An anonymous reader sent us this picture found on the chinese Xitek (P.S.: He forgot to send me the link…you may send it to me?). My sources told me that this is a 100% correct picture of the upcoming new Sony A99 Full Frame SLT camera. The camera will be announced next week on Wednesday September 12th. As I told you before Sony wanted to realize the best hybrid video and still Full Frame camera on market by beating the current Canon 5DmarkIII. What is coming along the A99 is not only a camera but also a whole system of innovative accessories around it. It also marks the possible end of the classic DSLR Full Frame line with optical viewfinders. The [shoplink 3028 ebay]A850 (Click here)[/shoplink] and the A900 (Click here) were the last two models with viewfinder.
Below you can find the full A99 specs and the info about all the rest of the Sony stuff that is going to be announced on the same say. I want to highlight once again that I can confirm that there is also a new unexpected professional NEX camera coming too! I am working on that rumor but it looks like only few people on the world have access to the info. It’s the best kept Sony secret ever. I have been told this is a “Game Changer camera”. I highly recommend you all to follow SonyAlphaRumors in these days. Sony may be the big star at Photokina if all those rumors are correct. And to not miss any single news be sure to follow the RSS feed and Twitter stream and join the Facebook fan page!

IT EXISTS! FINALLY!!
It didn’t exist before this image?
You know the saying … Pic or it did not happen 😉
I don’t see the built-in flash…
Came to post this.
hahahahaha its ok guys. All the pics on my website were shot without the pop up flash 😉
lol none of us really want to take pictures with the pop-up flash, but what we do want to do it use it for optically slaving other flashes to fire. 😉
Used it for a little fill in many times, put it at +2 and the range is increased enough to be useful. So the ” none of us” is should be: “most of us”. Anyway we are both happy if it is there.
A camera without pop-up flash to trigger other flashes is a pain in the arse. Something like the Metz 15 MS1 needs a flash for a trigger.
It’s there, I believe.
Admin, could you add “E-mount” or “A-mount” to the lenses?
Not all people know for what system these lenses are.
ok.
And for A-mount – which are full frame and which APS-C only.
Can we expect the same specs for the Pro Nex ?
Adapted to M-Mount lenses, especially wide angles ?
Well.. that sony logo area is really weired. Is it flat?
it sure looks flat, it’s a very bad render or a very weird design 😉
too bad about that built in flash tho…..i was looking forward to it….
Built-in flash with guide number of 12?!
take a scond look at the picture … don’t think so… looks like there is no built-in flash…
I removed it and checking the spec. Wait a few minutes. Will try to updated this soon.
UPDATE: Yes, there is a built in flash!
Does that mean that the picture is fake? 😀
if you look very closely, there is a small *gap for build in flash on the left side
Yeah I see no place for a built in flash that isn’t smaller then nex 7 flash
Hell yes! That made me very happy 🙂
There is a button of pop on flash at right side.
No surprises here. It’s a big, black Sony DSLR with a full frame sensor inside.
Is there really going to be a built in flash? I’ve doubted this all along and from the picture, I might just be right.
No built-in flash and kind of ugly, a bit of a disappointment this picture. :/
Lol. So you want it to be pretty like the Leica M9 Hermes edition?
Well actually yes, but not like Leica. 😀
Looks are a part of how I feel while using a camera, it’s completely subjective but come on, if looks can be maybe the most important part of your deciosion when buying a car, why wouldn’t they influence your camera choice just a little bit? 😉
And again, it’s completely subjective, for example I love how the A77 works, here just the upper part like on the K30 doesn’t work for me (altough I think K30 is pretty :D).
not sure about you but i am not buying a camera to show off. A car on the other hand………… 😉
od k-30 je ruzniji samo hasselblad….mislim da je ovaj a99 ružan k’o zadnji ker
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
As much as I love the angular workman design of the A900, and had hoped for a continuation of that theme, this A99 looks attractive in its own right.
It looks Canonesque.
SD Cards? Why not XQD? Big, BIG disappointment.
Brian, there are many very good reasons why Sony may not be using the XQD card in this camera, but the subject was discussed into the ground some time ago.
