Sony A950 (old) fake image…correct specs?)

UPDATE: Some of our readers have seen that picture before and it is a known fake!

Take it easy guys. That is a fake. Our sources didn’t tell us anything about a possible Sony A950 🙁
Anyway we already know that the Sony A900 has been discontinued (read the news here). According to a user of the chinese forum DCCZBS.ZOL.com.cn (btw…crazy domain name) the Sony A950 will not come with the new ExmorHD sensor (no video recording!) The sensor will be the new Super HAD CCD II (the sensor really exists!). The A950 will have over 30MPX (34?).

  1. This looks like an integrated Nikon or Canon vertical grip, not a Sony one, where the shutter button is far deeper. So this adds to the chance that this is fake. Also the “950” looks obviously faked.

  2. “Anyway we already know that the Sony A900 has been discontinued ”

” We were told that the A900 is NOT discontinued and that it’s production line is still functional. Certain markets had taken a decision to run with the A850 only just like others had declined the A450. Whilst details are not available to those of us outside the Sony corporation we were told that Photokina will not disappoint and in fact we will probably get even more than we expect. One of the concerned pros was told to go ahead and invest in new top range glass “with confidence in the future”

  3. I say its fake. I like the option of having detachable vertical grips as well with Sony DSLRs as opposed to a few of Canikons models.

BTW how do you know the a9xx replacement won’t have video recording and that it would have the Super HAD CCD II as its sensor? Just wondering 🙂

  4. I think a A900 replacement could be fairly close. The price rose from 2030,- euro in March to about 2270 Euro in the meantime, here in Germany. The A850 stayed pretty much at the same level, over this time period, though I don’t suspect currency fluctuations to be behind this trend.
The cheap offers are usually gray imports, but it seems that those sources are about to dry out, which could mean that they are running low in stock. At this point I rather suspect them introducing a replacement, instead of making a new batch of the old one.

  5. Although this is a 100% fake image, it still brings about an important question: When will the A900 be replaced with a newer model? Also, when on earth is the Firmware update for the A850 and 900 going to be released? Sony, I love you and all but these days I hate being in the dark on certain issues.

  6. didn’t sony execs when interviews last week after the NEX launch hint at the dSLR cameras all getting an HD refresh before them releasing a NEX7 (which will probably happen in the fall/winter)? Perhaps the CCD is for some other product? Or maybe this is just something they are developing for licensing to another company and will not use it in a Sony branded product

  7. are u joking me???????? CCD in A950????? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Super Had CCD plus is in 5d mark…..
