The first bunch of XF23mm lenses should be delivered as expected in the next days. FR-reader Roger just told me that “Amazon has just posted delivery date for the lens I ordered upon announcement. It is 2 day delivery so I assume they will ship on Monday. [UPDATE:] Looks like they actually have first shipment as status has now changed to PREPARING FOR SHIPMENT which indicates that it in packing. ”
BHphoto expects to have it available in 2 days, on October 28th!

Hope your right. Can’t wait to try it. I’ve had mine on order at Amazon since the first date. I’m hoping this lens will be so good I won’t want to move on to the Sony A7 and I’ll be happy to stay with the X system.
Roger also sent me the screenshot of his expected delivery notification, so I’m pretty sure that the lenses will come, as said by Fuji, in a couple of days.
Good news. Now let’s hope Fuji got the projected production numbers accurate.
I had one on pre-order since September 5, and I was trying to get Amazon to give me a straight answer for a week after the supposed release date on October 16. They never did. And I couldn’t wait anymore because I want to bring it on an upcoming trip, so I got it off eBay for about 930 USD incl. shipping and delivered from Hong Kong to Greenland in 4 days. Why on earth I waited so long to do that beats me… 🙂
Come on Mads, you can not have this lens in your possession and not tell us what you think about it. Some comments, PLEASE!!
Hahaha, Dean, fair enough. The issue here is that my wife is away on business so I have both kids at home, and they’re more than full time employment, so I haven’t had a moment to really shoot with lens since I picked it up Thursday.
However, I did test it on the way home from the post office, on my way to pick up the kids, and it looks like this is my missing link in the X-series. I am already a big fan of the 35mm field of view (love the Sigma 35 1.4 for Canon FF), and from that one shot I took, I like what I see.
I decided to test how accurate the focus is wide open at a relatively large distance, because that’s where I see some of my Canon L lenses and other lenses fail way too often (I am just not impressed with the 85L II, the 135L and the Sigma 35 1.4 at 15+ meters, they’re way too often off, and no amount of AFMA has cured the illness yet).
I must say it looks really good in terms of sharpness, focus accuracy, and the quality of the OOF areas in the foreground.
(Don’t mind the photo itself which is just a test – also it is just 2000px so zooming in is not really much help – sorry, I have the kids hanging over me, so… anyway.)

Delicious, thank you!
I can’t wait to get mine. According to Amazon it will be shipping soon.
Lenses have been inside cargo containers bound for US ports, then trucked to Amazon’s “fulfillment centers”. No small undertaking.

So please explain…if I put my 1975 Canon FD lens on an adapter and onto the X-E1, is there a 1.6x factor for the ASPC sensor? (Does my Canon 50mm act like a 80mm?) Thanks.
Yes.
got mine in Japan while on holiday and been using it for a couple weeks now…this lens is the be all end all…excited for you all and cant wait to see all the work it’ll produce once everyone gets their hands on it!
I also ordered this lens via Amazon when it was announced (9/4) and they still don’t have a delivery estimate for me. 🙁
I’m doing my best to be patiently waiting.
Amazon USA has now shipped the lens I ordered on announcement day. Scheduled
for Tuesday delivery.
It’s in store in Stockholm, Sweden:
