For unkown reasons Amazon France (Click here) sells the A7 for 230 Euro less(!) than other EU prices. I don’t know if non-french residents can order it.

Seems to have been corrected: http://www.amazon.fr/Sony-ILC-E7B-CE-Appareil-processeur-R%C3%A9solution/dp/B00FWUDE9W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385275949&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+a7
Mind you, for that money it still includes free delivery!
For french resident, you can get the A7 + 28-70 for only 1.379€ at Darty.com.
The offer valid until 24/11.
Are you sure, Juan ? I see it at 1529€, at Darty.com.
But it is at 1269€ at boulanger.fr, since somme days. I guess it might be why amazon lowered their price.
I had it preordered for 1424€, then I saw the lower price, cancelled my old order and made a new one and now I got it for the low price! 🙂
Note that amazon can cancel an order anytime until you got the email that your item is delivered.
That happend before with the low priced walimex/samyang lenses.
Note that amazon updates automatically the price of your preorder, and makes sure that you will pay the lowest price that was displayed during your preorder. So now even if the price go up, you’ll still pay 1269. You didn’t have to create a new preoder to get this price.
They did *not* for my preorder when the price dropped to 1269 euros. I had to contact them to make the price drop.
no they didn’t, that’s why I canceled one pre order and did the other!
I guess I could have e-mailed them as well, but it was not automatic
in about ten years the ps cameras will all have aps c sensors, and all dslrs will be FF. m4 will be obsolete and Sony will have had around 15 types of cameras that never had traction and they will wonder why. sony will go back to making smlla gimmick cameras at a premium price until the roof caves in on them.
LOL!!! You sound like a guy in the 80ies claiming that in the future all computers will have 8″ floppy drives and all portable computers will come with color CRT screens. Technology does not work that way dude.
There will be no DSLRs in the future.
in 10 years there’s not going to be very many dslrs around
in ten years we’ll all have holographic cameras that will implanted into our eyeballls.
Cheaper still in Malaysia – https://store.sony.com.my/images/landing-hero-a7r.jpg
Prefer to buy in Australia then and get an adaptor for free!
And cheaper still if you avoid buying in Sony Stores all together!
a7 for 8000RMB on taobao.
Oh how it’s good to be in China.
That’s over 20% better than the best eBay prices currently (HK) – you should consider this a business opportunity.
the ebay HK price is normally 10% higher than HK street price as it is. china’s lower price is probably due to exchange rate. good deal nonethenless! 😀
that grip isnt big enough to hold well. Either makea proper grip or dont make one at all. Enough of these half assed grips that go halfway, feels like crap cause it isnt enough makes you wonder why they even made it to begin with. they are not satisfying all markets by making half assed grips. those grips are made for a hobbits hand, not human beings.
I think the grip size is fine, it is the technical design which baffles me.
The a99 had a grip which allowed you to keep one battery in the camera and 2 in the grip. That’s three batteries at the same time! Why couldn’t they do the same for the a7 grip?
Second: what is up with these stupid np-FW50 batteries? These are some of the cheapest, low capacity batteries made for sony cameras! At least put in an NP-FM500H! The difference between the two batteries is $10 (when purchased from sony directly) and almost the same price ($40) from Amazon. Size isn’t significantly different either: There is a difference of about 0.1705 cubic centimeters between the two batteries.
TL;DR:
The grip should allow for a third battery, and the batteries should have been NP-FM500H’s.
I think I can share some info for those of you who are planning to purchase something online based on my own experience.
If you buy stuff on Amazon from another country within the EU then Amazon will automatically change the VAT percentage after you click the purchase button!
The total price will therefore be more or less if the VAT for electronics in you country differs from the French VAT rate.
If the currency in your country is not Euros then that might change the total price too.
The VAT for each country can be found here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=502578
If you are placing your order from outside the EU then custom charges may also apply, and the shipping charge may be different.
You should also check the Sony warranty (If I remember it correctly the sony warranty is only valid for EU residents who made their purchase within the EU. But please feel free to correct me if I am wrong).
at digitec.ch in Switzerland the price is similar.
They have a great price for the RX10 too (currently 1082€):

Low prices like these are consistent with the likelehood that new texhnolgy sensors are just around the corner.
Sony is currently making camera body innovations but still putting soon tobe obsolete bayer sensors in thier cameras…thats why the prices are going down.
I am reluctant to buy a new camera until the new stacked sensors come out as I really do need the higher resolution. Only a very good camera at a very low price would tempt me but even then I would probably regret the purchase in 2015 when the sensor technology improves dramatically.
I really believe it is in my best interest to know more about the new sensor technolgy and when it will be available.
I also suspect that there are more current rumors availably but they are being witheld from us…possibly because knowledge of new technology around the corner would hirt sales of current new camera models..and probably all the 2014 models still to come with bayer sensors.
I do understand why it is in sonys best interest to keep knowledge of this new technology secret..however it is in my best interrest as a consumer thinking of buying another camera to know.
I also suspect sar is in the delicate position of possibly incurring the wrath of sony if they tell all.
Admin
What are you able to tell us about new sensors?
coming 2015.
Thanks..Id like to know more but will wait till you are ready to tell us.
Well, we still have room for native ISO 50 and 25, and an upgrade to organic sensors still doesn’t mean changing the pixel layout.
Of course it means changing the pixel layout!
Thats the entire purpose for every one of the new sensor patents.
Admin, does this mean that the new models to be announced late Jan. or early Feb. still use the old D800 sensor? Or worse?
It would seem logical to me that all new bayer array sensors will be minor improvements on existing sensots even they will probably be innacurrately advertised as all new.
It simply does not make financial sense to actually make a real NEW bayer sensor any more.
I want sensor shift for focussing on manual lenses:-)
To clear up some confusion.
Almost all mf focus lenses focus conventionally and would work fine with z shift focus.
Some newer lenses use internal focus and therefore focus differently than conventional focus lenses.
These lenses will STILL FOCUS WITH SENSOR SHIFT even though tje methods are differrent.
To make it clear…ALL LENSES CAN BE FOCUSED VIA SENSOR SHIFT.
…EVEN INTERNAL FOCUS LENSES.
I would like to see a macrp mode on z shift focus.
Focus would be auto with the lens until minimum distance is reached then swith to sensor shift for closer focusing.
I just chatted with Ashley S. from B&H and she said that the Sony A7’s “Unfortunately it likely will not be available then (December 1). I hope it arrives shortly for you though!”
Even adorama changed their dates to “Early December” just last week they had the estimated ship date as December 1.
The A7 is even cheaper in Japan :
http://www.yodobashi.com/%E3%82%BD%E3%83%8B%E3%83%BC-SONY-ILCE-7-%CE%B17%E3%83%9C%E3%83%87%E3%82%A3/pd/100000001001913248/
150000 yens, around 1100 euros.
Even cheaper: http://www.mapcamera.com/item/4905524958539
But SONY markets Japan only cameras with only Japanese a language option.
And the price of the A7 in China is around us$1300 and it has been around since last week!