And every time tech illiterate people use same marketroid based arguments for defending SD.
right, insulting people gets you somewhere!
The main reason is not marketing, it is simple economics. At this time, it is too expensive to include an XQD slot in this modestly-priced camera. You may note that the D800 does not include an XQD slot, whereas the D4 does.
That will change with time. Clearly the XQD is superior tech, and will, in time supplant both SD and CF cards in Sony cameras.
I wasn’t really defending SD cards, btw, just defending Sony for not including XQD. Nevertheless, I expect that Sony, as a manufacturer of both XQD AND SD cards, knows considerably more about SD cards and what is on the horizon for them than either you or I, however “tech literate” you may be.
> I expect that Sony… knows considerably more about SD cards and what is on the horizon for them
Probably more backwards incompatible changes. That’s the history of MMC-SD with proprietary interface having needed many changes to overcome capacity and speed limits.
Cards using computer data buses as interface have lot less of those problems.
Change to modern differential signaling might well be in line after UHS-II because of problems single ended signalling has in increasing data rate. Even if that change means basically new card format I don’t think they want to give up so well selling PR name of SD.
Though regardless what changes they do to interface SD is limited by its flimsy size. There’s simply no space in it for lots of memory chips for internal RAID0 which is needed for those very fast speeds comparable to SSDs.
300-500MB/s actual transfer rates would make camera buffer size quite insignificant for continuous shooting and extra bandwidth could be used for other things.
Sensor read out speeds keep increasing so it might not be so far away when SLTs/mirrorless (SLRs limited by moving mirror) can take full resolution bursts at video frame rates.
Shouldn’t we be those enthusiasts who look forward to possibilities of future and leave clinging to old to Canon and Nikon?
The flash button exists but there’s no built-in flash in this photo. Besides the Sony logo looks flat and cheap. I don’t think this is real.
maybe it´s one of those test copies without an internal flash?… also admin, do you have the dimensions? I need to buy a new bag?… thanks
finally!
Hmmm is the image real? I also think the “99” label looked some flat.
Time will tell.
And the alpha (α) logotype above the “99” used to be red…
Not on this camera. Differentiation for FF?
Alpha-NEX logo is silver… maybe it’s a hint of forthcoming hybrid mount?
Where’s the attractive Orange α…
Clean hdmi?? I have to see it! Besides… no words on buffer capacity. This could mean it will be very small…
Why are there two oranges rings, an inner (more vivid one) and one around that?
because black coloured weather sealing rubbers are too mainstream.
The outer is a conical surface, out from the shadows…
That is one weird looking camera. A flash pop-up button but no flash? Flat Sony logo area that melds into the mount — what does that look like in profile? And the Alpha logo is no longer cinnabar (like a NEX!), and the “99” looks Photoshopped on. Also, looks like there is a tab to flip up the translucent mirror for removal, but it also looks like it would interfere with the bottom of the mount just flipping up!
Hard to tell what hotshoe is on it, too.
This may be what the camera actually looks like, but I hope this is just a poor render of it (like the NEX-7 render that said “NO” instead of “ON”).
I don’t think that’s a flash pop up button, I’m pretty sure that’s the sync cable port
I thought so, too, but it just looks so much smaller than the sync port on the A900. And now that Andrea confirmed it has a pop-up flash I’m fairly convinced that this is the button for it, but the render left out the flash.
One thing is not correct! You say there is a build in flash, but thats not on the image! I hope the A99 is without the flash = lighter camera! 🙂
But one thing is shure, im ready to order the A99! I already have the A77 witch is a fantastic camera, so imagin the A99!
THERE IS a Build in flash on the picture. look carefully on the left side. Ther is a THIN line.
Sam, to the cameras left, or to the viewers?
By magnifying the image on my laptop, I can clearly see at thin line – going from (the cameras) left side horizontally between the “α” sign and the “99” digits, then going up above the “SONY” letters on the viewfinder front but on the VF top, just about 1 mm behind the front. Then continuing down on the (cameras) right side of the EVF, and finally from there horizontally out to the right side (of the camera).
