Silkypix 5 promises better X-TRANS RAW-files support soon. Here is the press release:
“Ichikawa Soft Laboratory (Representative Director: Yoshikuni Ichikawa; Headquarters: Chiba City) has succeeded in improving image processing algorithms in the digital development software “SILKYPIX Developer Studio Pro5,” further improving picture quality when developing RAW images from the “X-Trans CMOS Sensors.”
“SILKYPIX Developer Studio Pro5” has received high praise on its image quality from many customers since it became compatible with “X-Trans CMOS Sensors” (16 February 2012), but with these improved image processing algorithms, it can now further utilize the functions in “X-Trans CMOS Sensors,” as well as create images that maintain high resolution while eliminating images such as moiré.
We have already completed the technology for improving these image processing algorithms, and plan on releasing an updated version of “SILKYPIX Developer Studio Pro5” in the near future.

I honestly do not think I could bring myself to purchase and seriously use a piece of software with that name, no matter how good it was.
It will be big disappointment, if they will not upgrade free version wich comes with camera. Silky is horribly expencive
Fuji customers get upgrade pricing from the “free” version included with the camera to DP5. Its not free but why should it be?
There are lots of threads about this on some of the popular Fuji forums. So if you do some research you can easily get it for a comparable price to all the other processors.
Honestly anyone looking for the best X-Trans processing shouldn’t look past this package. From my experience the other processors are behind DP5 even in their current state.
I find it hard to believe that this company has any significant market penetration and this is not helped by the very high price of their products and the clunky interface. I can only think that they are applying the Spanish logic to marketing >> we are not selling many so we need to set a high(er) price!<<. A recipe for disaster. With LR, C1 and now Aperture providing X-Trans support Silky is becoming completely irrelevant.
The version 5 of SilkyPix has a much much better interface than the version 3, which is incidently the bundle package of the cameras. And I say this for having used SP since 2007, version 3 and since a year the 5.
Of course, SilkyPix while being a powerful software needs patience and a lot of experimentation. But once the user has defined his/her own workflow, it works well consistently.
I recently tried LR on a demo licence (30 days) and it looked not that different from what I was used to with SilkyPix, same controls over the images: LR says ‘Export’ and SP says ‘Develop’ 😉
ISL, the Editor added the Fuji X20 and Fuji X100S in March to the list of supported cameras.
Cool. I had the chance to open some Demo Raw files for the Fuji X20 and I got hooked from the results!
“as well as create images that maintain high resolution while eliminating images such as moiré.”
Eliminating images?
Well, that’s one way of solving any moire issue. 😉
Can they also allow those not from another galaxy to be able to use it?
I use the pro 5 very interesting
but are not fully satisfied, very good program for X-trans but with many gaps on some adjustments. nowadays the best in my opinion remains “cp.one7”
