not everyone need that).
I am laughing out loud over here Patrick. Sony announced the new a7sii this morning. Crack Sonyelphapromotions (aka SonyAlphaRumors) admin Andreas never saw this one coming. He had absolutely no idea that Sony was going to drop this camera on the market before this morning’s announcement, proving once again that he really has NO IDEA what Sony is up to. Meanwhile he is rapidly deleting every comment on that site that is critical of him, and there are many, because as has been evidenced on multiple occasions now, he has no reliable sources within Sony (apparently they have frozen him out entirely) and he knows no more than the man on the street but pretends that he does.
I know Andrea… he’s a good guy and works hard. He has provided reliable information over serveral years. Now, he didn’t saw the A7sII coming, but this happens. We are rumor sites: sometimes we are right, sometimes we are wrong, and sometimes we do not see it coming.
And he covers with decication and lots of effort everything about Sony. This alone makes SAR an amazing website.
Sure, companies are working hard to control the leaks, so everyone, who thinks we cooperate with brands to create excitement should simply shut up forever.
Oh, one last thing… Andrea of SAR became father a month ago… this is an excellent reason to be distracted from Rumors… don’t you think? 😉
I am going to have to disagree with you Patrick. Andreas has crossed a line which I think no self-respecting admin should cross. He filters that site based on content of communication and not because someone has been acting abusively towards others. You cannot disagree with Andreas or his views and you certainty cannot criticize him when he has failed to do the job which he holds himself out for. He will simply block you.
I don’t fault him for getting bad rumors as long as he identifies their weaknesses. But he has missed so many times for two reasons. First, as an e-mount promoter, he too often falls into the trap of believing false rumors about e-mount and then he compounds that error by offering his own speculation (but not pointing out that he is just speculating). That might be forgiveable, but more damning is his utter inability to acquire any information about what Sony is really up to. There is a new a mount coming. Its pretty obvious. What information does Andreas have about that? Zero. And the fact that he lacks any information about what is going on inside Sony was proven once again by the fact that he had NO CLUE that the a7sii was going to be announced this morning.
What self-respecting admin who claims to have insider knowledge about Sony does not see that as a failing? To compound the error, his reaction to his screw up has been completely defensive. Instead of standing up to his critics like a man, he is failing to acknowledge his error and is blocking left and right the many commenters on the site who have been calling him out on this. That’s just plain cowardly.
I haven’t watched your site that long Patrick, but I don’t think that is the way you are doing business over here. Nope. Good guy, or bad guy, baby or no baby, I think my comment was spot on.
time for bit or rumor background:
Sources share & don’t share. It’s cyclical, we can’t always
control that. Sometimes we drop emails, and they reply with precise information,
sometimes we write tons of emails, but we don’t hear anything for
months… and then, BUM, they are back with tons of information.
This happens with FR, and it happens also with SAR. Andrea might have some difficulties at the moment, but it could easily be that in a few months he will spread tons of correct rumors as he always did in the past.
About deleting comments, I haven’t read them, so I can’t say if there were insults and personal offences against Andrea. What I see now is that he is replying to comments critizing his work. My guess is that he deleted those comments that were insults against Andrea, and not critics to his work.
But as said, I had a busy day… and could not really follow the comments on SAR in real time.
Anyway, you are the only one, who can really judge for yourself if Andrea’s way to handle the situation is good or bad. And what else can I do, than respect your feelings for or against SAR? Nothing… I just can offer you a different perspective. Maybe it helps to get a more complete overview of the situation, maybe not.
Just don’t be angry with him… better drop him an email an ask about his comment policy.
Patrick. I think you are a good guy for spending time on this.
Look. Asking someone not to be angry when they are blocked is a little like asking them not be angry when they are slapped in the face. Probably not too realistic.
As for the reason I was blocked, I pointed out in a comment why a rumor that Andreas was giving so much credibility to was flaky (with stated, logical reasons based on an analysis of the comment) and I pointed out that Andreas was speculating without him identifying that he was speculating (something he promised he would never do again after a previous screw-up). I may have also criticized Andreas for having an inability to obtain any a-mount news and for focusing on e-mount to the near absolute exclusion of any a mount news. (I don’t recall specifically.) At all times my tone was perfectly respectful, and my points were backed up. But I was strongly critical of Andreas . . . no doubt.