This would be the camera topplate, because I can see NO thin lines from, say, 1 mm in on the EVF top and
going in the back direction neither on the left nor of the right side of the EVF. I can’t find any popup flash in THIS picture, at least.
Also, the “popup flash button” looks like an unprotected PC-connector (think it ought to be more shiny if so, though).
Finally, the “α 99” letters don’t look right.
I would say that this is either a pre-production version, or a fake. But are the pre-production versions really marked with “Sony”?
The wrtten specs seems me to be closer to the real things, though.
.
Sorry, below is how my reply above should have looked like, if I had been able to finish editing quick enough…
Admin, can you remove my partly duplicate post above?
*************************************
Sam, do you mean to the cameras left side, or to the viewers?
By magnifying the image on my laptop, I can clearly see a thin line – going from (the cameras) left side horizontally between the “α” sign and the “99” digits, then going up along the EVF left side and then above the “SONY” letters on the viewfinder front but on the VF top, just about 1 mm behind the front. Then continuing down on the (cameras) right side of the EVF, and finally from there horizontally out to the right side (of the camera), below the IR lamp.
This would be the camera topplate, because I can see NO thin lines from the 1 mm in on the EVF top line going in the back direction, of the EVF, neither on the left nor on the right side. So I can’t find any popup flash in THIS picture, at least.
Also, the “popup flash button” looks like an unprotected PC-connector (think it ought to be more shiny if so, though).
Finally, the “α 99” letters don’t look right.
I would say that this is either a pre-production version, or a fake. But are the pre-production versions really marked with “Sony”?
The wrtten specs seems me to be closer to the real things, though.
.
GunnarK, I mean left to the viewers. and I dont mean that long camera top plate thin line. I suddenly realized laptop user might find diffcult to spot that thin line due to low screen contrast. Do you have access to a birght desktop moniter? That curved thin line lies between sony logo ‘S’ and the button that closest to the hot shoe(not those two abvoe IR).
Thanks for the clarification!
No, I havn’t access to any good, bright desktop monitor, although I would like to… 🙂
Trying to squeeze out the best possible of my little humble laptop and doing careful inspection, I found there MIGHT be a very faint line there. But I am far from sure, I think it may rather be some optical illusion put together by my mind out of the randomly scraggy camera top plate pattern surface. Either that, or my laptop screen is too lousy… 🙂
Well, we will soon know, I hope!
.
Maybe its an NEX style pop-up flash where it could be just behind that stereo mic capsule on the top likely between the mic and hotshoe.
is the 10fps full time autofocus with a huge buffer? That would be super.
What is selective noise reduction?
102 AF ? if that covers 80% of the frame that would be awesome as well
The whole mike unit could pop-up to reveal a flash.
Since there is no prism there may be room for something like that in the hump.
Is it just me who wants to see a picture of the SAL-300f28GII??? 😀
There were already a couple of them around, used one and its fantastic. Check dpr Sony forum to to have a look for yourself.
wow, this thing is BULKY
Compared to a NEX, yes. Compared to a pro level Canon or Nikon DSLR? No.
Interesting. It looks like the mirror angle has changed significantly from the A900/A850. If you compare the images below, there is a lot more mirror visible on the SLT design (and I don’t just mean the border around the mirror). This suggests the angle is different and shallower, which would explain why the area around the Sony logo is so much flatter: the PDAF array must be lower down in the viewfinder hump.
The A900 mirror seems to be a steeper angle, reflecting light higher into the viewfinder prism.
A850: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/AA850/ZURFRONT-LG.JPG
A99: http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj524/picrumors/Sony_SLT_A99_FF.jpg
I wonder how it’s possible to remove or replace that SLT mirror through the mount opening. It looks too large to come out that way.
The mirror flips up and slides out – easy.
Oh really? Compare the mirror assembly on the A99 to the A77 and tell me how easy it looks to flip up and come out.
A77: http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/gadgetlab/2011/08/SLT-A77_front.jpg
A99: http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj524/picrumors/Sony_SLT_A99_FF.jpg
The A77 is easy, sure. But the A99? Not so sure!!
There is no shortage of FF film cameras with big mirrors that lock up just fine.
If it only flips up 45° , then you can slide it out downwards through the center of the mount.
But you are comparing an OVF (A850) with an EVF (A99) and they are two different principles! If you instead compare with the A77 you can see that the visual projected width and height of the mirror in the pictures has what I can see the same relationship between the height and width in the A99 pictures here and this picture of the A77:
http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/gadgetlab/2011/08/SLT-A77_front.jpg
Notice the difference in protrusion for the flash.
The ‘a99’ does not have any flash protrusion at all.
So, either no flash, or fake picture. I lean toward fake.
I always amazes me that the leak picture are taken in perfect angles. 😉 And in great light.
If this was cut out from a brochure, then why not leave some part of the brochure in the pic, to add credibility? and if so, why only the front pic?
If I where to create a fake, I’d do it as a front, it seems as the simplest approach.
But if it a fake, it is very nicely done.
Crop factor in video mode 1,3…i guess! 🙁
Really looks like a photoshopped photo to me… put out by someone to see who bites…
Anyway, only a few more days and we’ll see the real thing!!!… Can’t wait… Already sold my a77 on ebay… still have my NEX-7 but may sell that too if the new *secret* NEX-PRO looks any good!!!… Roll on October when I can get my hands on the a99.
USB2,I thought Sony was a progressive electronic company! 90’s technology.
While I don’t care because I always use a card reader (and you always should), this did surprise me. Why not usb3.0 or .. well anything faster than usb2? Oh well.
No point adding USB3.0 when the entire data bandwith of the A99 does not saturate USB 2.0
Will someone please sell a stealth kit to block out that big orange lens mount…
Not good for inconspicuous journalism. Better get my black duct tape ready.
This is an a77 picture!!
I do not think its a a77 picture. Look at that strange kbob with a button in the middle of it on the lower right corner. I’m surprised no one has asked about it. Wonder what it is. It’s in the same place as a AF mode on a77 but this doesn’t seem to have markings and the button in the middle us new too.
No, this is definitely not the A77. While there is a family resemblance, there are many differences.
no 36mp – a real disaster for sony – who should be keeping pace with the pro top end like they did with the a900.
the disaster is with nikon and the 36Mpix sensor! After first enthusiasm, a lot of troubles show up. no proper lenses, need a tripod for sharp images; etc etc etc …
Sony is the winner here with a 24Mpix incl. PDAF on sensor.
Meh, 60 odd Mb per shot no thanks.
I’ll stick with 24Mp
Quantity doesn’t mean quality.
Anyway there are areas of photography where adding more MPs becomes questionable after certain point.
For example landscapes need big depth of field which means heavy stopping down of lens making diffraction stronger. And extra pixels give zero benefit if pixels have all become more blurred. (+for same tech smaller pixels have always lower signal quality)
$2,800.00 ………okay I guess, but for still photographers it will need to compete with the d800 at only a few hundred more.
It may well be a bargain for video types and hopefully the promise of the SLT design and the EVF delivers were it’s important in the final image.
Can’t wait to see how well it does, but with Sony’s problem manufacturing lenses it’s hard to see why an art school student would build a system around Sony and not follow the crowd shooting Canon 5d or a Nikon.
The only thing I hope for now is that the camera has a big enough memory buffer to take advantage of that 10fps burst.
The SLT probably delivers on AF, but it can’t help but degrade IQ since it eats some light.
I do sincerily hope that Sony finally drops that stupid regionalized video differences with 50/60 and 25/30/24 fps they have implemented on previous cameras.
If this camera is supposed to be serious in the video department it would be ridiculous to impose such limitations.
Very appealing specs. But the lack of fast memory and (to less extent) USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt spoils all impression.
Dennis
I think these annoying PAS/NTSC regional limitations should be taken care by some legislators…
So, what is the knob on the lower left on the camera body ?
It’s not just a knob! 🙂 look real close 😉
Carl
It looks like a lid over a connector for sure.
I checked an A77 picture and it seems that the A77 has the AF mode select wheel around that area.
Quite compact for an FF Camera!!!
Just quickly superposed the A99 and an A77
(Aligned A mounts)

A new cam… just like an old cam.
