Part two: Find the Sony website errors!

Note: In an attempt to fix the many confusing errors present on Sony websites we plan to post them all on SAR. Let’s hope Sony will read us and fix them 🙂

Also Sony France shows a big typo on the site. Well, lucky French guys can get a lens faster than you get in the rest fo the world 🙂 You found the mistake?

Thanks Jean for sharing this!

  1. Was checking out Sony USA today. A bunch of crop A-Mount lenses are under Full Frame A-Mount section. First few that come to mind were SAL1650, SAL50F18, SAL35F18

  2. “Let’s hope Sony will read us and fix them “… Why not to notify Sony direclty if you so bothered by these errors? It seems a bit weird to poke fun on someone you post religiously rumors about… BTW your own site is full of (usability) errors. Do you want me to start listing them out?

    1. 1) Sony would not listen to one single person
      2) I make many errors because my native language isn’t english.
      3) Sony pays people to manage these websites. Why can they tolerate such errors?

      1. They do listen. I report the errors of the Belgian site to someone from Sony Belgium. I agree the errors shouldn’t be there in the first place.

      2. Well I for one appreciate the site and admin’s efforts. The site is perfectly understandable to me as a native english speaker.

      3. Admin
        Do the poll I suggested
Mayby Sony will listen to hundred or thousands of us
SHOULD SONY CHANGE THIER NAMING SYSEM TO MAKE THE NAMES LOGICAL.

        1. Learn some manners!! Ever heard the word “please”?
Moreover, your overuse of uppercase letters makes you look self-important and is also bad manners.

          1. I was under the impresion that the issues between you and I were over when you said you would not respond to me any more.
I hope that arrangemet has not changed.

          2. Well, we will see. Unfortunately your narcissistic behaviour appears to be getting worse and your posts in this thread are immensely rude, so I felt reason to comment.

        2. 1 – Sony is not going to change their product names because someone does not care for them.

2 – Canon & Nikon employ confusing naming systems as well (albeit slightly less so).

3 – If you cannot accept it, learn to live with it and move on. You are smart enough to not be confused by the product numbering and it will jot affect functionality.

          1. Christopher
By doing a poll sony will hear the opinions of many of us and be more likely to listen.
The fact that other manufacturers have confusing names does not improve Sonys situation..everyone is so confused that both dealers and thier own website consistently make errors.

          2. This post is about erroneous product information. The product naming scheme, while confusing, is intentional and not erroneous. The silly naming scheme does not affect us. We know do our research about the specs and features and purchase the appropriate model.

      4. A lot of the errors you make are typos, and a lot of them are talking about one product while linking a different product. Neither of those can be attributed to use of a language other than your native language.

The other day when you talked about three RX-1 deals and then listed two RX-1 deals and one RX-10 deal, that was just an error, not a language issue.

You might as well say Sony confused F1.8 and F2.8 when translating from Japanese. In both cases, they’re careless mistakes. You’re right that Sony is paying people to manage these sites, so they should be more carefully checked, but you should be able to listen to a single person more easily.

You still have the Rokinon 14mm F2.0 ad on the side of SAR as well. Not sure who is responsible for that, but they certainly don’t have a 14mm F2.0 lens.

        1. Well yes, did I ever deny I do errors? Nope. I do a lot of them. The RX1-10 error was a typo I corrected later when I cam home from work.
The Rokinon ad is delivered by Rokinon, not by me. Ask them why they put it there 🙂

    2. 1) Because they would not listen to a sinle person
      2) I don’t speak english ( I speak three other languages perfectly). So live with it 🙂
      3) Sony pays people to manage their site. They should fix this. Or don’t they want to sell cameras?

  3. But! if this SEL FE35F28Z is mounted to APS-C sensor it will work like F1.8, but then only 52 мм 🙂

        1. f2.8 x 1.5 = f4.2
          35mm x 1.5 = 52.5mm
          1.5 is the crop factor.
Therefore, it is basically a 52.5mm f/4 equivalent.

          1. Hence my use of the word “equivalent”. DOF is equivalent to f/4 on FF. You need to learn how crop factor affects DOF and light gathering.

  4. Since we’re mocking the very company that gives your website reason for existence. Does that mean we can finally mock you for all YOUR grammar problems?

      1. Clearly you haven’t been coming here for very long. The grammar problems are many confusing constitutions. Plus I’ve been contacting Sony since 2012 about errors and they will never fix them, especially coming from irrelevant people from an irrelevant rumor site.

        1. Clearly a comment of someone who doesn’t speak a second language.

English is NOT his first language. He is offering rumours on HIS website. Would you come to someones “party” and complain about the accent of the host?

Open up your own rumor site if the grammar does bother you so much.

          1. It doesn’t bother me at all, I just thought these posts about finding errors on Sony sites until they change them all sounds kind of hostile. Everybody big and small makes errors but the person running this site has some kind of vendetta about fixing the Sony website errors. So I thought about what errors are here and made a simple comment about it. In a way saying, “What if we pointed out every error YOU made and the community rubbed YOUR face in it”? – in this case grammar. Also yes, I would go to an art auction and complain about not understanding the thick confusing accent of the auctioneer.

          2. I don’t think you can compare a one-man show / website with a international business like Sony. They are selling products and their customers use their website to inform themselves. The information on the site should be correct and up to date.
I do not read anything hostile in it. It is more something to keep the crowd busy / make fun. No need to take it serious. If someone really starts to go through the Sony website after this post to search for mistakes… man… this life must really be so boring. 😉

          3. No you’re right, a one man show makes it ten times easier to get all the info right. After an engineer builds a lens, the details of the lens goes through 5 different layers of people before the lazy web designer gets the info online. It has seemed a little hostile that he’ll post errors until they fix ’em all! Like this little forum has the kind of power that could change a multi-billion dollar company’s website. That’s where the lack of seriousness is. They are so big that they don’t NEED to address every little detail that really only a very specific group of people need answers to.

  5. This is probably not even an error, but has anyone noticed that the A7(R) is no longer specified as dust and moisture resistant on the UK or US websites?

  6. The problem still remains..sony names are so confusing that niether consumers ok r deaers can possibly figure out what they mean with ok ut reffering to the sony website.
They are also so confusing that web developets cannot avoid making mutiple mistakes that appear where consumers and dealers go to clear up the confusion.

SONY WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU!! CHANGE YOUR NAMING SYSTEM TO MAKE IT LOGICAL!!!
NO ONE ANYWHERE APPROVES OF YOUR CURRENT NAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
