X30 coming on July 3rd? (via dpreview)

 photo disc_zps3d7370f3.jpg

silver X20 discontinued at BHphoto

X20 (save $50): AmazonUS / BHphoto / Adorama / Pictureline

Hi all!

There is a forum member over at dpr, who claims to have the following information:

The X30 will be annonced on July 3rd. It will have a 1″ X-Trans sensor. There will also be a “cheaper compact based on the X100.” (the X70 rumored by Fujirumos already months ago here).

The source of the rumor? Well, the author (“labe”) gives different sources for his information (at one point saying “XJR china” (xjrumo) and another point saying “PM from a friend”).

I have to agree with FR-reader John (who passed me the link, thanks): „I guess it might be slightly more reliable (but only slightly) if there’s some photography event that day.“

The X30 was rumored to come in February/March by digicame-info. A FR-source corrected it and said that it was to early, as it will come in “summer”.

  1. Breaking news : from some who know but I can’t tell you who or the Fuji marketing department boss will get mad at me. It’ll have sensor bigger than 1″. Around 1,01″.
    Take that Sony !

    1. Sensor bigger than 1 inch would be nice as long as they do not shorten the focal range and make the lens slower – 24-110 F2.-F2.8 would be nice –
Also an EVF – more art filters – On/Off button or lever – auto closing lens cap like on the Olympus Stylus 1 – Keep the style – better video options –
X-trans sensor and no AA filter –
Something to make it a bit better then the RX100m3 🙂 but of course the RX100/m2/m3 are nice as they are smaller so one needs both – I do have the RX100 and the X20 and pending on what the X30 will have I will see if I will upgrade both or just the other – The key is to keep the focal length with F2.0-F2.8 and a decent EVF – ND filter as well –
The X10/20 are great looking cameras and light and quite small although not as pocket able as the RX100/2/3 – So hopefully Fuji will deliver with lots of improvements – but if lens will be a F3.5-F5.8 it will not interest many

  2. An X30 with 1″ X-Trans sensor and a versatile zoom, say 24-100mm no slower than F4 would be a great companion to the X100s as it would cover ‘everything else’. If Fuji can keep the size more less the same as the X20 and put in the same battery as into the X100 I would definetely buy one! Especially if the AF speed is more like Nikon’s 1-series than Sony’s RX100 😛

  3. i’ve tried the x20 and i found the OVF quite a pain to use. the eyepiece is too small and the small covering is nothing to get excited about. maybe because i got used to dslr? i expect some improvements in this direction! the mechanical zoom for me is still a no brain decision, if i had to buy a new camera.
better IQ is always welcome, but it’s already ok 🙂 (could get better at high iso maybe)

  4. July 3 doesn’t sound like a great time to make a product announcement in the United States. Many people are on holiday. Fuji PR seems savvier than announcing something in a dead zone like that, assuming that the U.S. market matters to them.

  5. Intrieging? Yes. A believe able rumor? Not at this time. Let’s see if the rumor unfolds. A 1 inch xTrans sounds great. I have an RX 100 II and some fuji lenses for my view camera The fuji would have to be size, function, and price in the range to compete. If it is released Fuji will have to provide faster auto focus and excellent video.

  6. i was just contacted by a local camera company saying that they are not able to get an x20 because they are unavailable from fuji, and fuji told the camera store they will be introducing an x30. But that is all the info they gave to the local camera company.
