Zeiss 85mm lens picture close but not the real final production image

I now had time to work with trusted sources on the leaked Zeiss 85mm f/1.8 image from Xitek. They said the final production lens has some differences. So this image isn’t the real final design. Whether this image is a pre production version of the lens or a rendered reproduction is unknown.  I repeat, it’s close but the final version will have some differences (for example filter size). Note: The one trusted source that 5 hours ago said the image was correct didn’t notice at first glance the differences. He now noticed them too.

Real pics of the upcoming NEX stuff will be posted soon on SAR (I will get via my own trusted sources). Stay tuned!

  1. F1.4 perhaps?? I’m fine with a 1.8 to have a smaller package but I remember at one point, an f1.4 was rumored instead. Otherwise, a smaller filter size and lens would be good news as well. In any case, I’m definitely interested and will probably get it as I’ve been so impressed with Sony’s first attempt at a Zeiss prime for e mount.

  2. so basically like the other sony zeiss then 😛 any word on if this is full frame or not? the canon ver seems similar in size so this is hopeful

      1. are you sure it wouldn’t cover FF? i mean the sony 85mm 2.8 does, just a consequence of the tele-focal length covering a bit more area.

        1. It’s simple enough. They AREN’T on the verge of announcing a FF NEX. No FF NEX is coming. Lens after lens is announced in E mount that doesn’t image a FF circle and people STILL believe a FF NEX is coming. I despair.

  3. I know Sony don’t want to tip off the competition, but surely they know that priming their customers on what’s to come can only build excitement and be good for business. It makes you wonder how many of these “sources” are really Sony plants, maybe controlling what’s leaked, in a manner that’s good for Sony.

    1. I had the same question sometimes. But I know from trusted people and from…let’s say…”personal experience” that Sony really doesn’t like me. I think they should not fear me but learn to deal with it. It’s not me the problem. it’s the nature of Internet communication that makes it difficult to hide information. The funny thing is that 90% of the image leaks I make are actually images found on other sites. Very often even from Sony sites 🙂

      1. If it wasn’t for this site and its rumors I would never have gone for a Sony camera. I love my nex5n. They should be happy someone is paying them attention on the net!

      2. I love your work admin. Im addicted to your site and admire Sony products.

But i think the nex7 price drop has something to do with the rumors of the nex7n.
Semi-professionals are aware of the future releases.

      3. I wonder who gets more traffic – the official Sony sites/sgnl or SAR?

I’d bet on SAR which makes the site a real asset for helping to spread awareness of SONY products.

The marketers are simply jealous that you won!!

  4. Yeah I doubt the filter size will be 72mm and hopefully we will see some samples from it before late September.

    1. Huh, what saturation? As far as primes go there’s the Sony 50mm and the Sigma 60mm. The Sony is short, while the Sigma is almost as short and not as fast.

  5. Either this is a FF lens or the filter size should be smaller.
The Samsung 85mm F1.4 has a filter size of 67mm.
    Canon 85mm F1.8 has 58mm.
My guess is that it is a 62mm filter thread.

  6. Of course it’s fake, why on earth would an 85mm f1.8 have a 72mm filter thread especially given that the system is supposed to be ‘small’?

  7. meh.. for F/1.8 that’s lens look to big, i think for 72mm filter that’s lens should have large aperture 1.4. but for nex i hope that lens would small size
