Fuji X-E1 has Sony viewfinder. Zeiss for NEX back in Stock in USA.

USA readers are struggling to find the Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 for NEX in Stock. The good news is that today fourteen lenses are in Stock for the normal price via Samys at Amazon (Click here).

The other news is that Fuji announced the X-E1 which features the Sony 2,36k dot OLED viewfinder (Click here to see the X-E1 at Amazon). While Dpreview wrote that this is “likely the same NEX-7 viewfinder” this may not be truth. The NEX-7 viewfinder has a contrast ratio of 3500:1 (Source: Digitalrev) while the Fuji X-E1 viewfinder has a higher contrast ratio of 5000:1 (Source: Cnet). This would mean that the X-E1 uses the same viewfinder of the upcoming NEX-6 and A99 cameras!
Anyway, to learn mroe about the Fuji viewfinder check FujiRumors where you can get a full roundup. We will have to wait six days only to have our own showdown!

          1. Good lenses tend to be expensive. That’s kind of how it works. Nice to have the option for those of us who care about such things.

  1. @admin:
Original sources reported 2,360k dots with the meanning of 2360k dots
(the separation is for thousands, and not a comma)

Please if you could correct the text “2,36K dots”
    to: 2360k dots, 2,360k dots, 2’360k dots…
    or: 2,36M dots, 2.36M dots…

    1. ^^^ OCD

In this context I doubt that more than 0.0001% of people reading this site has ever mistook the numbers written by Andrea for anything else.

  2. Is it true that the president of Ricoh/Pentax has a Sony television??? Inquiring minds want to know!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  3. The controls on the X-E1 are much better than the Tri-Navi of the NEX 7. Also it has a better selection of lenses.

Thanks for pointing me to the Fuji X-E1. This may very well be my next camera 🙂

    1. The main thing you need to look at is focusing speed. So far all of Fuji’s cameras are pretty slow at focusing (especially the Fuji X-Pro1). The X100 is better with the new firmware but still slow. The NEX series is nowhere near the blazing speed of M43 or Nikon’s 1 series, but at least the AF speed is good enough to not hinder the user much.

  4. seems like a great camera with very very good optics offering. Fuji is going very seriously with this, and more committed compared to Sony..

good competition is always good =)

  5. Maybe Sony can put together a 135 mirrorless camera with a proper viewfinder? Naaah, too easy, go on with the metallic purple nexes…

    1. Well..as long as people don’t see interesting lenses coming to NEX between today and next year in the same day, there will be a loss of market share, at least from users thinking about buying NEX-6 or NEX-7 just because of lenses.

Look at what they’re doing for XF lenses…14, 18, 35 and 60mm lenses. Then they’re releasing a 23, 27 and 56. They have covered pretty much everything. Got to wait what they will be releasing for Telephoto range.

Right now, Sony focused on releasing 3…THREE 18-200 zooms (not counting the Tamron, just Sony)…Sigh.. And we are left with a so so 16, then a great but pricey 24, then a uninteresting 30mm macro, the promising 35 (is it 35 or another 30?) and the excellent 50.

The Fuji 55-200 for sure, will be smaller and faster than Sony 55-210. What I’m waiting to see is, how small the Sony 35mm f/1.8 will be, compared to the Fuji 35mm f/1.4…

      1. Exactly. Fuji’s doing it right with those prime lenses. Hope Sony catches on, especially since I’m already a proud Nex owner.
