  1. “Due to high demand we anticipate being unable to fulfill all customer orders.” – Amazon
    This camera is HOT

  2. Even as a Panasonic fan, I have to say their old cameras were ugly, but now Panny has two of the most attractive M43 cameras ever made and Olympus now has the monstrous EM-1 with the tacked on looking grip. What happened?

    1. What happened is that you lost your senses :-). I like the GX7, and the GM1 looks nice — although several who have tested it complain about cramped user interface. To call the E-M1 monstrous is ridiculousness that can only be explained by hard core fanboyism.

      1. More with aesthetic principles than fanboyism. I disliked the E-M5 at first, not a fan of its angles. But it grew on me, but still prefer the PENs and the GX1. And then the E-M1 came out. I think it’s ugly. To be fair, it’s up there with the GH3 and G6 in terms of ugliness.

I obviously hated humps but forgave the faux pentaprism of Olympus but the E-M1 is just over the top! But I actually like how Sony combined their modern aesthetics with the hump in the a7, so I prefer it to the E-M1, but I still prefer the hump gone. Which brings me to my last point: The GX7 and NEX-7/6 are the most beautiful digital cameras I have ever seen.

      2. I’m such a hard core fanboy that my only two cameras right now are Olympus…

The E-M1 is about as plain as the G6.

        1. Of course, aesthetic preferences has nothing to do with fanboyism.

But calling a camera “monstrous” is not an expression of preferences: it is an immature attempt of trying to brand preferences as an objective truth.

In my view (and this is an expression of preference), the GX7 looks fine/practical, but the grip gives it a somewhat dull look. The GM1 looks nice, but probably too small for my fingers. And the grip (??) — at first I thought it was a tiny LED torch placed there to show how small it is…

The E-M1 looks practical/functional, in my view. I find it relatively nice looking. If someone find it monstrous, it tells me that I have zero overlap with the assessment of this person.

          1. That doesn’t change the fact that the E-M1 AND the GH3 are monstrous cameras. It may be practical for some but for some people the GX7 and even the E-P5 achieved that for them, and are aesthetically pleasing for them as well. That was the case for me. Both E-M1 and GH3 are too big and ugly for me. I haven’t touched an E-M1 yet so I cannot vouch for how practical it is but it loses another point for me because I’m not adjusted to Olympus’ layout and menus.

          2. Can’t people finally figure out that what appeals to one person may not appeal to another? So what if one person thinks the EM1 and GH3 are “monstrous” or “ugly”? Who cares? Some people think the Pens have a lousy interface, the EM5 is too small and the controls too hard to use. Some like the rounded forms of the G6, others prefer the sawed from a block of wood look of the new Sony Nex cameras. Why does what someone else thinks about any product affect what you think or how you feel?

Do you all get so upset because someone prefers a different style of car than you? Does my driving a two seat sports car impinge upon your desire or ability to drive a 6,000 lb SUV? Do you get upset because some people are vegetarians? Does that stop you from enjoying your meat?

Get on with your life, let other people have their own opinions, just like you have yours. It’s a camera, not a religion or a child, and if your manhood or self-image is so fragile that you can’t accept someone else feels differently than you, you need professional help.

          3. Oh, and one last thought: Is how a camera looks really more important than how it works, and how the pictures it takes look?

          4. Sie haben wirklich recht, aber wenn keiner seine Meinung, seine Vorlieben, seine Sicht auf die Dinge äußert, was soll ich dann hier lesen ? Die Kommentare wären einfach nicht vorhanden… ;°)

          5. Because the guy above me can’t fathom that people like us who see the E-M1 and GH3 are monstrous exist, and I had to point it out again that no matter how “objective” he gets, we still don’t see that. He had to go all defensive on how we’re fanboys and all that. If you’re stupid enough to not get that, I suggest stop replying.

Oh, and if that hasn’t occurred to you that they all practically work the same, among m43 cameras, looks is the next most important thing.

          6. Sure sure .. the E-M1 with almost the same size and weight as an E-M5 with landscape grip is suddenly a MONSTER 😀

In my opinion it is good for mFT that there are smaller and bigger cameras.
So the people can get what they want and not only what some people dictate them to use.

        2. Yes…Aesthetics has nothing to do with Fantardism….Olympus makes beautiful, quality objects…Panasonic makes ugly plastic stuff that makes secondary file capture…..:-)

          1. Just kidding….I love the little GM-1….if only they could have stuffed a VF port on there…DARN!!!!!!! It is cool looking as hell….but maybe not with the new Oly 12-24mm!!!! LOL!

        3. +1
Tell me about the new Sony A7/A7r~
I’m a big fan of pentaprism design (Thus owning both A850 and the OMD-EM5) but then this time Sony’s design team has gone too far~

          1. Funny…I think the NEX cameras are the ugliest things I have ever seen. It’s like a computer company offered a camera with not the slightest thought to design or camera design aesthetics. Just my take on them…. With that in mind…I think that the Sony A7’s are quite interesting looking…both modern and holding to classic camera design…. I don’t hate them…..but the sensor is the real thing of beauty there! I think that Sony has a winner on its hands there…especially after the price drops a little. Very decently priced for what they are.

    2. The EP5 is still a very nice looking camera. And I think the EPL5 and EPM2 are improvements on their predecessors.

          1. True haha. But for some reason… Of all three, I prefer the a7, and might actually like it. It just did something different from the E-M1. Although that hump really looks awkward.

    3. If you came from the Olympus E-system Flag-ship cameras, you will think that the E-M1 has homage to them. And in that case, I appreciated. I believe the E-M1 is targeting those users. For anyone else, there are still Pen and E-M5. Provided that if you don’t use 43 lens, there is not much point to use the E-M1 anyway.

      1. What I like about Micro Four Thirds is that now you have one system, that on one hand competes with the RX-100’s of the world (take the GM1 + 12-32mm) and on the other hand with semi-professional DSLRs (E-M1 with f/2.8 zooms or f/0.95 primes).

And you can get everything in between. The system is incredibly modular.

      1. It’s not only about size. It’s about shape. E-M1 should not have looked silly DSLR with ackward hump.

Perhaps, Pana and FUJI should instruct Oly how to make charming and artful design rather than dinosaur-style, DSLR-shape like E-M1.

    4. Do you honestly think a professional photographer would choose a GX7 or GM1 over an E-M1 because of their looks?

        1. A professional wanting a system weight and size advantage wouldn’t choose an A7 because the lenses wouldn’t allow for that.

    1. Even if not you could always buy it and sell the lens… I know there are a lot of people interested in the lens itself, which doesn’t appear to be sold separately right now.

    1. My Rollei 35 has a viewfinder, though.
But the most stylish camera I have is my Pentax Auto 110 Safari.
I am so glad I can now get modern 110 films for him.
Just holding him in my hands gives me a big smile and a warm feeling.
Hmmm, time for a calming cuppa, methinks.

    1. And don’t forget you can stand on it. I was a little skeptical about the GM1 at first, but this is the one killer feature that’s tipped me over.

  3. I did notice only one ring on the 12-32 lens. Assuming this is the zoom ring, doesn’t it have a focus one? So no manual focusing?

    1. According to Dpreview: “The 12-32mm zoom has no focus ring – manual focus is instead achieved using the touch screen. In magnified view with manual focus enabled, a virtual switch appears vertically on the right side of the screen. Focus is adjusted to nearer and farther away by touching the icons on the switch. With each adjustment, the ‘switch’ jumps back into the center position.”

        1. Very good question! In fact, a much more useful and better post than all the fanboyish bashing and bickering around here…

      1. That sounds suspiciously similar to manual focus on the old LX models (and maybe later ones, I don’t know, haven’t used any since LX3), with a tiny joystick and a graphical representation of the focus point. It was/is a pain in the behind — tempting to say it was included just so they could check the “Manual focus” box on a list of features, not intended for actual use.

