  1. I’m not very interested in the camera as such but I’m very interested in the performance of the new gen sensor.

    1. im waitng for it to be dxomarked, that new gen sensor in the (if possible) future a78, or even a better sensor for that date! 😀

Love that Sony is each time making new technology while canon has the same sensor on all the Rebels since 4 years ago x_x

  2. I’m not interested in the A58. However, I’m a week off to prague now and I hope there will be a NEX-7N rumor when I’m back. 😉

  3. At least SONY appears to be trying to
offer VALUE and a Competitive Value
in line with current industry leaders.

    How refreshing, especially after the
    A99 debacle over pricing

But with SONY alpha there is always a connector or
something missing for a Sony solution that is totally
hindering our abiltiy to use the Sony platoform for real work.

    oh yeah

F60 flash for TTL – Sony must think we can work in darkness

    1. If Sony put the HVL-F60 Flash in Column2 and flash adapters in Column 3 it might work.

Unfortunately, SONY has decided (not great) to
reduced the total number of HVL-60F Flashes made.

SONY own store lists these flashes as
MAY 20th shipping if ordered today
BH lists as “USUALLY SHIPPING” in 7 to 14 days
      How crazy is that?? and

HVL-60F TTL Sony Flash is the only TTL Flash used
on 60% of the current Sony models shipping.
      SONY A99, RX1, nex6, A58 and next months nex7

Sony refuses to cc-operate with third party flash makers
so we have NO other flash options for the new Sony bodies.

SONY also discontinued the 58 Flash – The most powerful Flash with the Old shoe
and is only providing cheap non locking flash adapters
(from old to new and new to old) that allow the
Supposed to be ON CAMERA FLASH HVL-60F TTL Sony Flash
to spend more time Falling Off the Camera or
ON THE GROUND than hanging on a Sony camera body.

SONY – Great Job for your users and supporters

This is worse than the A99 overpricing fiasco.

  4. Sony should have kept the flash mount for this one and it might have sold… Nobody wants to buy a $600.00 body AND a $600.00 flash…

  5. Nothing to see here I can’t see the A58 selling well at all I’m afraid. The lack of a more affordable mid range flash is also astonishing

  6. Come on A78, I will buy a new system when the replacements to the A77 is released. I am keeping my fingers crossed there will be one in the next 4 months.

  7. Now that Sony owns part of Olympus do you think they will start implementing something like the Olympus 5 axis image stabilization into their DSLRs? For videographers it is far more effective than the Super Steadyshot. I’d love to get that new Sigma f1.8 zoom and move over to Sony but I want effective stabilization for shooting video with it. I know the Steadyshot does a good job with stills, but it’s not nearly as impressive as the 5 axis when it comes to video.

  8. With the non replacement of the a77, perhaps Sony want their customers to think the SLT line could be discontinued

  9. It is worrying if the A58 is the only SLT camera out this year Sony’s sales will tank dudes.
I’ve been reading up on this model and the buffer is silly small around 6 shots raw (less than a third of the A57’s 20 shot buffer) and Sony also took the level gauge out which was a really handy thing to have on these cameras.
People want “more and better” (but not gimmicks) not less and cut down and frankly I’d not touch a plastic mount with a barge pole.

Big misfire from Sony all they had to do was an A57 with nothing cut out and soup it up a bit..wow they couldn’t even do that.

  10. Please don’t buy this camera…it’s a shame what they did with it,it is a much weeker camera than the a57,and this camera should be called an a38, i hope the a78 and (if they even make something like that) the a66 won’t be as disapointing as this.

  11. There is so little interest in this camera it only got 17 comments (And most of those said “Not interested in this camera) Sad…

  12. While most seem to be concerned that this camera isn’t a worthy upgrade to the A57 (or even much of an upgrade at all), I am considering it as an upgrade from my A33. Would this camera be a significant upgrade in that regard?