Rather than respond and defend his position (or just let it go) Andreas made the coward’s choice to hit the block button. That behavior continues today. You have to read between the lines a bit but not too hard to figure out. There’s just too many deleted comments to believe that everyone who has been blocked today is commenting inappropriately. Not a stand up guy in my book, and frankly, after today, I think he’s kind of losing it. And he’s killing his own blog because diverse points of view are being filtered out.
P.S. In regards to the particular rumor, my recollection is that I was correct and Andreas was wrong. The rumored development never occurred.
Oh, I see… you’re one of the blocked people. Well, I guess I have to hear also Andrea on that, before being able to make any conclusion. I still see him replying to comments similar to yours, so I wonder why he blocked you. I’ll ask him maybe in the weekend.
Anyway, I can understand your irritation, which, if I’m not wrong with my intuition, existed also previously to the failed A7SII rumor… an irritiation that you maybe feel towards him for a longer time now, since it seems you are overall not really safisfied with the work of Andrea over the last weeks.
Again, not trying to defend anyone… just to undersand the different perspectives. But in any case I’m not the person nor is FujiRumors the place, where we can clarify this.
I renew my invitation to let the irritation sediment and then drop him an email.
Andrea is a woman’s name right ?
In some countires it’s a woman’s name, in others a man.
Not going to crucify anyone merely for making mistakes. The “irritation” as you put it stems from Andreas holding himself out as representing all “Sony Alpha” users when, in reality, he is an e-mount owner who single-mindedly promotes only e-mount and pretty much ignores a-mount news. That is compounded by the fact that he doesn’t have any real insights into what Sony is up to. He just shamelessly promotes e-mount. But the final straw is the content-based blocking. I guess he doesn’t feel that he has to accept criticism . . . and you know what? I don’t have to waste anymore of my time there. But enough Andreas talk on the Fuji rumors forum. I’m done with SonyElphaPromotions. I think I will spend my time here.
the real problem with A-mount is not SAR, but Sony itself… the company ignores A-mount and puts all efforts into E-mount. IMO, you should critic Sony, not Andrea on this.
But let’s stop it here. This really isn’t the place to talk about it.
Totally right! You should get your money back.
Or at least my time!
I don’t think anyone has an idea about what Sony is up to.
After yesterday, that much seems pretty clear.
not even Sony.
Totally agree. It seems to me they haven’t figured out a long-term plan yet. They must be focusing on survival right now, so only short-term goals are made.
The A7r is a chore to shoot with, personally I wouldn’t use it for anything more than tripod landscapes and product shots – the A7rII raised the bar considerably when it comes to shooting experience. Unless you need the resolution, the XT1 should be a much better shooting experience. Though personally I hate needing two dials to get the exact shutter speed I want.
To each his own, its nice to have choices.
Cheers
By ‘chore to shoot with’ what do you mean? As long as you’re not doing anything beyond shutter/exposure/aperture, the Sony and Fujifilm are pretty much even, though the Sony is simpler, precisely because it doesn’t require you to move two dials.
I think the idea of ‘chore’ comes from some people preferring what they interpret to be a more hands-on feel, and finding the Sony too digital.
But in terms of speed of basic, photographic operation, it is faster to operate, and in a sense, less of a chore than the Fujifilm.
That said, I dislike the A7r a bit more than the X-T1, but generally consider their operational control system on par one with the other.
When I say chore, I mean the camera is slow, unresponsive, has issues with its heavy handed shutter, the chintzy plastic mount, and has laughably bad AF compared to pretty much any other camera. The A7rII is such a dramatic improvement on all fronts, powers up almost instantly, fast/accurate AF and no issues with that clunky shutter, much better build and so on.
I own the A7rII and I really like it, it’s so much better to shoot with than any of its siblings. If Fuji would ratchet up its video specs I would ditch my Sony and plow all that cash into more Fuji. Sadly that doesn’t seem like it’s ever going to happen.
Cheers
There you go. It serves no one at all to use unspecific, and lazy language.