        1. This is what will kill this purchase for me. I won’t buy a lens without manual focus ring. I already tried that wit the 14-42 PZ and it did not work for me. Just not precise enough. No firmware upgrade will help this lens work on my GF1 because it doesn’t have a touchscreen.

          1. And I don’t think Panasonic is going to go back and release firmware update for ALL of their past cameras that could take this lens. Maybe, but not likely. As for Olympus, forget about it, I’m sure they would rather have us buy one of their lenses instead.

    2. I believe that there are basically two groups of people buying this tiny camera: enthusiasts who buy it as a second (or third) camera for its portability and convenience; and beginners. Therefor, manual focus, or lack of it, should not be an issue. That said, the MF still can be done. According to IR, “(Manual focus control is via the left/right buttons on the back of the camera.)”

      1. The GM1 plus the new 15mm Panaleica could make for a nice little street shooter. Though, it doesn’t look like one can shoot hyperfocal with this lens like you can with the Oly 12 and 17mm. Aperture control on the barrel is nice, though. I guess AF+aperture control+DoF scales all on one lens is asking too much.

  4. I’d never say these words for a cam, but the gm-1 is a cute little guy :)..or shall I say ‘tank’?! Well done pany!

  5. I wonder if the new lens will fit the Panasonic DMW-GWC1 wide angle converter that fits into 37mm thread of the PZ.
Touchscreen only MF is no fun though 🙁

    1. I have screen based MF on my phone’s camera, and it is surprisingly intuitive and nice. Though that doesn’t mean Panasonic’s implementation will be! 🙂

  6. WHERE IS THE 150MM F/2.8!?

Seriously, the only reason (for me) to stay in m4/3 are the Samyang fisheye and the promised fast and compact supertele. I can’t believe Panasonic is playing dumb on that one, when we don’t even have a date for the Olympus zoom. I’m mightily disappointed in Panasonic, and I doubt I’m the only one.

    1. Well they probably pulled the 150 because Olympus is putting out a 40-150 with comparable optics/better price. Basically the forthcoming 40-150 made the 150 prime pointless at the planned retail price.

    2. Well, the rumored price for the 150/2.8 was going to be $3,000. At that price, they probably would have sold a grand total of 4 throughout its lifetime, so they canceled it. 🙂

All joking aside, it was shaping up to be an inordinately large and expensive lens for what it was.

    3. It’s not listed because it’s only a short-term roadmap. They probably have at least half a dozen lenses in the pipeline at different stages of development (it would be crazy to start a new lens only after the previous one has been released). They don’t need to release everything at once, look at their current selection already, it’s awesome.

    4. Kharan, an oly person told me the 40-150mm would be out around Sept next year. The Pana 150, model was pretty much the same size as the oly zoom, so I dont think any advantage to the pana at all. I bought a 150mm f2 on ebay for $1000, and I love it. It is a heavy piece of glass, but super fast and utterly incredible quality. If you dont mind the weight, it is a stellar lens. If you want a lighter option, there is the 50-200mm 43 lens, which is also a gem, not the same quality, but still good, and a LOT lighter than the 150mm f2.

  7. Wow! My preorder is in! This will be the camera that is always with me….work, travel, hiking, biking, etc. as a old Leica fan/user, I really like the look.

  8. Hard time ahead for the new 20mm F1.7 M2 once this Leica branded 15mm hit the market .
Lucky I sold mine in favor of my 25mm Summilux .
I like this GM1 , might buy it for someone .

    1. Well, 15 20 and 25 have significant differences in FL anyway, so I guess there is still use for the 20mm. And it’s still the true pancake of the 3. I’m not sure which one I want since I already have the 14mm and will get the 20mm with he GX7. Is it worth to sell and buy the more expensive 15 and 25? I wish there was a way to test if I’m more comfortable with the 20 or 25.