Where is the Pop Up Flash?
Does it have focus peaking?
Link to a size comparison of the leaked a99 image vs the a77.
http://www.goldeneraphoto.com/People/sony-a99/25262338_PXXvpq#!i=2074631963&k=XDRJp9z
I overlayed the two and the a99 (if this is the reall a99) looks to be about the same size as the 5d MKIII
Ren
Nice, a little bigger and a little wider – as you would expect. If this image is legit of course…
Yep, it definitely all depends on if it’s a legit image of the a99. I am curious how close my numbers are to the final specs from Sony…we’ll see.
Good sizing I’d say. Personally I like tank like DSLR. I’m not a Pentax Q guy 🙂
Do you guys think Sony ever asks a photographer if this is what they want in a Camera system? I bet Canon has a killer Camera ready by now.
Dennishh,
Of course they do. They put the prototypes in the hands of their Sony sponsored pros and get their feedback for many months prior to release. I have had email conversations with one of the Sony pros, but he won’t give up any sensitive info. Didn’t hurt to ask! LOL
Furthermore, Ren and DennisH, Sony asked numerous pro photogs what they wanted in the new camera fully two years ago.
Their respective rumor sites seem to believe that Canon will introduce NO NEW EOS for Photokina, and that the only Nikon will be the cheapo D600. Hardly a killer camera. 24 mpx, but I bet not the 24 mpx in the A99.
Really looking forward to the announcement and Photokina. I’m in the market for a new video camera and a new stills camera to possibly supplant my 5d2, FS100 and 5n.
The A99 image looks like a prototype, if its real.
Yup looking good SONY for giving us an alternative to CANIKON!!! I’m ready to try it out and buy….Post those reviews!!!!
Fake!!!!is false, it shows very well that that mirror is added, is the enlarged 77! False false false!
If you look at this pic and the A77 side by side, you will see that the two cameras, while similar, are very different in many ways, including the proportions of various features. There is no way that this is a Photoshopped A77.
u’re absolutely right…
it is a post production of a900 and the a 77, i got both, so if a cloning happened, i can see it…but whoever edited the photo, did a good job…
check this link out, looks more real to me tho, hehee:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjgVp-vv0q8
think the price is a bit too high.
even the D800 body is cheaper and i think nikons counterpart for teh a99 will be the D600 which will cost about 1500 bucks.
what do you think?
what are you talking about? The D800 is $3500. This camera should be compared to the D4 and 1D series, the price of which is more than double this camera. Save your money and stop complaining I say.
There’s a flash. Carefully. It is visible on the left. Machine translation.
Looks like a lot of people should invest in a new monitor and/or new glasses first before buying an expensive FF camera, because there’s clearly a seam that hints at a pop up flash. 😉
yes, it’s very faint in the image, but it’s there on the left. it just doesn’t seem to appear on the right side…could be the lighting i suppose.
Oh man, I must need glasses then. My monitors are just fine – how good do you need to view a 72dpi image? – and I even bumped curves in PS and I still don’t see anything other than a possible compression artifact on the left side (maybe).
I trust Andrea’s confirmation of an onboard flash but I just don’t see it in this mockup.
One other interesting thing – that button on the right above the mount does not have the flash icon and the “button” in the bottom right has ridges and looks to me more like a small dial.
Photo Rumors is reporting that it does NOT have a built-in. Game on, which rumor site is going to get it right!?
And we have two more candidates! 😉
Despite the heavy compression, there’s still definitely a line on the left visible which is not an artifact. The ironic part its that people claimed the exact same thing (no popup flash) based on the first A77 pictures when there were gaps if you looked closely.
And this looks to be the real camera rather than a mockup. In fact, it looks like an official picture for release, which at this point wouldn’t need/want mockups.
I think you’re right. Can’t see any line with my old glasses and laptop monitor. Perhaps the mic assembly pops up? Definitely a line there. 😉
Not going to say anything about the photograph but I have my a77, A700, Sigma 6-16mm and sony 70-200 F2.8G ready to sell to get the A99 so long as the reviews pan out.
Si
Why would you sell 70-200 G? It could eadily be one of the best lenses on A99!
