There is finally some info about the GM1 availability in US. The camera will ship from December 7 according to Amazon US (Click here). It’s a more general “mid-December” according to BHphoto (Click here). Canadians have even more luck and the Gm1 is already in Stock at Henrys (Click here).

And today there is also a great deal on the Olympus E-M5. You can buy the black body for $767 at [shoplink 43010 ebay]Big Value on eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

    1. And Aden Camera has it for $659. It is going to be touch selling a lower end OMD when you have sales like this on the E-M5.

    1. GM1 (black with 12-32mm lens) parallel imports are selling for HK$5380 in Hong Kong, that’s US$695. I had a play with one – it’s too small for me and the lens’ zoom seems a little overdamped, but otherwise it has a great feel to it and it’s quite responsive.

  1. honestly, after trying out the EM1 and GX7 for a few days , I do not think I will buy the EM5 even if it costs me only 200US.
the EM5 is an ancient camera in digital world.

    1. That’s an odd sentiment… EM5 is still a competitive camera. At current prices it’s the best bang for the buck! As long as you’re not trying to keep up with the Jones

    2. The EM5 runs circles around the GM1 and GX7, now costs less and was launched two years ago…
It’s obvious what company is setting the pace here….and I have not even mentioned the M1 or the new 12-40mm zoom!

      1. I had the EM5 until recently.
        I’ve had the 520,E30,EPL1,EP2 and EM5.
But I really fell in love with Pana menu and handling while playing with my girlfriend GX1.
        Replaced the EM5 for a GX7 and really don’t regret it 🙂
Of course… I think the EM5 is an absolutely fantastic value for the current price!
It’s nonsense to argue about a better value, but still… I would recommend a GX7.

        1. Pretty subjective. I have had the EM-5 since day one and I plan do get the GX-7 to replace it. Better handling, better menu, more, etc. The IBIS is not such a huge deal.

  2. No surprise that Oly’s semi-pro camera is selling for the same price as Nikon d7000.

Who’s gonna buy the GM1 at launch price?

  3. I just took a look at Henry’s and see their price for GM! with kit lens now listed at $799! Looks like there must be a lot of demand to start raising the prices so soon at a major distributor not Ebay.

    1. Glad to hear it works well with the 45-175X. The tiny kit lens that goes to 24mm and pairing it with the 45-175x will make a complete, small, light travel and hiking kit. Pair it with the forthcoming 15mm, the 20mm pancake, and the Olympus 45mm and you have small, fast primes covered also. I have all those lenses except the 15mm, and I will get that as soon as it is available.

My GM1 is one the way now fromPanasonic, just in time for my birthday trip to SFO in early December! I am very excited

      1. 24mm? I guess you meant 32mm…I have had my GM1 about 8 hours and I am already crazy about this lens. Tomorrow I will try it on my E-M1, and try my Oly 75mm on the GM1. Should be a fun day, and I already feel like a kid at Christmas.

        1. Sorry, I meant goes to 12mm (24mm equivalent on 35mm film) at the wide end. That extra 2mm between the typical kit wide end at 14mm makes a big difference to me. I am ok with just 32mm at the tele end, I would rather have the wider short end. I am glad you are enjoying your camera, and I am looking forward to getting mine. You can always crop a bit at the tele end to move closer, but you can’t crop wider than the shortest end.

          1. Very good point! The gadget freak within me is really making it difficult to put this GM1 down so I can get to sleep. Tomorrow I hope to try it with the Panny 14mm & 20mm…also with the Oly 45mm & 75mm. If I have time left (and no rain), I’ll try the Oly 60mm macro and 15mm body cap. So much to do…

          2. Please post your reviews of those lenses with your new camera on DPreview so we can all learn.

  4. Admin: Why are you advertising listings by Big Value? Have you looked at their negative reviews? Items advertised as new are turning out to be open box, used, missing warranty cards, or refurbished, and they’re not honoring their 30 day return policy. That would never happen with Amazon, B&H, Adorama and other reputable dealers.

    1. Thanks for the advice. I already ordered it for 699€ on Amazon.de so I guess the price will be changed automatically for my order.