      1. Yes, and even the 14mm 2.5 may still have a reason to live, for being smaller and cheaper. And don’t forget the body cap lens 😉 Both may size wise also be a better fit for this GM1 than the 15mm 1.7.

  9. In the last picture it almost looks like the lens mount is also smaller. Would be nice to see a comparison with no lens attached to see the lens mount/sensor compared.

    1. It looks about the same. The overall diameter of the lens is just smaller and actually reflects the actual size of the mount. And the metal mount might be thinner. Notice how in most lenses, the barrel gets larger in diameter after the actual part where it sticks to the metal mount. I think that’s what they meant when they said some lenses would “stick out”. I really really want to touch one right now….

  10. Love the design a lot, just wish it has a hotshoe and a bit worried about the electronic shutter – rolling shutter problem, perhaps? Maybe I’ll get GX7 instead but still this camera is adorable.

  11. Panasonic is on the right track; excellent
    GX7,GM1,15 f/1.7, 12-32, and the upcoming 35-100
    all portable, small, feature rich

    Well done

    1. Well, since it’s not that small you have to empty your pockets before you put GM1 in there ;).

We knew from the first rumor that it’s after Sony RX100 II and the price reflects that.

  12. No hotshoe for viewfinder = no purchase

it’s beautiful looking but sorry Panny, you’re not going to get me with this one.

    1. Agree. I might have bought it as an addition to my OM-Ds if it had the ability to take an add on viewfinder. And Panny would have had the extra money for the LVF-2 as well as I’ve only got the Olympus VF-2.
Oh well. I’ll see what the Olympus EPM-3 is like.

  13. I’m seeing Leica’s fingerprints on that 12-32 design. Excellent performance with only 8 elements…

And, how does it look when it is not retracted? I was shocked when I got the Olympus 9-18, because I hadn’t seen any reviews with a photo of it unretracted. 🙂

  14. I do like it.
This should replace the GF-series imo..

I don’t see myself taking advantage of the interchangeable mount to it’s full extent (other than the old 14mm or new 15mm), but it seems pretty capable with the kit lens. I’d love to see a more in-depth comparison with the rx100/ii. The rx100 has a faster equivalent aperture at all ranges and zooms slightly longer, but the gm1 no doubt has better ISO performance and goes down to 24mm.

    1. The GX7 has 0.5 stop better ISO performance compared to the RX100II. This is immediately lost in low light by putting in a 2-stop slower lens like the F3.5 of the 12-32 vs. the F1.8 of the Sony. The RX100II will surely have better ISO performance than the GM1 with kit lens.

  15. I’m surprised no one has mentioned it yet: there is no control wheel (other than the dial around the d-pad). For me this is a deal breaker for an otherwise perfect camera.

    1. I agree..

The lack of the control wheel is the only bad thing for me 🙁
It would be perfect a wheel like gf1, gx1.

        1. Not the same.

The Control Wheel is dual-mode and can switch between aperture and shutter speed control simply by pressing. It’s brilliantly simple. Too bad Panasonic failed to include it on the GM1!

  16. On paper I’m slightly disappointed by the video specs (no 60P/50P, just 60i/50i) but am willing to keep an open mind until I see actual footage. Bring on the reviews! I hope they have an early adapter offer to get the vertical grip free – seems essential for anyone planning on using bigger lenses.

  17. £630 pre order. No thanks seriously that’s a dumb price.
I like the idea, but it needs to be £200 cheaper and a hot shoe.

    1. Small but not so small with the lens. Maybe Panasonic would have been better off using the micro 4/3 sensor with a lens that is fixed no mount (faster zoom lens)

I get the idea, a small micro 4/3 camera, but get real here the price is crazy no VF, no hot shoe, come on they can do better than this

Nice idea but they blew it
Just because Sony overprice their RX100 II hugely, doesn’t mean Panasonic should follow that

      1. A camera this small is not really useful to have a viewfinder or an external flash. The point is that its compact and easy to carry. There are a slew of slightly larger cameras available that are more suited to have a viewfinder and a hotshoe.

