According to several sources (new and anonymous sources) Fuji will launch a new X-series camera with interchangeable lenses at the CES (January 2014). The camera will be positioned between the X-E line and the X-Pro line.
An anonymous source told me also that this camera will not feature the hybrid VF of the X-PRO1 / X100S.
I hope I’ll be able to post an update about this camera in near future… I have a week holidays from my day job, so I’ll concentrate on the rumors here on Fujirumors ;). But for now, take everything with a grain of salt.
stay tuned for more via google+, facebook and twitter.

I’d say 4 APS-C camera lines plus two other X Series are more than enough to cover the market.
Lenses is name of the game, Fuji!
+1, I would like to see a high quality XF 55-135/4 OIS (i.e. shorter length and brighter on the long end than the current XF 55-200/3,5-4,8 OIS).
Amen. This is getting a little ridiculous. The previous rumors suggest that no long lens are coming any time soon. AFAIC, I will not buy another Fuji body, nor any new lenses until they convince me that this will be a complete system. I’m happy with what I have, but cameras for me are a long term investment predicated on lens availability. I’ve lived on trust for over a year now, but these introductions are getting very old. We’ve got plenty of zooms, lets get some lenses with length, bellows, all the other stuff we need to make the X truly a system and not just a succession of mildly tweek body variants.
I agree about bellows, or at least macro rings. Having a dedicated macro lens without image stabilization might be ok… But lack of extension tubes and bellows renders that macro lens a moot one.
Oh, and it also sucks as a portrait lens. Give us that 56/1.2 already!
Great….just when I was about to pull the trigger.
Maybe an X-Pro sized camera with the X-E2 performance increase/functional improvements and X-E2 sensor, and with a larger EVF than the X-E2 (as large as the EVF in A7/E-M1)? If it gets built in flash as well, I might actually prefer it over the X-E2. A large EVF would be nice.
another one??? man that will be confusing as hell 🙂 any info on X200 (have a buyer for my X100). I went through photos from my X100 yesterday and there was really really something special in the rendering I don’t see in the X100S pics, not sure if it was down to non X-Trans CFA but could be.
I’m working on the X200 rumor as well. I think I’ll be able to post an update in the next couple of days… at least I hope so.
thank you very much, appreciate your hard work 😉
I am a little confused here – but maybe I simply don’t understand the Fuji camera body strategy.
Is something in-between not too close to both the X-Pro and X-E series? Or what would differentiate it enough? Or maybe they’re letting the X-Pro1 go slowly in order to replace it with something more pro-focused? (whatever “more” pro means).
I have NO idea about this so I’d love for all you knowledgable people out there to enlighten me a bit with your thought.
IMHO, something between X-E and X-Pro lines would be something similar to the current X-Pro but without the OVF – bigger than the X-E, weather sealed, hopefully with a in-built flash etc. The X-Pro would then get an even slightly bigger body, a proper grip that would allow the use of two batteries, dual card slots and all the video features of a ‘pro’ camera.
So, may be X-Pro will go full-frame…
I guess it will be weather sealed. I hope it will also have tilt screen.
Too many cameras in a line-up can be confusing to potential customers not to mention a nightmare for distributors and stockists.
Ageed this is getting a bit crazy… 5 Cameras is a bit much given Fuji’s market.
A weather-sealed body is rather pointless without weather-sealed lenses.
But the rumors are already talking about weather sealed lenses and it would be more like why weather sealed lenses without a weather sealed body?
Not sure I see the point in yet another X mount body, just update the X-Pro line already!
Please! Give us an updated and weather sealed X Pro 2 instead! A FF sensor would also be nice :).
I hope Fuji won’t go Sony route – making 1001 bodies and not enough great optics… =/
That’s why I’ve made a switch from NEX to X-E1 some time ago.
Although info about new camera is intriguing – maybe I’ll cancel X-E2 pre-order and will wait for this one (if it would be weather sealed with tilting LCD).
Please, stop this…
Fuji X will be 2 years old by January, almost 2 years less than Sony NEX and just look at the lens line up – plus the roadmap to come – and you think that Fuji might go the same route as Sony? And none of this lenses are low quality optics, not even the cheaper XC lenses.
