If you’re wondering why I chose the settings I did, it was to slow down the shutter speed to overcome camera shake from shutter shock. One of the reasons I’m eagerly anticipating the Mark II and hoping this gets addressed.

Quite a few A77’s on here this week. The RX100MK3 pic is awesome as well.
Why the heck are so many portraits taken with telephoto lenses?
make things look thinner.
At least one was taken with 35mm 🙂
Because the models look weird with big noses.
“Hoodwinked” is really my favorite this week, and “firefly season” is also very nice.
Cool! The fireflies in Japan have a green glow! I like it. Lots of nice photos in this one! And I’m always happy to see Stefan Grosjean’s photos, I really like his boudoir photos.
Thank you all! Great choice! This is the 9-th photo this year! 🙂
The following comments are in and of themselves only my opinion, and should be taken as such, and not to be taken as limiting the validity of the art shared or the comments by others on this or any other post.
+Yuri Afanasiev: There is “better” ways to express a female, and you seem to have captured one instance of that better way here.
Hans Herbig: A lot less documentary and a lot more creativity might bring out the “interest” of the photo.
Calvin Taylor: Nice capture. I’d crop some of the negative space from the top to get the eyes to the upper third.
Carlos Rodrigues Silva: Nice portrait. Clean, clear, and concise.
Note Sri: Technically good ‘cept for the blown out sky. Seems to me to need a llama; the few people that are there are subtractive, not additive.
Tula Top: Great moment in time captured. Something missing though… maybe the width. A panorama might have set the stage better for the viewer since we were not there? Greens are as they were via human sight?
José Ramos: Not your fault that I have been inundated with such photographic captures that whether good or bad I care not to see one again for a long while.
Stefan Schopohl: Technically good, but I find it not interesting or compelling. That being said, there is a potential in the capture, you just need to find it less it remains a snapshot.
Dancook (via SonyAlphForum): Her face is the subject, not the bouquet. The bouquet has the correct expose, but her face is blown out on her right side and too contrasty on her left side. A reflector on the talent’s left side, adjusting it to just fill the face and the bouquet but not anything more to the left of her left eye will still tell the same story, but in a visually more artistically appealing way.
Stefan Grosjean: I am appreciating your effort… but.
David Terrazas Morales: I could easily see this pic on a banner or billboard or in a magazine… though it might need more room to the right or left for text or product.
Pedro Santos: Okay. It is okay. What is the story other than you were there to take this pic?
Calle Sigrell: A product shot or just something cool photographed? There is more there… do you see it?
Tom Wirtz: I love that “light” which lit this pic. I am not keen on the building falling away, so a little adjustment in post, assisted immensely by allowing for cropping when getting the capture, would be beneficial.
William Leong: Why? What did you see that this picture is not projecting to someone other than you?
Jake Jung: Just not interesting at all, to me.
No chance for pano, conditions changing by the second and the window through the clouds closed within a minute or two. Plus there were too many distracting elements outside this frame, hence the tight crop that excludes even a foreground. Greens are as they are…not sure why one would decide to alter the color of evergreens. Thanks.
No one respects unsolicited critique from an anonymous internet commentator without credentials.
You are speaking for all people? What are your credentials for speaking for all people? Clearly giving my real name is not being “anonymous”. The aforementioned pretty much invalidates your opinion, and if that doesn’t enough, your stupidity surely does.
Witcheater is your real name? Link(s) to your work – where are they? I give my full name and link to my work all the time. I previously linked to my site before SAR switched to discus. My work has been shown in the SAR Sunday exhibition. My work is also frequently seen in newspapers, financial web sites, et al. and published every week.
But my willingness to put a name and background to my comments is immaterial to the basic truth that there is a lack of respect for anonymous judgements. Your inability to argue against my viewpoint without a personal attack (“…your stupidity surely does”) speaks volumes about your credibility and character.
Meanwhile, photography competitions and portfolio reviews at PhotoPlus, Imaging USA expo, et al. feature judges of renown whose expertise and experience are clearly spelled out in their bios. Maybe you are a world renowned, amazingly skilled photographer – no one will respect you as such without your demonstrating it.
In short, no one gives a $hit about your armchair opinions about the photos. Don’t like the photos? Prove that you can do better and lead by example. Unless you can cite and link to the source on SAR where your critique (or anyone’s) has been solicited for this weekly exhibition.
Not on Disqus you blockhead. Damn, does everything have to spelled out for you even though it is right before you eyes?
I betcha you do not realize that you are projecting your issues onto me to make yourself seem not so bad to yourself.
By the comments on my comments, there are some who respect an honest opinion and there are those that do not take so kindly to what I might say. But I do specify that what I say is only my opinion, so people can take it as they so desire to. Yes, there are times when I am shown to be incorrect, here and elsewhere, but that is part of the whole process called learning and thinking. You might try it for a while.
Stating the fact that you are displaying stupidity does speak volumes about my credibility and character. It says that I am willing to call you out on some specificity of your public stupidity publicly. Yes, that is by several considered not politically correct, but that is not my concern, and not the concern of many others. If it is your concern, and your panties are getting all bunched up, I suggest not being so manginal, or manginal at all.
Here is something for you to consider, refute what I said about each posted photograph. Tell all of us what you think about the quality of composition and technique of post. Give us all your “opinion” in a clear and concise manner so we all can learn from your expertise in the complete process of photography. Come on man, man up to the challenge!
I could pass this up but I am not going to for it is that you are once again being so blantantly stupid. If someone is world renowned, someone has already demonstrated that they are a skilled photographer to the world (whatever world that may be).
It is still funny how you keep on speaking for “everyone”. Damn, you sound like you have no idea who you are so you claim the invalidity of the one in comparison to an obscure group called “everyone”.
Ah so your reply is stupid, stupid, stupid and yet you failed to answer the one question I posed to you: where does it say that these photographers are seeking your or anyone’s critique?
This is not a portfolio review, as a prior contributor to this online Sunday gallery, I can tell you that I am not looking opinions or critique from the mostly trolling vocal minority on here.
Have you contributed any of your photos to this gallery?
Most of your opinions are rubbish. You criticized Yuri and Stefan – both masters of glamour photography. What are your credentials sir? I ask you publicly. Or will you respond again with: “Uh gee…stupid stupidity huh duh…?”
Like I said, it is only my opinion. Any photographer can do whatever they want in any way that they want whether I or anyone else likes it or not. You did what you had to do… I applaud you for that.