The GM1 is roughly the same size as a Canon S95 and it’s actually smaller than a Ricoh GR. Yeah the lens adds some size, but this appears to be a great camera for party goers, street photographers alike.

Will likely ditch my GF1 for this one once I can get an all black GM1.

    2. I compare it to the Pentax Q that i own and wahooo, it’s hard to believed that Panasonic puts a µ4/3 sensor in it with a 24-62 zoom. Same Size, but i think that the Q have a better grip with the handle on the right.

    1. Judging from the shape and size of this grip same as AA battery I think that is exactly what Pany has mind down the line.

  18. Damn you Sony and Pana! I was pretty sure about the GM1 and then Sony released the RX10.

That RX10 is one complete package, a bit hefty and bulky, but not too much compared to a GX7/OM-D with the 12-35 for example and one gets the 35-100 on top of that, too!

On the other hand, the GM1 is as small as a LX7 or so, but comes with 43 sensor and a m43 mount! That is pretty adorable: high quality in an always on you package.

I know that these are totally different cameras and for me the IQ/DOF differences are not significant. If Pana had not released the GM1 then I would definitely go for the RX10: similar price as OM-D and GX7 but with 24-200 F2.8 CZ lens, good amount of controls and good IQ for stills/video can be expected. It is a comlete package w/o buying/changing lenses.

But know I am torn! -.- But at least we live in great days for photo-/videographers! 😉

    1. From that article:
“Once again, however, it appears that Panasonic is treating the US market as if it is radioactive, though.”

Well, no wonder, since the mirrorless US market remains minuscule, as people over there in general w/o consideration goes for Tupperware Canikon DSLRs instead. So concentrating on the Asian and European markets, which embraces this new tech, is the only logical way to go as of now. At least if they want their products actually sold, and not just advertised. Maybe the US mirrorless market will eventually grow someday, but for now it’s surely lagging.

  19. If the responses on this and other forums are any indication Pany might have trouble producing enough to keep up with demand. Only up to a day ago the sentiment at least on this forum was decidedly negative to now a complete reversal once people begin to see the real size comparisons with other cameras. As DPR has noted this GM1 camera is likely to shake up the market.

For those worried about having to get the new kit lens I wouldn’t worry as am sure there will be plenty of buyers out there anxious to try it out on their m4/3 cameras. Has anyone had the time to look at the Pany MTF IQ tests for this new lens? If I am not mistaken not only are the MTF scores higher than any other comparable kit lens I have seen, I don’t know of any single focus lens 12mm to 30mm with as good results? Wish they would have shown some direct comparisons without having to dig for them.

I think Pany with the GM1 will have a real winner on their hands and badly needed boost if the recent poor Pany camera sales in Japan are any indication hence the greater availability and sales for the US? Maybe they have run out of cameras made for the Japan market to sell but I don’t see the GX7 even showing in their sales only a few GF6s and G6 nor the EM5 for that matter even if the EM1 is doing very well? Very puzzling as I wish both Pany and Oly to do well.

    1. I suspect all mirrorless sales generally will be much healthier in the coming quarters.
This and the Panny GX-7, Olympus E-M1, Sony Alpha 7 and the forthcoming Fuji XE-2 and Nex APS-C updates will give a big boost to sales in the same way that the cheap FF dslrs gave a boost to their sales at the end of last year.

  20. I think what really made the difference in the postings on this site is that all the haters can no longer post anonymously, so they’ve stopped posting at all.

    1. so you think regulars here posted as anonymous… so maybe that would mean they did that because they were afraid the other camp would track them down and take extreme counteractions ? lol

  21. They have to offer one with a viewfinder or a hot-shoe

    c’mon panny I want one.

Oh and when is panasonic going to offer a either a new sensor or the approach du-jour, a variation WITHOUT the anti-aliasing filter?

    1. Before pictures of the back of GM1 emerged showing a full 3:2 sized LCD, I thought Pany might also product a similar GM2 only with hotshoe and EVF in middle like that shown in their Oct 8th Patent picture. Now I am not quite so sure any more but the lower cost of production with the simple shutter, smaller LCD and maybe slightly lower rez EVF might tempt them to produce such a lower prices model even if similar to GX7 in features but much smaller in size? All depends on just how well the GM1 and GX7 do. Just look how iphone sales took off after people started using them for picture taking hence Pany’s emphasis on small as larger cameras become less popular. The LT1 has shown a camera can be both very small and have an inbody EVF and I hope they place more emphasis on that model with maybe a higher rez EVF than that presently used.

  22. Why do they want to compete with Nikon 1 ?!?!?!?!

Time spend on developing 35-100 (they already have 4 zooms) and 15 can be used to develop more *serious* lenses.

  23. Hey, FYI photographyblog posted non resized samples. About the camera, the absence of second dial/wheel is not what I expected. I used to change aperture and shutter speed on my Canon S100 by two different dials, that’s fast and pleasant. GM1 size is convincing, but I guess I’ll need to wait for more hand-on reviews or even a different camera.

    1. Actually, how can anyone not like it? If somebody complains about its ergonomics or the lack of EVF and therefore bashes this camera, than that person has totally misunderstood the idea and point of this camera: either 2nd/3rd body or P&S upgrade.

Let’s hope that both continue with their good releases of the last years: E-M5, GH3, E-P5, G6, GX7, E-M1 and now GM1. Additionally we got the BMPCC now.

Although I might go for the RX10 instead of a M43 camera, I believe that m43 is the best and most versatile system around, at least for my casual needs.

      1. The lack of the hot shoe which prevents the use of an optional viewfinder is a big deal for many people, myself included. In bright sunlight, the screen will be hard or impossible to use – like every other screen on the market.

My MFT backup body to my E-M5 is an E-PM1. I use optical viewfinders and the EV-2 with it, when shooting during the day on bright days.

I adore this little Panasonic already, but the lack of hot shoe is a deal breaker. Not that I need more cameras anyway, but I’d rather buy an E-PM2 at almost half the price. It will have the same image quality and autofocus speed, almost the same small size, a grip that doesn’t cost $100 extra and lets me use the hot shoe accessories I already have.

        1. Yeah, I understand that. But for most upgraders, it is often already hard to justify 700€ for a camera, so they don’t think about an EVF.

Actually, this camera made the E-PM2 more interesting agaian. But the latter is still bigher, does not come with the small 12-32 and has not such a sophisticated TS system which might help to decrease the problem of too few buttons.

But as far as it seems, I am out of the game and trying to justify the harsh RX10 price tag to myself (that lens is obviously the reason N°1, since it combines conviniently 2 lenses which cost at least 1000€ each on any system).

  24. Yet another camera. I was hoping for something different, pocketable, something which can compete with Sony’s RX100, not yet another box with m4/3 sensor, smaller buttons and a large lens.

    1. This is way more attractive than the RX100. It’s about the same size. And it lets you swap that zoom lens against a fast aperture pancake – that alone makes it more attractive than the RX100 with its disappointing zoom lens – Zeiss or no Zeiss.

  25. Very attractive camera. But it doesn’t meet one must have feature for me: a hot show. I don’t care about flash, but I care about a viewfinder, not necessarily an EVF but optical viewfinders as well. I have no doubt the screen is great but in bright sunlight it will fail as all other screens fail the same way.

For the smallest form factor possible, still allowing to use a viewfinder as an option, I currently still use an E-PM1 alongside my E-M5. Should I ever need to replace the E-PM1, I will not choose this Panasonic GM1, even though it looks amazing and is probably a great camera. I would probably go for the E-PM2. I mainly use the pancakes on my E-PM1, the Panasonic 14mm and the Olympus 17mm, both with optical viewfinders or the Olympus EV-2.

I think the GM1 will sell well against the RX100II. I guess Micro Four Thirds users going for second body in smaller format will probably still prefer the E-PM2 based on lower price and the hot show.