Anyone complaining about lenses or having more bodies than lenses are just spoiled, there is no other reason or simply dislike the fact that Fuji now has a entry-level line up and it’s not purist exclusive anymore.
Except for the X-E2 there is no other camera that is in its second generation, so there are 5 bodies until now.
14/18/23/27/35/56/60 for primes
10-24/16-50/18-55/50-230/55-200/ for zooms
How can someone complain as for lenses for the first 2 years of a new system?
10-24mm and 56mm are still on the roadmap, nobody ever touched them…
Why I’m comparing Fuji to Sony – look at the NEX 5 line (5N-5R-5T), only minor improvements, and sometimes worse specs (from capacitive to resistive LCD in 5R).
I don’t want zillion of bodies, and what could be between X-E and X-Pro – the only difference between them is OVF\EVF… adding wether sealing and tilting LCD? Better EVF? Why not to do it in X-E already, and making another XF-mount body?
Yes, lens lineup is pretty good for such young system, and all of them are from good to great, but I prefer to see quality over quantity approach in making XF-mount bodies.
If true, I think Fuji is starting to take all 26 letters of the alphabet too seriously. My decision WAS whether to get the X-Pro1 (at the current discounted price) or the X-E2 now – or wait for the X-Pro2, hoping that its release is soon….
well, now you have a third option. isn’t that wonderful?
No David, it’s not wonderful. Good product marketing is about helping customers make informed decisions, minimizing remorse after purchase…. and often deciding what’s best for them. Choice is a good thing – too much choice isn’t.
Fuji appears to be stuffing its products into so many tiers and sub-tiers it’s hard to figure of what’s best for a given person’s need. You may think consumers are lazy, and should do all their homework and comparisons, but smart product marketing says otherwise.
Okay…I’m really confused, now.
Well since the rumour is that Fuji will produce a full frame X200 and then most likely a full frame interchangeable lens camera, then I think we can assume the X-Pro2 will be full frame.
This I suppose leaves room for an uprated X-E2 to sit at the top of the APS-C pile for all those nice (APS-C) lenses that have been slowly dripping through.
Maybe I wouldn’t have invested that heavily in my X-Pro and lenses had I known it would be superseded by full frame.
Pure speculation of course 🙂
No. Any FF system would require FF lenses. They’re not interchangeable. That’s clear from Fuji’s published literature on the X system.
It would make no sense at all to make the X-Pro2 a FF camera at all. No company will confuse its customers with changes in sensor size within one specific model of cameras. That would be stupid.
Ever heard of the Nikon professional line (D1 D2 D3 D4). They did exactly this and they did well.
If its true (and i don’t believe in that) they are not serious.
The real difference between the X-E line and the X-Pro line is the hybrid VF, if this camera “between the lines” has no one, why not put the features in the Xe-2?
And a weather-sealed Xe-2 with new name….? No, Fuji, no.
Maybe tilting LCD and articulate EVF like Panasonic GX7? Please, Fuji!
again…why didn’t they put this features in Xe-2?
God only knows what’s happening in the brains of Fuji engineering and marketing departments… I love Fuji colors, IQ, ergonomics, handling, but for “features” Fuji seriously lags behind competitors like Olympus/Panasonic, and even Sony.
There can be other differences between cameras than the tech.
Compare GX7 to E-M1, they are basically same in tech but totally different cameras. The GX7 is an equvalent to the Fuji X-E1/2 but there is no weather sealed camera with a larger grip and different design (such as it kind of looks like a small DSLR). Some value the rangefinder look, some the other. I fell that both can be very usable. Also, I feel that if these rumors are true, Fuji is trying to differentiate the hybrid VF from just being an added feature to the “Pro” camera. I rarely use my OVF on the X-Pro1 and the X-E1 sold way better (dependant on price and features, only difference being VF-tech). I could use the X-E2 when i want a smaller camera and a camera with larger grip and lrger EVF when I need that. That is the reason to have a system, to be able to use the camera you need for the right job. The hybrid finder I use on the X100s because there it is optimized for the lens and is very inconspicous…
Good job fuji, i hope this rumour is wrong cause fuji ‘s running out of feet to shoot itself in. All anyone wants is a new xpro!
