$900 off on the Sony A99 (24 hours deal on eBay).

[shoplink 24820 ebay][/shoplink]

The Sony A99 sells for $1899 only on [shoplink 24820 ebay]eBay US (Click here)[/shoplink]!!! This is an official eBay US deal that runs for 24 hours only!

First time I see such a big deal on the A99. And as far as I know no replacement is in sight yet (A77 successor will come first).

  1. I have to admit, for a country that doesn’t get very good deals on electronics (still much better than the Eurozone of course), that really is quite cheap…

  2. Last April I purchased the A99-SLT with the VG-99AM vertical
grip with two extra batteries, HVL-F60M flash, two Sony 32G SD cards, and a
lens cleaning kit for $2799 with no tax and free shipping. The optional accessories
are over $900, so the unbundled price of $1899 sounds about right, but doesn’t
represent a savings over the bundle price. It does give the option of buying
the body separately. In my case I wanted the flash and grip so it was a great
    deal.

      1. Good to know. I’d rather be handicapped than my camera. Poor a99, screwed over by a mirror blocking all that beautiful light.

        1. It’s half a stop worse than 5d3 at high ISO. It is superior at low ISO. So if you actually, you know, light your photos it produces great results.

          1. I’m just messing around. I plan on buying the a99 as my next camera. I don’t care about the mirror at all. I don’t think it matters as much as people say. Sold my a77 to fund the transition, and currently just run with an a900.

        2. Actually, mirror and all, the A99 is one stop better in color depth than the 5D MkIII, 2.3 stops better in dynamic range. Since it is just a half-stop worse than in high-ISO (to say nothing of being less noisy at low ISO), overall it is a MUCH better sensor.

    1. If you had enough money to buy 10, you would be much smarter and refrain from making stupid comments like this. You also would not be spending your time at this community, given the fact that you clearly hate Sony.

  3. there were couple SR4 rumors about a99 successor coming first or second quarter of 2014 in the last couple months. so SR4 were really just SR1

  4. there’s not really a successor for the A77 in sight either, only rumors, or are you ( Admin) holding info behind, it’s time for some real info about the A79 !!!!

  5. Well, how exactly did the A99 ever outperform D610 or 6D? Or: what has justified a price north of either of them? EVF vs. OVF is a matter of taste. IBIS vs. OS is a matter of focal lenght. What else…

        1. I own one I really like it. I only paid $2299.99 for the body a couple of months after it came out. Its an excellent camera.

    1. At the time of my purchase the 610 was not available, so lets compare the A99 to the D600 which I considered prior to selecting the A99. Initially the D600 was cheaper and had the Sony sensor with was the best available, but the Sony bundle deal reduced the price of the body to less than or about equal to the D600. I’m glad now that I decided on the Sony and avoided the oil contamination issue which took Nikon almost a year to address with the recently recall announcement. I did not consider the Canon 6D due to the lower resolution and much lower dynamic range sensor, lack of features. The 5DM3 was several hundred dollars more expensive than the A99 and really offered no advantages for my use. The 5DM3 sensor lacks the dynamic range of the Sony sensor.

Following is a list of some of the features helping to seal the deal on the A99 vs. the 600.

      • Articulated LCD screen with higher resolution (1.229 meg vs. 921K)

      • Better shutter with first curtain 1/8000 sec max shutter speed. Not as well oiled as the D600 shutter. 🙂

      • In camera stabilization works with any lens, including older Minolta glass and third party lenses. Saves the need to spend top dollar for the much more expensive stabilized lenses.

      • Focus peaking and zoom, allows use of manual lenses and allows fast accurate focusing. Recently purchased a Vivitar 85mm 1.4 lens for $250 which is optically comparable to Nikon and Cannon lenses costing $1500 dollars. Also able to set focus limits near and far.

      • Auto ISO, this works great with the manual lens; I can set the F stop and shutter speed and the camera automatically adjusts the ISO.

      • Flash Sync 250 vs. 200

      • GPS included at no cost.

      • Stereo microphone vs. mono.

      • 1080P/60 vs. 1080P/30

      • Uncompressed video out via USB.

  6. I just read that there will not be an A77 or A99 successor camera at all. 🙁

Just wait till Andrea posts the news. Damn E-mount!

    1. The seller has to sell that low because his feedback is horrible. I wouldn’t buy anything from that seller at any price with that feedback.

  7. I fail to see how is this worth mentioning on this site. Why should we care that a shady ebay seller has a certain price for a Sony camera? Quotes from the seller’s feedback: “Was told have warranty card, but it is not. Seller never reply the message” – Canon 6D; “Seller has me waited for 2 wks then canceled the trans after I urged the deliver” – Canon 6D; “No US warranty as promised!” – Canon 6D.
And it keeps going… 299 negative feedback in the last 12 months.
So how about some rumors instead?

  8. Hard to justify the a99 at this point. D610 is same price, and has much better performance. High ISO is double. A99 was good when released. But at this point, it is an overpriced relic.

    1. The D610 still lacks many of the A99 features that Nikon owners are still dreaming about so which one is the relic? Try focusing a manual lens on the D610, let me know how you make out. It’s anyone’s guess if the oil problem is solved, I hope it is. However, if you like the D610 then go for it. I won’t come on your board and try to run it down because I’m very satisfied with my camera and intend on using it for many years.

      1. A7/A7r is better choice for manual focusing than A99 with better low-light performance and superior lens range. So, this is not the usecase you should buy A99 for. And with Nikon you have better system optics.
Frankly, I see no reason to buy A-mount camera now.

        1. My A99 is a year old, and has the same manual focusing options (minus zebra) as the A7/A7r. I don’t know if you have used the A99 for manual focus but it works excellent. The A7/A7r have advantages (better low light) and disadvantages (slower focusing) and if I were buying today it would be a difficult decision. Nikon has some great lenses as do Minolta, Zeiss, Canon and Sony. Every lens I desire is available for A-Mount, the Minolta glass is cheaper than most. The third party lenses are about the same. What you buy is your decision, not mine.

          1. My camera firmware is version 1.02, the latest listed on Sony’s website. Reviewing all the menu functions I cannot find Zebra, I know the A7/7r have the Zebra function. Perhaps a later firmware update will add that function on the A99 if the hardware is compatible.

  9. Admin, tell us the truth… You either got nothing about A-mount rumors or there will be no A-mount releases for the first-half of the year…

        1. Yes. It wont be much longer before we’re all saying “What was A-mount?” I wish it wasnt true, but we just cant hide it anymore.

  10. I’d buy A99 at this price when current “normal” price drop down to this ebay day deal. A99 is really overpriced for now, on launch it was ok reasonable. But now its not. And Even if compare A99 and 5d2, 6d, 610d, A99 has some features I like in NEX line without this I can not live in real world such as full time live view and tilt-shift screen…
