X100S discontinued
You won’t be able to purchase the silver Fujifilm X100S at BHphoto anymore, since it is discontinued there… and this isn’t surprising at all.
The Fujifilm X100S was surely a winner for Fujifilm, but now the superior Fujifilm X100T hit the market… and for the same price of the X100S! The only way for Fujifilm to get rid of the last X100S in stock, is to offer huge savings on it. At the moment, you can save $200 on the X100s at BHphoto, AmazonUS. Adorama and Pictureline.
SAVE up to $200 on XF lenses (including the XF 56mmf/1.2): BHphoto / AmazonUS / Adorama / Pictureline

And so it starts…awesome!
In stock but takes 17-20 days to get to you? Ridiculous. I highly doubt they’re actually in stock.
There’s no way to choose a faster shipping option either
are you sure of it? Becuase i read: “In Stock (Ships within 24 hours)”
When you go to checkout it tells me it will take 17-20 days to get to you. I reached out to them on Twitter and they told me only silver is in stock and it will be sent by express 3-6 business days after order.
Which means…doesn’t ship for a few days AND takes 17-20. At least to australia. Seems shifty!
Edit: also means black isn’t in stock
Hey, we’re the DRTV team but feel we need to clarify for the online store that the screencap in the article is of the silver version which ships in xx time, but if you click the black version the shipping estimate will update to yy time. Thanks, Steve
very expensive, “old” sensor, “old” AF (two years old) ..but if you like to have old tech. buy it
“You should never use camera to make your pictures. You use yourself, your experience, to make the pictures, with the camera. Not the other way around.” – Antonin Kratochvil
In this case, old sensor, new sensor, doesn’t make any difference at this point, it just works. This one should work a little better, save a little time here and there. The sensor doesn’t need improving, just like Tri-x film doesn’t need improving.
Saying things like ‘the sensor doesn’t need improving’ isn’t really that useful. My Pentium II running Windows NT4 and Office 97 I used 15 years ago didn’t need improving, but it went out of date, fast. A sensor, a lens design, a film emulsion, or anything else photographic can and should be subject to improvements over time, or else we face a drab and sidelined future.
That all being said, I think Mauro’s post encapsulates all that has gone horribly wrong with photography today. No words, just ‘ugh!’
imho..If you already own the X100S, there’s no need to go buy the X100T. It’s essentially the same thing.
And IMHO, anyone thinking of replacing a two year old model with a new model of anything is a tool… of the manufacturers. Use a camera until it becomes unviable. The X100T makes sense for people who own an X100, and for those who have resisted the temptation to buy into the whole Fuji X100 thing, at which point things like WiFi become a useful selling point.
Except that your Pentium II with NT4 became obsolete as you could not run many apps and many more by the day so you HAD to replace it. Whilst you can still take wonderful pictures with a 10 years old body and lens (or last year’s model in this instance)
Yes, of course you can use an older camera. I used a Nikon D70 from 2004-2010, and only upgraded because it I bent a CF pin, and the cost of repair was more than the value of the D70.
The point is, however, that a 10 year old sensor might make a wonderful image, but that doesn’t mean 6MP is all you ever need, any more than 12MP, 16MP, 24MP or anything else is all you need either.
the X100T is mostly the same camera as the X100s with the exception of a new film mode and built in WiFi.. The camera retains the same 16.3MP APS-C sensor that the X100s has along with the same 23mm f2 pancake lens and with the next firmware update x100s will have the same shutter speed..too. imho..If you already own the X100S, there’s no need to go buy the X100T. It’s essentially the same thing.
I love it, will do!
I know it’s only a temporary annoyance, but having pre-ordered one myself, I wish Fuji would offer firm release dates, if they really ARE the “Apple of the photography world”. As it is, my X-T1’s in the shop getting repaired and I’m cameraless with no idea when the X100T will arrive 🙁
So how about a FW Update for the x100s then?
I would order one but…x-trans raw developing is on early stages.
“the superior Fujifilm X100T” – Bawahahahahahahahahahah
I don’t know if I’d go that far with a unit shipping with the same processor, sensor and lens. But you can keep trying to sell those click link commissions, I wont hold it against you.
it’s a fact, it’s superior. Even the IQ, due to the much improved signal processing. And then there is the new HVF, the WiFi, the bigger LCD screen, the better video controls, the electronic shutter, more customizable buttons and a lot of stuff more on the firmware side. To me, this makes the X100T superior to the X100S.
My x100 had sticky shutter and then my x100s had 4-5 dust and fiber getting into the viewfinder. Might not be issue for many but annoyed me enough to sell it. Fuji cameras are over all well built for the price but the sealing can definitely be better.