Even if this is a genuine leak it doesn’t necessarily preclude the possibility that X-Pro2 will be announced in a similar time frame.
X-E2 with articulating LCD would be relatively simple for Fuji to implement and something that (some) users clearly want. Weather sealing seems like a good bet for the other major feature upgrade, perhaps a new sensor also. None of these things seem like a serious distraction from X-Pro2 development.
The possible negative I can see is that a new camera above X-E2 might suggest X-Pro2 is going to be pushed up to a higher price point than the X-Pro1.
What fuji planinng to do just holding me back from buying their existing cameras.
I’ll wait until xpro2…
I’m 50/50 about cancelling pre-order for X-E2…with all that mess about new Fuji camera every day, I might skip for X-Pro2
These are RUMORs. It is not Fuji doing something so far. Wait for Fuji to announce something before jumping to conclusions.
X100s with EVF only. Pretty sure !
If Fuji decides to jump into the full frame (FF) market, their best drive off the green will be a FF version of something akin to the X100/X100s, but with the necessary larger diameter 23mm fixed lens. The glass may already be available from manufacturing the XF 23mm f1.4. At a price point of approx. $1,500, the camera would aggressively compete with Sony’s DSC-RX1R at $2,800.
If they release something with 35mm f/2 lens, 24mp I’d be keen to pay £1500 – £1800 for it, providing it’s at least as good as RX1 (don’t forget, most of the hight price on RX1 is thanks to Zeiss badge on the lens). Also, don’t burn me for this, but maybe drop X-Trans.
Well, I think this rumor lowered the consideration for fuji brand in almost all of us. Fuji advantage over other brands is that X-trans is a technology, a system (camera + high quality lenses), a consistent roadmap.
We all hope this is just a rumor: it does not make sense apart form encouraging migration to Sony.
While I agree, it is confusing, as many of us are waiting for an X-Pro 2, if they do it right, and this camera turns out to be excellent, people will be happy.
If they are putting off the X-Pro line once again, this will have to be something special, not an X-E2 with weather-sealing and tilt screen. It will have to have a higher mp count, faster AF, a brighter EVF, etc. Perhaps it will come without a X-Trans sensor, as many people have requested them to use a bayer sensor and many miss the rendering of the X100.
Who knows, but it better be worth the confusion. Lets hope they have a winner with this one…
It should be kept in mind that the majority of digital photographers NEVER display their images at a large print size (e.g. 30″x40″), thus FF is overkill and remains overweight when compared to Fuji’s X system. “More sensor pixels doesn’t mean better images.” When you stand five feet away to view the picture on a wall, the human eye can’t resolve the pixel difference from that distance. Fuji’s research is likely focused on making the X-Trans better yet…rumored “organic”?
Right, almost nobody needs 24 or 36 mp.
When I sold my Sony a700 (12 MP) in favour buying into the X-System, I set up a special page: http://www.ukfotography.de/?portfolio=sony_a700.
The three pictures of the house boat in front of the tower bridge (about in the middle) “proove” that 12 MP is enough, since that picture is 1 m + 1,5 m …. and a little bit cropped, too, so it’s actually less than 12 MP …..
FF doesn’t have much to do with print size, resolution yes 😉
I agree nobody needs more pixels, but I don’t think it’s just about the number of pixels but the whole look changes. Like the look of full frame and medium format is different, even at small resolution.
Anyway, Fuji, this is getting too confusing = annoying. I just want the X-Pro2, as well. Less is more.
