  1. They’re still too expensive. The 12mm at $999 is an acceptable price, given that it’s similar in performance to the Fuji 14, but wider (though the Fuji 14 is still slightly better). But $720 for the 32/1.8 is still too high. It’s slower and no better than the Fuji that costs $599.

  2. Fujifilm’s problem was not willing to go for full frame early on. Now being caught on with a troubled new APS-C X mount. Buyers like me wondered if we should wait for the new full frame or invest into a nearly dead X mount. Sony A7 is calling everyone of us for full frame. It is a dream to have full frame in a small package. We have a boat load of Leica M lenses and contax RF lenses waiting to be used in the digital age.

    1. Please don’t speak for everyone! I have NO DESIRE to get a A7, and also do not want to see a FF version of the X-P come out—or if it did, I wouldn’t mind as long as Fuji continued developing the APS line. And if you look at the Fuji forums, you’ll note that an easy majority of posters also want Fuji to remain APS.

I think you should have waited, but at least the A7 is available for you now.

      1. +1 No point going small body with big FF lenses. For weight balance, a dedicated DSLR body is still more suitable for FF.

        1. “small body with big FF lenses” yup. The zeiss 35mm 2.8 is small but at 2.8 the fuji 24mm 1.4 achieves shallower depth of field. So I don’t see a point going a7. however I bet you Sony/Zeiss going to crank out some juicy Manual focus only, leicaisc f 1.4s That at a reasonable price will be very tempting. Might have to say good bye to x mount.

    2. You do realize that the vast majority of industry profits are in the APS-C sensor size? And Sony’s track record with changing mounts, lens availability, abandoning products isn’t a great place to be as a consumer.

      1. Profits were, and still are, in APS-C. But as Sony has shown its now possible to get a FF camera for LESS than the XPro1 cost 18 months ago AND in a smaller body size.

So the vast majority of future profits will come from full frame, imagine what another 18 months will bring. Sony was second, but they will not be the only ones, consumers will get plenty of choice soon enough.

        1. That doesn’t mean “consumers” are going to flock to FF cameras. Enthusiasts are a much much much much smaller population than many of you want to admit.

    3. Speak for yourself Rich. I still see my X-Pro 1 and the excellent Fuji glass as the best proven package for me. I’m not tempted again by the hype surrounding full-frame, especially when generated by those who probably never used it.
      I have.
Eventually getting rid of that gear was not about deciding if I should compromise my sensor size, but looking at the practical aspects and expense of my gear and how it fits in with my shooting style.
Some of us are not obsessed with having the latest (which may not even turn out to be the greatest), some of us just go out and embrace what we have and enjoy photography for what it should be.
Fuji may go full-frame, but should also continue the compact APS-C line up and manual controls that make these cameras almost unique and a ‘bonding’ pleasure to use.
Full frame you want? Be careful what you wish for…..

  3. “Sony A7 is calling everyone of us for full frame.” Ha! Sensor envy. The A7 is ugly styling. The pyramid-style viewfinder is HUGE.

Wonder who inside Zeiss was responsible for the Touit decision?

    1. It’s all yap yap. These guys hootin and hollerin about FF sony don’t even own FF ANYTHING, and won’t end up ditching their APSC for FF even when there is a supply of lenses available. It’s all talk for the sake of seeing their words in print.

      1. It’s basically them showing off their ability to do math. Sensor size + fast glass = good camera, therefore I predict this is the way the whole market will go.
