  1. funny …I am selling my 20mm on eBay this week!…I also have the Pany/Leica 25mm and I just found that the 20mm was too close in focal length and I was not using it…I just picked up the new Oly 17mm as it is a MUCH faster focuser and gives me a little more range in my prime lenses…
The 20mm is sharp AND small, tho!!!!

    1. Thats good to hear. I sold my 20mm a couple weeks ago and am buying the 25mm tomorrow, mostly for the improved auto focus. I already have the 14mm on an e-pm1 when I want compact.

  2. I sold mine to give the way to the summilux .
The lens is a bit slow in focusing & bokeh wise can’t match the great 45mm . Compact wise , yes it did triumphed but I still prefer the summilux & the 45mm when come to image quality . If I really need something very compact , the 14mm fit my pocket better .

    1. yeah…that was another reason I sold my 20mm. I own the 14mm and when you want compact (especially on my GX1) the lens is great!!! Fast focusing, too…not quite as sharp as the 20mm…but not enough for anyone to notice!!!!!
What is cool is that we have sooooooo many choices, especially for a system that is sooooo young…nothing compares to MFT in Mirrorless Camera Land for me.

  3. Sold my 20mm and put the money toward the 25mm Panaleica. No regrets and well worth the sub $200 difference. Faster AF, brighter and better bokeh.

  4. To me, this slow and noisy AF lens is totally overrated. The 1.4/25mm is a lot better. How such a product can be a top seller is hard to believe.

    1. Haha hey Mahler. I didnt know you were still around. The images from the 20mm are still excellent but the focusing speed and noise weren’t up to modern standards IMO. I think the reason the 20mm achieved legend-status is because it was released so early at the beginning of m4/3. There was no alternative back then and it was the must-have prime.
I think that if it was just released today, it would have received more critical reviews and wouldn’t be as well regarded. It is still a great lens, but I think it has benefited most from timing.

      1. How true that is. Timing can mean everything sometimes. Just think, one day all the current lenses will be obsolete and replaced by even faster and optically superior models. Hopefully, they’ll be more compact and will all be weather sealed as well!… Definitely need more weather sealed options in the lineup!

  5. Amazon should consolidate sales of the OM-D ME-5 – be interesting to see where it was in the list if you combined black/silver/no body categories

  6. Interesting comments above from those that have sold their 20mms. I was never that impressed with the 20, the slow focus thing put me off. I used the 45 and 14 for a long time, recently added the 25/1.4. When it arrived I was surprised at how big it is though. Compared to the 14 and 45 it is quite a monster.

  7. My 20mm stays on my GX1 most of the time. So much, I sold the 45mm. Too shiny on the streets…
I have been having fun recently with the D Vario-Elmarit 14-50 f2.8 though… My next lens will be that 25mm.

  8. When will there be an update? It is a shame that Pana is not able to develop a new electronic for a quite good lense. And the design needs an upgrade too. Very old fashioned !!!!

  9. Long time feeder, first time commenter.
Picked up the 3rd to last Panasonic 20mm from Panacam.
My first lens for my E-P3!

    Thanks for the tip!

  10. I almost never comment, but i did some searching and wound up here New GF,

And I actually do have a couple of questions for you if you tend not to mind.

Is it just me or does it give the impression like some of these comments
look like left by brain dead individuals? :