Yes, I just want an X-Pro 2 as well. This is getting confusing and and annoying, but I am hopeful that they will bring something interesting. Otherwise, postponing or dropping the X-Pro line will be a big mistake…
I am 20 years with Nikon. Νow I bought the XE 1 and 3 LENSES
14mm f2.8 ,18-55mm , 35mmf1.4 pre order the 23MM f1.4 and i plan for the 56mm f1.2. Because i trust fuji ( remember the S2,S3,S5 and stop ,so i went with Nikon ) the sensor quality , the small size and because so far fuji can hear professionals .If follow Nikon and Canon believe is a big mistake. If fuji plans to make ff cameras is ok no problem but fuji have to thing and support the professorial.
I am waiting for 10-24mm for a long time, but there is still no furthur information since September. I have already tired to know the information about the new bodies.
Totally agree. We want lenses!
Would not be surprised if the delay if because a last minute change of heart to make it WS and to go with this new body. Released in jan 2014…
Sounds like a rumour a Fuji competitor would put out to keep people from buying the X-E2 and in a state of confusion. There is no gap between the X-E and X-Pro line other than the missing X-Pro 2.
Where are the rumours about the expected X-30?
Agree.
How about an xe-2 with a flippy screen… that would seal the deal for this cowboy
I hope your sources can clear this up a little, Patrick. This latest rumor is really confusing, to say the least.
maybe a body with a bigger grip would make sense, like X-s1 (DSLR) style. If they gonna release more tele-primes or zooms that would make sense, + why not going the non rangefinder-style way, too in order to make the system attractive to even more people.
Yeah Peter, that was also my thought. People are way too hysterical here. This rumored camera will be an replacement for the X-S1. But this time not with a fixed lens but with an X-Mount and an APS-C size X-Trans-Sensor to use all the XF-Lenses.
What people are complaining about, that there is no room for a camera between the E2 and Pro2 without an OVF… yeah they are right. And Fuji knows that too, because they already covered with the A1, M1, E2 and Pro1 the rangefinderstyle market. What they didn’t cover yet is the DSLR-style market. So it is pretty obvious that they will expand their system in that direction.
Anyone up for a bet?
This camera will have:
– same sensor as E2
– same processor
– same EVF
– same Screen but tiltable
– same AF
– a dedicated movie button
– weathersealed
– a nice big grip
– the kitlens will be a weather sealed zoom 18-105mm f2.8-4 (or similar)
I bet, the X Pro2 will be the first camera which will top the specs of the E2 and X100s (24 Mpx, weathersealed, bigger EVF/OVF, dedicated Card-Slot) – and no it won’t be a FF yet, they are not suicidal.
This direction is also pretty clear, if you look at their main competitor: Olympus.
A1 = former Pen E-PM1
M1 = Pen E-PL5
E1 = Pen E-P5
rumored S1(2) = E-M1
Fuji will just copy this strategy to enter the DSLR-Style Market from the retro-rangefinder corner. Because at the end their will be always a DSLR-Style shooting, for Sport, Action and so on, which you can’t cover with rangefinderstyle cameras. So if you want to sell in this corner as well you need an answer to the Olympus E-M1. And this answer can’t be an weather sealed X-Pro2, cause its simply a rangefinderstyle camera and not a DSLR-like camera.
So everybody who is into outdoor, action, sportsfotografie can be happy now, then the roumor basically says, there will be an action dslr-like camera….
and the retro remains retro 😉
a reply to my own replay… thats funny 😉
just to answer some questions in advance…
My comparison of the Olympus and Fuji body lineup seems unequal. But thats how Fuji is positioning themselves in the market. For every single model in the MFT market they have their own model, but claim at the same time that this model is even better (and more expensive) than the competing model, in terms of image quality or sensor size. So thats why the Olympus Pen E-P5 is actually the competitor to the Fuji X-E2, even though it lacks a viewfinder and the sensor size. The same belongs to all the other models, I mentioned.
If I am right and the roumor is about the replacement of the X-S1, this will be a bestseller in the market. As it will be the first mirrorless dslr-like camera with an APS-C sensor. Ofcourse the OM-Ds are pretty strong competitors, but Fuji can always claim to have the bigger and better sensor – and thats how Fuji works!
