Only a few days to go and no leaked pictures? Sorry for saying this but are you even working on getting leaks and rumors?
SAR and Mirrorless Rumors have got leaked pictures of NEX-5R, NEX-6, A99, X-E1 and Q-10 days if not weeks before announcement but here at 4/3rumors, you are very content with what Olympus’ marketing department is willing to give you.

It’s a tuff world. If it would be that easy there would be tons of rumor websites. Anyway, even if it is not a big deal…the 15mm lens got leaked 🙂

Admin, do you run Sony-Alpha-Rumors? I always assumed it wasn’t you because the English is, well, less charmingly stylized 😉 .
Sony does have a lot going on, both in their own line and in selling/collaborating on product with other manufacturers. They’re now selling their sensors it seems to everyone buy Canon (exciting to hear the Pentax K-3 us getting their 24MP sensor; not a Pentax user, I simply respect their DSLR’s/enjoy their user’s enthusiasm/ independence).
On Sony, TBA at Photokina: a new pro-FF DSLR (A-99) for $2700, a pro-mirrorless body, the NEX-6 (which out-specs the 7 in some areas), the NEX 5R and the recently announced NEX F3. Basically a completely refreshed and expanded line-up, plus the class leading RX-100 compact just a few months back. And new lenses as well.
Hopefully Olympus has a nice counter punch in the updated E-PM/E-PL lines, XZ-2 compact and some news on their pro-mFT. Maybe even a surprise or two with an E-7 or E-700, who knows (hope springs eternal).
I’ll be staying with mFT for the lens size/quality. It’s the system that counts, not just the bodies.

I tend to agree.
43rumors has been spoon fed “leaks” and “rumors” by Oly and Panasonic.
99% of the content is either unfounded speculation (so not even rumors) and amazon/ebay/bhphoto etc ads.
The site might’ve had some good leaks before, but for the last year or two the “leaks” were nothing but small bits of info provided by companies few days before the release/announcement.
I know that it’s not easy, but in the sea of ads and empty speculation and wishful thinking, very little quality and accuracy remains.
This, of course is beneficial to the admin since he gets a lot of visits and clicks daily making him money, but I feel this site is just a puppet for companies in making hype about their products and they’re not doing their fair share of the “deal”.

Thank you for your work on mirrorless rumor. I know the sites are related but couldn’t be sure. Either way, the quality of content on MR is a lot better than 4/3rumor. It is just my opinion but image teaser, posters and “Olympus/designer/manager told me” are not rumors. This site is being fed PR material.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the images are already out on some Asian forum just like how D600, A99, 5R, 6 and Q10 were leaked. The hotshoe poster above is a teaser, not leak. Don’t confuse the two.

There is the caucasian guy. Smart, handsome, with a jeans jacket and a three day beard he is a rebel, an alternative self thinker, who can spend nights outdoors, whilst philosophizing with a friend over politics and the universe and stuff. We got brown, blond and black hair and three colors from very white to dark. (Guess the asian guys get their own threesome). The blond is the bonus you buy with the camera. She has her hand on his shoulders admiring him, for she has no clue how he did what he did. I can almost hear her say, “you can make these things so, I don´t know, so good” in her stupid high pitched voice. The darker one is more smart, she points out something on the camera and makes a comment, she´s more the intellectual yet also in love with him. Though they seem to be standing somewhere, they´re in reality laying in bed, naked, clinching their bodies. They are naked and he just took a shot of his penis. His satisfied grin says it´s massive. Next picture would be he looking at us grinning even more, and a little fair head cut at the lower frame edge.
question is: why not go for the second picture?

That hot shoe…
Look at the last 4 Olympus MFT cameras. 3 of them have flat, streamlined with body hot shoe (E-P3, E-PL3 and E-PM1). Only one that has a black hotshoe showing on top of the body: OM-D E-M5!!
Does this mean we will see a new OM-D??
Good observation, but I doubt there’ll be a new OM-D – yet. This either means that hot shoe is more raised than on any of the PENs so far or that new EVF has a hot shoe on top.

Or maybe Oly has trickled down the OM-D 5-way IBIS into a PEN? That also could account for hot shoe on a hump. Recall that Oly said the hump is not for retro looks… but was a design decision to place the 5-way IBIS in ideal position.
So maybe Oly simply transplanted IBIS (virtually?) as is into a PEN, and we’re about to see our first 5-way IBIS PEN. That PEN would definitely command a premium (for now) between current PENs and the OM-D EM-5.

Hot Shoe is step 1. Now add an EVF and get Phottix, Pixel King or Pocket Wzzard to add iTTL
That picture was taken with an e-m5, using a 45mm f/1.8 lens. Good to see Olympus using their own gear.

And it’s bad to see an advertisement agency to forget to do the very basic thing: strip the EXIF.
They’re reacting to a photo viewed on the new tilt/touch OLED and the E-M5 style hotshoe is a clue to the mystery built-in/not built-in EVF.
But I must say, I found the more salacious interpretation far more entertaining 😉 !
Why would they want to strip the exif if it was taken with m4/3 gear? It just creates a positive impression of the brand for the nerds who would think of checking the exif in the first place.

Admin has said no, the E-PL5 will be its replacement at least for now. I could, however, see a rangefinder style with built-in side mounted EVF model (to compete with the NEX-6) as a possible upcoming true replacement, maybe in early 2013. Pure speculation, but logical.
Maybe, new E-P3 name will be E-M50,…..for this next year. 😉
Ho hum
After so many years of this gear hunting/switching/obsessing and the fact that I’m not trying to make money from it anymore, at least not at the moment, I’m seriously considering getting rid of everything and just using a smart phone. The image quality is pretty darn good and for everything but shallow DOF, it’s probably all I need. I don’t really print any more, so everything is digital and it just doesn’t matter how good it looks at a 100% even though it doesn’t look bad, for a phone. Plus, it’s my watch, alarm clock, internet, GPS, TV, stereo as well as my camera, and it’s fits in my pocket. Simplicity – less is more. Less to think about, less to worry about, less to obsess over. Oly should have made a phone. 😉
There is very little enjoyment taking pictures using a p&s or a phone camera. To me, if I’m going to take pictures I need to have a beautiful machine as my sniping partner. My Pen gives me a smile no other camera does every time I look at it and pick it up to use. It’s just a delight, and it encourages me to take more pictures and take photography more seriously.
