This is a bit surprising! The new Panasonic Gm1 got a huge 104 Euro discount right before the release! You can grab it for 595 Euro with lens (instead of the previous 699 Euro) at Amazon Germany (all colors, via DL). Also the grip got a 22 Euro discount (Click here).
It’s a surprise to see a 22% discount before(!) a product gets even shipped for the first time!

GM1 arrived in Hong Kong 2 weeks ago already. It is around the same price in Hong Kong. It is a very good and tiny camera. I wonder can the on body flash trigger others olympus/panasonic flash to do wireless photography.
Nice! Ordered! 🙂
Is this the body only? The 12-32 lens is not listed under accessories.
Seems to be body only.
I haven’t yet seen anywhere the body only.
But it will be cheaper before Xmas.
699EUR is the list price.
Nobody buys anything on list price.
No, it’s the camera + lens. The model number is DMC-GM1KEG-K and also it says “Bei der DMC-GM1KEG handelt es sich um das Kit bestehend aus LUMIX GM1 Body (Schwarz, Silber oder Orange) mit dem Weitwinkelzoom LUMIX G Vario 12-32mm/F3,5-5,6 ASPH.” in the description which means camera + lens. 😉
I hope you are right. At the top of the page it says: “Lieferumfang:Systemkamera, Akku, Ladegerät, USB-Kabel, Trageriemen, CD-ROM”. The 12-32 is not mentioned.
Been using the Samyang 7.5mm on my PEN e-P2 and I suspect that the fish-eye would match up well on the tiny GM1? The 7.5mm requires no EVF, no LCD to use. A real street candid match …
The little grip is 77 euro ? ouch, for just a little piece of metal 🙁
Hey…you are getting more ( well, maybe)…than an Olympus lens shade! LOL!
569 € in spain store

No surprise….it’s overpriced, still Now! Same as olympus O-M1….I think so!
O-M1 ???
After 30 years he is still waiting for the price to drop further.
lol
Over-priced is a relative term. Take any other comparably built and performing camera and the price is quite a bit higher, In some cases thousands higher. This camera will run circles around any similarly priced dSLR.
I’ve said it before, Olympus and Panasonic started in the wrong direction with m43. They tried to capture the “dumber” mass market first, instead of going after the pro/enthusiast market. As a result, the format was lacking for much too long, forcing prices way down. Now they have legitimately caught up, but people balk at the prices as a result.
m4/3 will sell itself, I have no worries about that. Right now we have an abundance of choice from entry level to mid-range and right up to enthusiast. Once people (or their wives) get tired of lugging around a camel-backful of DSLR gear on holidays, they will quietly buy an m4/3 as a carry around and keep using their DSLR for studio or specialised use.
m 4/3 is in trouble. The reason being the A7 and A7r from Sony. Sony is changing the game. Small size camera, full frame sensor, $1699.99. Now you cannot sell the Olympus OM-D EM-1 for $1400.00 anymore. The price has to go down. Margins on m 4/3 will then deteriorate and Panasonic/Olympus will come under pressure.
m43 has the best lenses ever of any system. m43 is so cheap I can buy cameras and lenses with my spare change.
In fact people who buy Sony As are in trouble. They are embarking on an expense without limits, or are left to face resolution problems across the edges, slow autofocus, lack of IBIS, lack of juice and even overheating.
It’s all v. well to figure to have two times the resolution in the same body but it happens that the conditions are so many that it will happen only from time to time, perhaps in a portrait, and only when you have run dry your bank account for (the few) lenses.
Happy pimples! It’s not m4/3 which is in trouble 🙂
Sigh. Another meme we have to keep repeating over and over and over again until people get it:
Sony A7 is compact only in so far as it extends to the 35mm f2.8 lens.
That’s it. That’s all the trick that the “compact” FE system can muster. Everything else pales in comparison to m43 in terms of size. Their zoom lenses are even seriously approaching APS-C in size. Show us an FE lens that is 85mm, 100mm, 135mm? Where are they? Not even on the roadmap. Why? Cos they can’t be built small enough just yet.
LOL, the A7 is inferior in every way to the E-M1 with the exception of some improvement in image quality. Image quality is very subjective, and can only be proven in most cases by looking at 100% crops; exactly the way no normal person on earth judges a photograph. Exposure, composition and an interesting subject will trump this every single time….
The no-subjective points cannot be argued. Speed, lens size, build, customization and evf are ALL better on the E-M1.
Couple that with the huge and much more expensive lenses that will EVENTUALLY come out, and the E-M1 is far from overpriced. The ones who need to worry the most are the larger full-frame competitors.
Just ordered the black one from amazon.de. The price rose to 610 euro 8from 595 during the order process, anyway I am happy with this order 🙂
P.S. the orange one is listed 582 Euro 🙂
They change it randomly sometimes.
It happened that the price of something changed >5 times a day up and down.
Maybe you are in a country with a higher tax rate than Germany – if I buy something from Amazon UK I’m charged the Spanish tax rate of 21% instead of UK rate of 20%. It is showing €595.96 as current price
yep, that’s my opinion too.
Anyway something was wrong on amazon.de. they gave me back the money and now in my basket I have the gm1 at 699 Euro. 🙁
I am cancelling my order
It’s not worth to preorder anything you won’t miss it.
There will be enough pieces and the price might be lower.
This is a silly statement:
It’s a surprise to see a 22% discount before(!) a product gets even shipped for the first time!
The sales price is an artificial number, based on what the maker thinks the market will bear. Either Panasonic decided their original “price” was too high, or they wanted people to be able to say Discount! Discount!
Anyway it seems like a nice camera but should have an EVF like the Leica C, which is a beautiful camera rather diminished by its 12Mp sensor. Why not lose the puny flash to make room for the EVF?
Companies have their marketing strategies. So?
Want a digital CL? This camera is not for you. Do you know there’s something called the GX7? There you go.
Actually, $104 it’s a 14.88% discount odd of $699…. I think that %- rate applies to euros, too? 🙂
Well, it is Panasonic, so not so surprising. 😉 It would be surprising NOT to see discounts on their products.
I find it ridiculous that people try to compare the A7 to m43 since the two systems are completely different and serve different purposes. And as small as the A7 is, it should be compared to other FF cameras as Sony itself does. They aren’t advertising this system to be the most compact period, but the smallest and lightest FF.
Honestly I love what Sony had been doing these past couple years, and is finally showing the world how serious they are in this business, but even I see that there are uses for m43 cameras that even a comparably sized FF body couldn’t manage. I’m just tired of the fan boys out there saying m43 is dead or that m43 is better than FF. Come on people let’s get real!