I think you are right too. However, the Sony (NEX) a3000 ILCE exists, so does Samsung NX10 and NX20, all are DLSR-shaped, however, they do not use the XF-mount…
Now this does make sense to me..since Fuji have no dslr shaped camera bodies in their range it makes sense to release one with a decent spec to entice people into the x system who prefer that style of camera. I personally prefer the x pro type styling but Fuji could just be covering a wider market…and this whole sony full frame release has just come with unfortunate timing and has now put some doubt into their minds. Spending and investing as much money as Fuji has into the current x system means theyre not going to just discard it overnight. No business would do that.
I haven’t bought into this system, yet, because it lacks some lenses I need. They’re on the roadmap, so I still wait. But this focus on pumping out a new body every week is not helping.
first I thought you are talking about sony. people always complain. no other company has come up with so many lenses in such a short time after the start of a system
Hope it is a X-E2 with tilt LCD 🙂
I think Fuji are preparing us for a
Split in product. The new camera will be the top of the range APS C range. The X Pro range will be full frame with new lenses and a new price tag. It will be on par with the A7R recently announced by Sony and will use the same sensor. Reluctantly I will not be buying anymore lenses as I will go full frame with Fuji. I think the FF X200 will match the FF X Pro whatever it is called akin to the A7R and RX1r. Just my thoughts.
Maybe Fuji is trying to cover the entire price spectrum with a camera every $200 (kind of like Panasonic). Otherwise this sounds like slicing the pie too thinly.
As to all the 36x24mm dreams (I refuse to call it “full frame” because it isn’t any “fuller” than any other size): Fuji, unlike Sony, doesn’t have any existing lenses that would cover this size, even with an adapter. And how likely is it that they could introduce a line of new ones, given how long it is taking to fill out the lens road map they already have?
I’m not saying it’s impossible they’d bring out some kind of 36×24 camera to take advantage of all the silly-but-rich people who think there’s something magical about these dimensions, but I do say it would be a really bad idea…
I was seriously considering a Fuji X system, in fact I almost bought two x-pro 1 bodies and 4 lenses during the recent lens sale at B&H. But for some reason I couldn’t quite pull the trigger, and now all of this talk of full-frame (Which would render the lenses outdated, or at least somewhat less desirable) and rumors of them going the Sony route with a million different bodies has scared me off. I think I’ll stick with Nikon. They have problems for sure, but I’m pretty sure the F mount is a stable, long-term platform. Who knows about the X mount?
I agree that the lineup is getting confusing and too crowded but choice is normally a good thing right?
It would seem to me that the fact that fuji have stated they believe in the quality of pixels and not the number of them that matters and the fact that the current X-Mount can’t house a FF sensor suggests that we’re a little way off a FF X-Camera. That being said, the Canon 5D MK1 was 12MP and FF so it’s possible with a lower count or with the 16 of the current APSC.
I also think that there are a number of pros (like me) and serious enthusiasts who have really invested in the X-line (XP1, 35mm, 14mm, 18-55mm, X110s and WCL) and an introduction of a new FF range would be irritating to say the least. That is some series cash for what would be a very short life span of the x-PRO, if the updated PRO body needs new FF lenses.
I am no hardware geek but would it be possible for Fuji to make an adaptor (like a speed booster) to make the current ones fit a FF?
That is why I think the FF XP2 is unlikely but an X200 would certainly be interesting…
I would like on the XP2:
Weather-sealing
Dual card slots
Slightly bigger (heavier) body. (The X100s just feels better built)
Improved focus speed
colour selectable focus peaking
Fingers crossed…
…you’re killing me, Fuji.
The entire internet is complaining that there’s not enough room between the X-A and X-E to justify the X-M and you’re doing it AGAIN? Put that development money into being the first mirrorless system with a real telephoto (kit zooms don’t count, m4/3’s 150mm equiv (75mm) ain’t gettin’ it).
Maybe X-B1, with 24M Bayer pattern sensor.
But, for what? Pixel peeping?!
If it is the (updated) sensor of the Nex-7, it could be worth it: Better colour than the 16MP sensor, better DR, in it’s older version too much noise however, but that one is more than 2 years old, so if Sony can deliver a better version, I’m in! And no, I don’t mind good resolution….
Is it assumed, that the current Fuji lenses doesn’t fit to a FF cam?
Why?
There are 26 letters in the English alphabet, no? I guess Fuji’s strategy is to have an “X” camera for every letter… from X-A1 to X-Z1.
That should cover every segment of the photography market.
Doesn’t sound credible to me. Simply doesn’t make sense. The gap between X-E1 and Pro 1 is already small, nothing serious except the hybrid VF. What should that camera add? WiFI? Android OS with apps?
I’d say this is fake.
Yep
I think Dave is probably right. I think FF is inevitable at some point and that will mean a new line entirely by the looks of it.
What exactly is wrong with Fuji having a broad APSC line with a Pro body heading it up and a FF line – presumably with less, more pro focus?
Do we all automatically need FF if it’s available? Doesn’t APSC have distinct advantages and benefits that are important to lots of people? If you want FF can’t you go and get it already?
X series will still be relevant in presence of a FF Fuji – it will lose some users and some will be irritated. But if they get the launch right (lenses!) and continue to support APSC (lenses!) then that’s a good thing as far as I can see.
Rupert, choice is a good thing except when it dilutes a brand/system and when it causes uncertainty. I’m a full time professional photographer, I actually shoot film for most of my personal projects (which are fortunately my main activity). I’ve always been a Nikon guy and I bought a D800E recently, but then I realized that since I only shoot digital for editorial jobs and stock, I really don’t need 36MP, nor do I need any lenses other than 28mm, 35mm and 50mm and maybe an 85mm once in a while.
The fuji system sounds perfect. It offers great image quality and also the gear is small, it can fit in my large-format case and I wouldn’t even notice it’s there. I picked up an X100S the other day and it’s pretty nice. I was thinking of selling the Nikon gear and switching to X-pro-1 bodies and a few lenses. But because of all these rumors floating around I don’t know if it’s a good investment. As we all know, digital bodies come and go so the lenses are (or should be) your long-term equipment. And if fuji either fails to update the x-pro-1 with a flagship camera (with OVF), or if they move to full-frame, that lens investment is wasted.
I’d love to see a long-term roadmap so we know what the deal is. And if you’re listening, fuji, I’d love an X-Pro-2 with the same size body but a little more solid. Dual card slots would be nice, as would weather sealing. (But again, am I going to have to buy new weather-sealed lenses?) Please don’t give it a built-in flash or tilting screen, that stuff just adds complexity and more things to break. Keep it simple. Faster AF like the Xe2 and other incremental changes would be fine.
Ok, if you are listening fuji, don’t waste your time with full-frame 35mm. Everyone else is doing it and competition is fierce. APSC is a great compromise between image quality and the size of the camera and lenses. From there, the logical step is to do something really different and unexpected. Make an X-pro-1 type body (with a hybrid finder) with a medium-format 645-size sensor and sharp, compact lenses with moderate apertures. Lots of folks out there want a digital version of the Mamiya 7…you could sell these like crazy if you can bring a camera and one lens under $10 or $12k. You’d take over the landscape photography market as well as editorial and fine-art shooters who currently shoot medium and large-format film but who can’t quite justify the cost of a hassy or phase system.
Ok, end of fantasy…
It seems to me that this rumored camera will be an replacement for the X-S1.
What they didn’t cover yet is the DSLR-style market. we really do not need yet another Fuji X camera! We have enough choices with the X-Pro 1, X-E2 and the X100s on the higher end side. So why adding yet another camera to this list? I would rather prefer a short list of high quality X-Mount cameras. Maybe an X-Pro 1, an X-E2, a X100s and maybe one lower end model.
But that’s just my opinion and I know that Fuji wants to sell as many cameras as possible. I don’t know if that’s a good thing…
Best regards
Michel
My bet? Weather sealed X-E2!
Which also should mean, better build quality.
Doesn’t make any marketing sense, unless it’s a dedicated video body with an XF mount. The gap to fill is way to narrow.
*too narrow. Sorry, a typo.
I’m guessing the sensor would be an APSC 20 mp X-Trans.
