Small correction: Rolling Review of the A7 II at Planet Alpha.
THX for link to my Forum Post on Sonyalphaforum for the samyang 85mm! With the latest Firmware update 1.20 i noticed the ibis is much more efficent on my a7II Pressing half the shutter , i can really recommend it 🙂
Why is the Phoblographer so set on focus peaking? The Loxias are designed with the auto-magnification feature in mind, one of the perks of the electronic contacts. Strange that this is omitted in the review.
I find it easier to nail focus with the auto-magnification than with the flimsy AF on these Sony cameras!
Paris never was exciting. This video confirms it.
Best part of it was the music.
Probably… if you never got off the tourist bus!! (⊙﹏⊚)
You should give up photography if Paris isn’t your thing.
I’m guessing you’re either stupid or sarcastic, but I think I’m going with stupid on this one.
Have you been to Paris? If so can you please explain what you did not find exciting? Was it the creative and wonderful food, the gorgeous vistas an street views, the amazing art, the museums?
I would hate to have to view your photography if you find Paris to be anything but exciting.
This is exactly why I just sold my A7s : incredible low light performance, incredibly bad color rendition, even after post processing… Informations are just missing, the colors are not deep enough…That’s a shame. Even the very first RED ONE camera from 2007 has a ten thousand times better colors because of unbeatable 4:4:4 12 bits
Trollin trollin trollin……
Not really. I used the A7s and I found its internal 1080p Slog 2 is just great except the colors, this is not a troll… I don’t have my red one anymore but All I can see is the technology is artifcially limited on consumers products to protect prosumers gears. That’s all. I cannot understand how a 2007 red one camera (8 YEARS OLD) can still beat all the today consumer products…
Well, Sony has been known to cripple their gear in order to justify later upgrades- although, I’ve never heard of this particular complaint before.
The problem is : THIS IS NOT ONLY SONY. This is all the video market ! When for the still, there is a real evolution, and you can have amazing still camera for almost nothing, in video, we are still stuck in 4:2:0 8 bits shits, even in HD. And today we have 4K internal cameras but still in 4:2:0 8 bits shit. I would far prefer have a 4:4:4 10/12 bits 1080p on a A7s II than internal 4K.
If you disagree with anyone here, you’re a troll.
Isidore, s-log2 is a pro level setting, is obviously very flat to maximize DR, and needs competent handling when shooting and grading it. But both can been done with amazing results. I’m an Alexa shooter and recently used the A7s as a low light b-cam on a shoot that had 2 Arri Alexas with Zeiss Master Primes. I did extensive testing, as I was worried that the difference between the Alexa and the A7s is too big. When shooting in s-log2, I overexpose 2, sometimes 3 stops, depending on greys and blacks in the shot. S-log2 has a very high 3200 ISO base, therefore many people shoot at 1/1000sec to bring the exposure down. The correct way of using s-log2 is shooting at 1/50sec and using ND’s. In the end I not only ended up using most of A7s’ night footage but also some day shots, it was astonishing to see how ‘close’ the A7s shots were to the Alexa, especially in regards to skin tones. Something I can’t say about RED. I mix RED with Alexa often, every time when I need higher fps or 4K for green screen stuff. I mostly use the RED Epic for it, and my main concern with RED are the skin tones that always look artificial and too much like ‘wax’, especially in direct comparison to the Alexa. The Sony sensor renders skin tones that look way better than the RED, even at a lower bit-rate of the A7s. But as I said, s-log2 needs professional handling. If someone doesn’t have access to that, I recommend shooting in Cine-6 in which ISO can be lowered or for straight out of the box shots I use the setting “Autumn”, which is really beautiful. For both Cine-6 and Autumn I always lower contrast and detail. Pity you sold your A7s.
Did someone drop this video in a bucket of bleach ?
WOW, that gigapan is the worst example I have ever seen so far. Maybe it’s because it’s Sony gear 🙂