A hideous, nondescript blob – the A900 is Helen of Troy by comparison. I’m sure it will take great pictures, but after seeing this I’m far more interested in the secret Sony “thing” Steve Huff mentioned.
comparing the image to one of the A700 and matching them in scale via the mount, the A99 looks to be only slightly larger, which is great news if the camera performs as promised. Should be the smallest FF DSLR.
argh!! no internal flashh!!!!
Flash is under the microphone.
I enhanced the brightness and contrast of the a99 image and you can clearly see there are no lines where there should be if there were on-board flash.
This leaked photo is either a mock-up or a pre-production model…or it’s the real thing and there is no on camera flash.
http://www.goldeneraphoto.com/People/sony-a99/25262338_PXXvpq#!i=2074930380&k=rJcRZtt
You can also see the difference in size between the a900 and a77.

Did you noticed that AF-mode knob doesn’t have any marks? Rumoured third wheel? Tri-Navi?
Thanks for the comparison shots. The new camera seems to be quite a lot proportionately taller than either of the other two.
That new knob at the bottom left somehow suggests tri-navi…
Beautifully edited photo!

Tnx for the link.
Compared to the 9, the 77 and 99 have a extra ‘metal’ edge in the mount.
At 2 o’clock you see the aperture connector, but what is the connect @ 5 o’clock for?
Personally, i think is is more like it after trying to get something about the a99:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjgVp-vv0q8
If only Sony had the cajones to do that design. Looks brilliant to me – angular like the A900 but definitely a revolutionary leap. Excellent design work.
We’ve know for maybe two years, more than a year in any case, that the design was student work, and has nothing to do with the A99.
I don’t think anyone is saying it was from Sony. Still looks better to me than the A99 shown here (although I think it is plenty attractive, just not a proper evolution from the Minolta line like the A900 was).
It look like an orange77 =.=” so curious about nex pro! like to see it!
I hope it support tethering shoot, must be awesome.
Nice looking camera. Now make that FF NEX camera!
The pic looks fake! The cheap looking out of scale white Alpha logo looks horrible. Personally, I don’t believe anyone here who says that appearance or style doesn’t matter. By that measure I suppose it could be pink with white trim and you would place a pre-order today?
Style does matter, more for some cameras, of course, than others. But style is in the eye of the beholder. For example, retro design totally turn me off, but excite others.
I believe that Sony has changed the color of the Alpha logo for this camera: white for FF?
And, btw, what on earth is cheap-looking or out-of-scale about the Apha logo?
I hope those specs are NOT final… I would have expected at lest the following basics to be included… if not I’m not getting the A99 this time, I’ve already been bitten with my A77 still not having tether support and it’s very frustrating for a top range camara to be missing this basic feature that the entry level camera’s from the competition have now days.
– USB 3.0
– Full Tether Suport
– GPS
I’ll wait for final specs but so far I’m not very happy but realise this is a rumour and is not final… we will see I guess.
GPS would be useful- but then there would be all kinds of comments about short battery life.
Include the ability to turn it off and everyone is happy.
could not agree more, if you turn it off it does not consume battery, so people that want it can use it… GPS is so cheap I can’t understand why it’s not included and is one of the reasons I have not purchased a NEX camara as well as another friend from work, once you use GPS on holidays and events you learn how useful it can be and I will not buy another camera without GPS… My old “PhotoTrackr” device will never be used again and it just too much hassle to get tagging done compared to in body GPS and 100% always accurate time on every shot… Hopfully Sony pull there finger out and come giving the customers what they want as Im’ getting close to doing a system change and I’ve been a big Sony supporter for a long time and also used Minolta before that.
Hope to see the A99 with 36 megapixels.
Even with my A900 right now, 99% of the time I use it for wedding shots, I set it up to shoot with 13MP, who needs more than 24 MP? very simple, do you make prints larger than 18×24 all the time?
If Nikon can manage to bring the D600 in at $1,500 I still think it will be the star. But this new Nex has me intrigued.
How bought the important Ziess 50 mm 1.4 or 1.2 and new 70-200 f2.8 II and 70-400 mm lenses? Any info on these would help greatly.