I agree on most fronts. The A7r isn’t poorly built, but it has some major problems. Still, I’d put it on par (build wise as far as non-sealing is concerned) with the X-Pro 1 and X-T1. That said, my A7r’s sensor got scratched by a feather duster whereas my X-Pro 1 I cleaned with the thumb of my t-shirt to no ill ends.
As to ergonomics, the only thing I really hate about the A7r VS the X-T1 is its round back dial that is too easy to change settings. Still, it competes pretty fairly with Fujfilm’s poor exposure adjustment (two dials necessary to change one setting).
Even my wife, who is not invested at all in cameras, complains more about the X-T1 than she did about her Nikon D5000. Poor design is poor design. It doesn’t matter that ‘enthusiasts’ prefer the X-T1 to the competition.
It’s the same in audio: the more the marketing works your brain in, the more you are susceptible to believing the marketing. Sony’s marketing is all about the tech. Fujifilm’s, on the other hand, is all about convincing you that they understand HOW and WHY a photographer shoots.
Hogwash.
They appeal to the person that really really really wants a Leica. Or a digital Nikon FM3. Persons that are either closet hipsters (not that they’d admit it; rather, they’d prefer to call me out as a troll) or people full of nostalgia for the ‘old ways’, not caring that all modern cameras, dials or wheels, or buttons, make use of electronic connections.
If you own the A7rii, which costs almost 3x what the most expensive current Fujfilm camera costs, why would you ditch it in an instant if Fujfilm did you bidding?
That is a serious waste of dosh. Which is fine with me. I use the A7r because it delivers the resolution I need with the sensor size I prefer, and way faster/better controls for tripod use (my job keeps me on tripod and bellows about 99% of the time).
The a7r’s card door flexes like its rubber, the lens mount is plastic and the grip/dials were vastly improved with the mkII versions.
As far as ditching Sony for Fuji, it’s all about the lenses, which Sony still lacks. But Fuji is so lethargic with video I’m sure the FE lineup will be well sorted before Fuji video is worth actually using.
The hated two dial approach is solved with the latest firmware so that shouldnt have to be in your post, as its a false negative point. Set it in T mode and use the dial, you can set any shutterspeed you want without touching the shutterdial. Be sure to have firmware 4.0
No, having a shutter speed dial is all Fuji have going for them, don’t disregard this with your facts.
I don’t understand why these systems keep being compared
1) There aren’t many mirrorless cameras.
2) They are similarly priced.
3) Fuji actually has a higher rate of profit.
“There is no need to dig into menus most of the time if you set it up clever ” … Well, I agree with this statement at least…. If you take the time to properly configure the Sony A7rII you won’t need to go into the menu very much…. after that it’s all about personal preference… the experience is very DSLR like operationally … which is just fine for me… but don’t get me wrong…I’m darn happy that Fujifilm makes quality digital cameras…and I will never sell my X100s… but for me, the capabilities of the A7rII are for real and very useful…..
I like many of the statements in the above. I feel anyone who says they are a “photographer” wants to feel engaged with the camera and there is a need for some level of tactile feedback too. Talk to new shooters and they eventually find they want an old Nikon FM or the sort to play with as well. This is where Fuji has jumped well ahead of the others and delivered cameras that not only perform but bring pleasure to creating those images. Call me a romantic or call me a photographer, either way I love using my XT1…….. till the next X100 comes out 🙂
I love shooting with my X-Pro 1, but at lower ISO settings, I prefer the files from my DP Merrills. If I could combine the two cameras – fuji controls and viewfinder with the 1:1 Fovean sensor, but with sufficient ISO performance up to ISO 3200 – that would be my dream camera. Unfortunately, that will never happen.
I am hopeful that Fuji will release the X-Pro 2 or X-T2 with a significant improvement in resolution and dynamic range. While a bayer or bayer-like sensor will never resolve details like a 1:1 sensor, I would prefer resolution and dynamic range closer to my DP Merrills.
I think Fuji is getting into a better spot each day. As Sony camera prices seem to sky rocket with each model release – there comes a bigger gap between ff mirror less and apsc, making the decision between the two based on quality harder. I for one think apsc is a great sweet spot of price and performance (I think micro 4/3rds is too much of a compromise – especially with the iPhone 6s release – looks pretty capable). I just hope that with the next release Fuji can nail autofocus even better and implement solid video
Sony wins not just on paper, but in the market too. No nice design and ergonomics are going to help you if you are not going to provide good value.
