Tonight the Japanese company Thanko (Click here) announced a new 25mm f/1.4 Toy lens with E-mount. With a Toy Lens you get a kind of blurry effects on your pictures. The lens price is 5,480 yen (45 Euro or $60).

As you might guess, this is C-Mount adapter with CCTV lens.
This is the 25mm f1.4 for C-mount, which works “well” on a m43 but on APS-C vignettes like crazy, like in the picture above, you have black parts in the frame.
And it “fisheyes” as crazy as well. But then again, the Google translated Thanko page says that with this lens: “shooting a taste funny can be taken!” So we cannot really blame them …
I consider the SLR Magic 35mm f/1.7 to be a toy lens as well.
What a load of crap, like the slr magic mentioned above. If you want junk like this go on fleebay and buy anyone from china for $20’s.

I have a 35 or 30mm lens like this and they are about 20.00 on ebay. It actually takes some pretty cool pictures of low quality but its a fun lens to mess around with. I would not pay 60.00 for it.

I do the same thing with my panel of TV lens (C-mount).
5€ for the lens (flea market) + 3€ for the adaptor (ebay).
12.5mm f1.3 / 25mm f1.4 /50mm f1.3
I think people miss the point of this lens. This is for the instagram generation. They love to apply filters to pictures and make them look like crap. It makes them feel artistic lol.
This lens is TRASH. You get it for $20 + $5 for adapter.
Sold as “money maker lens” ?
35mm/1.7 is okay, but nooooot 25mm/1.4 !
