Fujirumors’ window to CP+: DAY 2

_ _ _

The Spanish site dslrmagazine (translation) had the opportunity to take some shots with the Fujifilm XM-FL Filter Lens Cap (officilly announced here, price around $90). It includes full size JPEGs.

Over at the Japanese site dc.watch you can find some more images of the new lenses. You want see nothing really new compared to the set of images shared yesterday. But it’s funny to see the big 16-55 mounted on the selfie X-A2… and the a cut of the 16-55 and 50-140.

There is also another high-res image of the upcoming lenses, spotted by FR-reader DIS. You can clearly see that the 90mmF2 is not marked as “Weather Resistant”, although Fuji Guy Greg said that it would be weather resistant. To know more about, check out this post.

    1. I would almost say it’s a sad day for Fuji, but i can’t with so many awesome mock-ups, and most interestingly for me the revised slim 90mm. 🙂

      1. For “tapir’s snout” experience I highly recommend trying an adapted Meyer-Optik Görlitz Trioplan 100mm f/2.8. Fabulous lens in its own right, but that “slim” experience is… weird 🙂

(I am exaggerating here; the new 90mm looks fantastic and very proportional))

          1. Just sold my Trioplan, it was too long for the cropped sensor.

But if Fuji decides to broaden the spectrum of “fun” lenses by adding a modern version of Coke triplet (with AF and OIS!)… that would be a hit.

    1. I hope picture qualify wise @ f/2 – f/2.8 it’s not worse than 35/1.4, that’ll justify the purchase :). Besides nice looks and slightly smaller size, and as others speculate quicker AF and less noise.

  1. That 90mm looks nice. 135mm f/2.8 in old money (FF). Some of us grew up photographically with those and as usual Fuji tend to reference the past when they come up with something new. I also had a Nikon 180mm f/2.8 35mm film lens, which the 120mm is a new APS-C version of. Looks big, but then that Nikon was a monster. Great lens though. This is turning into a very nice lens range. (To say the least!!)

    1. I had the same first reaction to the 90mm too: I have some old 135mm’s and I love shooting with them on the X-E2. I agree this lens roadmap is looking great. Better start saving those pennies!

  2. XM-FL image quality seems really poor isn’t it ? Compared to Olympus body-cap… Which filter is used in the sample ? (I hope it is the soft-gilter)

    1. It’s a toy lens, I’m not sure what people were expecting. The quality seems comparable to the Olympus. You can see full size images shot with and without the filters if you click to view the translated article.

        1. I have the 2, it’s not a bad lens, it will be replaced when the new 35 f/2 comes out in the fall. But, I can see myself having fun with the toy lens on one of my X-Pro1 bodies. It’s like owning a Harley Softtail, but having a blast riding around on a vintage Vespa or Lambretta.

  3. I can’t ever understand why so much precious engineering and design effort is wasted into a useless product like this XM-FL.

    1. Because it does not require ” precious engineering and design effort ” and probably costs 50 cents to manufacture; it could well be one on the best product margin wise for fujifilm. It looks like a back of the hand type project.

  4. Hi, i’m a nikon user, just a couple of years ago i started to enter to photography world, not proffesionaly for now. I have a D5100 and a D7100, I will sell one of those and going to buy an X100s, because I like to do street photography and will like to do some documentary photography. I think that the X100s will be a better tool for me on that branch of photography. Will keep my nikon system, because I already have a lot of money on flashes and lens, and I hope do some jobs on exterior and studio with all that.

PS: Link to dslrmagazine is wrong, it takes to a 404 error.