Ah yes, good value. Current UK prices for the standard zoom lenses.
Fuji 16-55mm f2.8 – £753 (has received lots of very positive reviews)
Sony 24-70 f2.8 MkII £1,799 (the first version had to be replaced because of its poor optical performance on the edges of the frame)
Now what was that about good value again?
You are comparing APS-C to FF. Compare APS-C to APS-C. 16-50/2.8 for sony A is $600 in the kit and off kit everywhere. Fuji 16-50/2.8 is $1050 after discounts. And such a wide lens is much simpler to make for short flange.
But I was talking more about the cameras, like a6000 vs X-T10.
Ahahaha! You aren’t even talking about the right lens.
Try telling Sony you have a problem with your new a7ii and see how long it takes to get an answer,i’m still waiting,at least Fuji listen and get back with an answer,Sony after sales 0 – Fuji 1.
I’ve found out that since I shoot all manual, I don’t use the knobs and wheels so much so the difference isn’t that big. But I have to agree that the x-pro 1 interface and handling is nicer even if x-pro 1 is a very slow beast.
I agree, the x-t1 is great. Ergonomically the grip and shutterbutton of the new sony’s are better. But for the rest, Since I’m with Fuji i’m never tempted to go any other brand . One thing that fuji did best is to make small camera’s but not too small. You can see sony comming back from that and each model is getting bigger again. Fuji got it right in the first place. Also the dials on x-t1 are great. Even that the new t mode allows for setting shutterspeed by dial, I still use the shutterdial. The only thing is that I tend to bumb the drive mode once and a while…. Well if thats it… I’d rather wait for a new Fuji. Every body sony puts out, fuji learns from it too and they will come up with a camera that kicks ass… Now let the rumors begin, while I have a photoshoot to prepare in amsterdam city today.
I dont know if Fuji would pick up any newer sensors. That is not tradition of the X-trans cameras.
Okay, I must add something to the Fuji hype. I disagree that the fuji totally disapears… Last week I happended to be in the funpark de efteling, as an old man came up to me asking: you still should an old film camera. Do you? Then I showed him the lcd on the back and he said. A I see it now. Neat stuff. What brand is it? :p these are nice moments for the fuji photographer.
I agree that the Fuji X-T1 is a joy and delight to hold. I’ve held one in a shop and thought so, in as few words. Loved it.
But of the two, I’d buy the Sony like a shot.
Simple reason: I know photographers like to look at every aspect apart from megapixel-count, pretend like they don’t matter, but over here in the world of 30-40″ prints, while I can construct a large image off a 12-megapixel sensor if I wanted, it’s a heck of a lot easier if you start closer to the required size in the first place.
Actually, given a choice of *three*, I’d probably buy an Oly at the moment – the fancy one with the sensor-shift superresolution to give 64MPel RAW files. That’s cheaper and would move half my workflow into the camera.
Every system has its charms. People pick the one they like. A7ii is my camera and it replaced A7 for it had build in stbailization and my hands are shaky. Olumpus is nice and has unique features but is not my thing smallish sensor, no grip (except on super ugly for me M1). Same with Fuji X-T1 – extremely well made camera but not my thing – the flat grip or the lack of one is very uncomfortable and unphotographic, technology in X-T1 leaves a lot to be desired. I love to have beefy grip a lots of techy features. That is me there are definetly poeple who would prefer the other brands.
You should be ready for the storm Patrick. The whole notion of a Fuji camera “disappearing” compared to a Sony is hyperbole at its finest. Any camera will “disappear” when you know how to use it. The new Alphas have such a high level of configuration that everything the photographer needs, both basic exposure and more esoteric features like IBIS controls or Eye-AF are a button click away, no menu diving. I’ve owned many Fuji cameras, starting with the original X100 and this claimed uniqueness is bunk. All of these devices are digital with a modicum of manual control, it all comes down to how you configure and learn your tool.