If that’s the real thing, it surely looks ugly to me, especially next to the D800 or 5DIII. Specs aside, A900 is far better looking than this. A camera doesn’t have to look this bad to take good pictures.
its all personal taste. I like it. I think the Nikon FF bodies look ugly as shit but thats just me.
I agree with it. It’s the personal standpoint, If something looks ugly or not. I prefer the look of the 5D Mark II. The D800 doesn’t look good for me, it’s horrible. This picture of the a99 looks nice, but If I should be honnest I prefer the old Minolta look of the a900. The look is partually still there, the hand grip and the battery grip of the new cameras have the old touch. But the rest is a modern body. Good looking, but not so individual anymore.
Can’t argue about taste (or it’s useless anyway): I thought the prism of the A900 looked ugly.
Looks good to me but hope people will look more at the pictures it takes.
I prefer using camera for taking photos instead of looking it sitting in some place as decoration.
So let’s leave judging until we know how comfortable it’s in hand and how well controls are positioned.
Cameras do not take pictures, photographers do.
Hahaha, yes I used the same line until someone corrected me… these days cameras can take the pictures without the photographer…
+1 yep I agree and I too love the curb appeal of my A900. When I first saw that YT vid of the A9xx with angular cuts I was ecstatic. Then I realized it was just someone’s pipedream.
I dont know why no one has noticed the 9’s in the 99 dont match eachother. zoom in, look at the edges, and also the corner radius. Doctored photo. But maybe most of it will make it’s way on the real a99 🙂
You are right. 😀
I sure noticed it, and any third grade school kid could have done better.
built in flash? so I think this is NOT Sony’s Flagship pro-body yet!
Does a built in flash really matter that much? I would prefer a build in flash to be honest.. often when I’m out with friends that have the A850/A900 for them to use remote flash they always need to attach a flash to the body.. for this reason along I think a cheap flash or any kind of remote trigger for off body flash is a good thing.. I understand it’s not really that useful as a flash for decent pictures along but it does have some plus points as well that many forget untill they need it 🙂
It looks like mockup… and it mean that You have to wait ….. 😉
Nothing about Zeiss 50 1.2? Mmmh… what a pity!
Yes, too bad they won’t release the 50 f/1.4 ZA, when ZF.2 and ZE will have a 55mm f/1.4 soon.
That’s all sony stuff in Photokina? where is 50ZA?
Well, Xitek has a good record of posting leaked (willingly or not) images (remember the NEX-5N leak that not too many people believe it was true because it appeared to be too thin?) Well, I belive this is true. It has what many sources said, A77 like body and just slightly bigger.
What I don’t understand is why Sony would call this the A99 and not A91 or slightly higher (eg, A92, A93..etc) why are they starting at A99?
They obviously already have a 36MP sensor and if they release that as well what are they going to call that one? A99 does not seem to fit for this 24MP model in my mind.
As already mentioned it’s also missing USB3, Tether support, GPS and thunderbolt so I can’t see this being a flagship full frame camera but more of a low end, entry level camera with older technologies being included. There must be a newer version coming out as well? I can’t believe this has taken this all these years to come up with these specs.. I’m sure it must be better than the current rumour OR there will be a better model out shortly after (eg, this is A91 and A9x will follow)
How do you know if they are missing or not? Have you seen the official specification sheet yet? No? Well try waiting until you have before making silly statements.
Hary Roger, thanks for the great feedback that is of absolutely no help at all.. If you read above I did mention this as well in my previous post “I’ll wait for final specs but so far I’m not very happy but realise this is a rumour and is not final… we will see I guess.”
A nice video: http://snapsort.com/video/LjgVp-vv0q8/SONY-A99

I hoped for a new sensor, which does not need AA filter on.
nessun flash incorporato.

dove normalmente c’è il comando per la fuoriuscita del flash ??????
non può essere che si alza la calotta con il microfono ?

It’s really very complex in this active life to listen news on TV, so I only use internet for that reason, and obtain the newest information.
We shot this short film entirely on the Sony A99 with a Sigma 50mm 1.8 and the Sony/Ziess 15-35mm 2.8