    1. “Very attractive camera. But it doesn’t meet one must have feature for me: a hot show.”

      Wow – a hot SHOW!
Hehe, we really are craving these days, arn’t we? 😀

  26. Agree, a hot shoe would be a big plus. The E-PM2 offers that of course.

If I were designing, I would aim for ultimate portability/flexibility …
A very small form-factor ILC camera, ( check ) that can take an EVF, ( missing )
and with the best or near best available sensor ( check ). In other words, a sports car,
a family car, and a small truck, all in one package, requiring only quick
and easy modifications to meet immediate goals.
Oh, and make it very nice looking. I think Panasonic is very close with the GM1.

  27. i am curious about the build quality of other pana m43 camera’s,
can the gf series also withstand a adult balancing on it?
    i haven’t tried that yet, i cant afford a replacement 😉

  28. In response to the poll question:

Yes, I like it, for what it is. But it’s not really what I want in a camera, so I won’t be buying it. But I’m glad Panasonic made it for people who will.

  29. Looks like serious alternative to high end point and shoot, Sony offering, and even bridge cameras! Plus it has bigger sensor and new processing engine. No hot shoe and I suspect that those who would look at this camera would live without a hot shoe. Design looks well done. Plus I have a G3 and the touchscreen from Pany is first rate.

  30. GM1 is nice for portability as long as the lens is very pancake and fine IQ , maybe the coming 15mm ?

But this is at the cost of eliminating much of what makes some M43s enjoyable to use : viewer, buttons, handling, etc… in short : ergonomy . I find GX7 and G6 small enough and more ‘control friendly’ and worth being the center of a system (several lenses, etc.).

On the other end , i still carry a ‘vintage’ Lumix LX2 when i don’t expect to take pictures (just in case) . GM1 is too pricey for that, at least for me… but everything is relative as some will consider it the bridge between high end small sensor compacts and bigger systems including DSLRs.

  31. Very charming and attractive camera indeed.
Panasonic should focus on this design concept for now on and apply the same design concept to their G and GH series. Please forget silly DSLR style.

Seriously speaking, Panasonic an Fuji perhaps should team up and establish the school of design. Oly and Sony should enroll immediately for learning the concept of aesthetic style and for better undestarding artful design so that some of their latest models (i.e. A7 or E-M1) should have not been rediculously ugly DSLR style with gawky hump.

    1. I agree concerning the design, yet not fully concerning DSLR-style layout and “humps”. When panning while shooting videos from a tripod, the central location of the viewfinder, which seems to require at least some hump, turns out be more practical than the rangefinder layout. Centrally located EVFs just turn while rangefinder-style EVFs additionally move forth and back. A fresh design for cameras with a central viewfinder position would be very welcome, though. Needlessly copying DSLR designs doesn’t really make sense. Continue being creative, Panasonic! Give us a stunningly modern GH4!

    2. +1 Cannot say better

I choose GX7 since it’s very more artful and classy than Oly. E-M1, to me, is like a small brick with weird hump.

    1. It is odd that only the silver version is offered for preorder at time of release…same as the GX7….
In time that will change, so patience is needed…Other colors will become available in time and if not there is always Canada and eBay.
I feel the whole line should be available at launch….just makes good business sense. If a company is manufacturing cameras …the whole point is to sell them….isn’t it?

  32. Is this the slow death of headless Panasonic?
    Peole discuss about the cameraboy…

    NOBODY ABOUT THE P I C T U R E
    hm?
    and if..why is it always a marketing-next-year-next-iditoic-step
to geht it every year out of my money bag

    MY MONEY?
is it the KINGODM of INTERNET-ish-FULL-idiotic-consumers?

    bmc poket = film

something from ebay g3 g 5 gh-2 gyxtz for some lite mony makes
    4/3th -photo-sometimes film

it is headless unconsequent and THE FEAR of 10 bit 442 and so on.