As said in the article, I respect your opinion. Personally I’m more of the opinion of dpreview, when they say in their X-T10 review:
“So who should buy the X-T10? Anyone looking for a digital camera
that feels, handles and shoots like, well, an actual camera and not an
electronic device. […] the X-T10 is hands down the most pleasurable of the bunch to us. Fujifilm makes cameras for people who love cameras, not specs“
But also dpreview’s conclusion are at the end just a personal consideration. For my taste their comment was spot on, but that’s just me.
Of course we all have personal preference and I shot Fuji for several years and enjoyed the experience but this meme is superficial at best and definitely becoming a cliche. When I use my a7 bodies, I’m pretty sure they are cameras and not electronic devices. The joy I get from shooting them is advanced even further when I see the result.
At the end of the day, we have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to camera choices. There is a camera system for every need and preference.
I agree. Had the a7R II in my hands in the Sony Store Berlin yesterday for a few snaps with my memory card inside. No problem with operating the camera, it is quite comprehensive, has less wheels than my X-T1 (that I do not use anyway except the comp wheel that the Sony has as well).
The sensor performance together with the in body stabilzation in the a7RII is nothing short of amazing. I shot in the store at ridiculously low ISOs handheld and got amazingly detailed shots.
I have no doubt: My X-T1 does 90% of what I need and shoot, but the latest Sony A7rII is just the state of the art.
As for ease of use, “the camera for photographers instead of technicians” and all those Fuji cliches: In the last 15 years it never took me more than 2-3 weeks to learn to
use any camera half or fully blind. Canon, Nikon, Fuji: 4-5 buttons and wheels – where is
the problem? Just a problem for people who have 2-3 systems and flip all
the time.
It is certainly interesting to see how people really have different ways of understanding what a photography tool is. Even more interesting is that nowadays, when it comes to mirrorless forums, nobody even compares to Canon and Nikon anymore (disregarding trolls here). It is Fuji vs Sony vs Olyponic.
True. Look at this guy’s video review of A7RII – and he is an avid Nikon guy. He is head over heels and basically says it is flawless https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igcxMfaqoCo&feature=youtu.be
i don’t know why (Some shit) fuji guy (Or fanboy) try to compare their camera to the Sony FullFrame
Fuji is APS-C not Full Frame
Why ? Sony try to move forward , try to make a good tools , workhorse camera
this is the camera not for still photo only but Videographer too
as i use camera like tools for my work , in camera IS help me , help my work for vdo and low light situation that 4K XAVCS that SLOG is very useful compare to fuji that can’t do many thing in vdo mode
fuji Beautiful design don’t help my work , but for a toy ,for a gadget it looks good
for me who use camera for work , i choose sony
if i choose camera for travel , I choose fuji
#Damn you fuji why you won’t make workhorse full frame camera like Sony A7R II , A7S II , 5D MK3 , D800 i wait it so longgggggg time
=====================
in 2015
Sony go to make camera in Canon , Nikon Way a camera for work ,for professional (FS7 FS5 A7SII A7RII A7II)
and Fuji go to make camera for Hobbylist not for pro (XT10 , XA-2 for selfie guy )
i don’t think which one is better , their are good in different way.

that Sony control is no problem for me , if you use new camera system , you should learn about it , giving time for it , that is the same problem when i move form Nikon to Fuji in many year ago
for me who use camera for work , i choose sony
if i choose camera for travel or gift my girlfriend , I choose fuji (XA-2)
#Damn you fuji why you won’t make workhorse full frame camera like Sony A7R II , A7S II , 5D MK3 , D800 i wait it so longgggggg time
=====================
in 2015
Sony go to make camera in Canon , Nikon Way a camera for work ,for professional (FS7 FS5 A7SII A7RII A7II)
and Fuji go to make camera for Hobbylist not for pro (XT10 , XA-2 for selfie guy )
i don’t think which one is better , their are good in different way.
Patrick, as a photographer for about 50 years I’m finished now with a X-T1. It’s like the old days that I started with a Leica F, followed by M2, M3 and much later for more than 25 years Nikonian.
I’m so happy with that camera and especially his glasswork, outstanding good. I’ve seen that Sony stuff, but all the plastics gives me the shiffers. Brrrrrr, not good.
It’s like choosing a wife, the nicer she looks, but that’s it. Nothing else.
Keep on doing the good job Patrick and sorry for my school English. Regards peter (Holland)