Just sold all mw canon gear to buy xe2 now i will wait longer to check out this product..
I hope its better than xe2 or my waiting will be useless and similar pricing if possible
This is terrible, Fuji should be like Apple and launch 1 product a year. If they launch more than 1 product, they are diluting their effort in R&D. Also the Iphone is the best phone in the world because it is perfect for everyone in the world. Just like Apple, they know what consumers want the most so Fuji only 1 camera a year!
Fuji X-pro2 should change to Full Frame with Bayer sensor and anti-aliasing filter and add a 51 cross-type world class AF module like D800e to replace my Nikon.
Sorry, but I think they can launch more than one product per year. And, even if they go to a bayer sensor, which would be interesting, they should not add an AA filter, as it is unnecessary, especially if they use a 24mp or higher sensor. I definitely do not want to go back to the unnecessary blurring of images with an AA filter.
That said, this rumour, if true, is a little confusing. If they don’t release an X-Pro 2, which many people, including myself, want, they may lose customers. This camera would have to be a significant improvement over the X-E2 to not upset those waiting for an X-Pro 2, or it would have to be a 24mp X-E2-like camera with a bayer sensor, like some people have requested. Who knows…
Why so many are afraid of FF? If you like your APS-C (like myself), enjoy it. I hope Fuji will continue to refine it as it did in the past.
If there is a FF model with new lens mount come out, many will prefer it over the APS-C. I personally won’t go that far, because if I really need a FF, I still have my Nikon D700 and full set of lenses.
Fuji is a business. They need to considering market and competitions. Fuji is also a very large company, and capable to produce a lot of things. Sony just shows a FF camera can be make small. And FF does have advantage over APS-C. You can argue how big advantage it is, or do you need it, however, IQ will be better, just like Fuji X is better then 4/3.
In fact, I prefer to see Fuji jump back in to the Medium Format with a wonderful digital GX680. Get the demanding pros bigger than FF, and give the travel mind users like me a wonderful small APS-C. If the lens is good, I will be happy to continue APS-C. The quality of the 10-24 will be the key factor.
MonoZkuri at it’s best,
Build lots of bodies, release them
Don’t bother about getting the software right
Release a new improved version with better hardware (rather than fix the software)
Japanese manufacturers have really lost the plot, just waiting for Samsung to step up and revolutionize cameras.
My guess is the the “in-between” product is actually technically a replacement for the X-PRO 1, but without OVF, strictly EVF. That way Fuji can retain the “PRO” lineup for a future model that may or may not keep the OVF or maybe it will be relegated for future FF only models. Regardless, whatever comes next is the PRO 1 replacement in spirit.
PLEASE!!! An S7 Pro with x-trans cmos II like x-e2 and hybrid PDAF CDAF and of course F mount
HA HA HA .Will be nice Good old days S5 I ll by one now
Actually I would like to see X-E2 internals in slightly bigger body with tiltable screen and bigger handgrip (like X-E with it’s own hangrib used to contain bigger battery) (difference like between oly E-M5 and E-M1) and maybe with 1/8000 shutter and that’s it. (Ofcourse improved evf and weather sealing could be nice too… ) But what is the price, let see.
But there it is, joe just figured it out abowe 😉
I will wait for the model that they will squeeze between the X-Pro1 and the model mentioned above ….
This is getting so dam confusing so many versions of camera i didn’t know there were so many variations of photographers out there?
Like an earlier writer said all the pro’s want is a corrected camera (x pro 2) without having buckets full of firmware to put it right shall wait for the Exhib., in Jan and see, if nothing comes up then goodbye Fuji and hello Nikon like the look of the new Df takes me back to the 60’s Dam given my age away!!
I recently received the XA-1 in the mail, and I have officially joined the “Walmart” segment of the market 🙂 while I sell my XE-1 in anticipation of what my future XE-1 replacement will be in 2014. And rather than be disappointed, I’m delighted with the smoking fast AF. Have not had a chance to look at the RAW files yet on Aperture, but I’m in no hurry. Now is time to have some fun over the holidays.
