Dpreview just posted the list of winners of their PIX 2015 awards. And the Panasonic G7 won in the consumer hybrid camera category. DP writes:
The G7 disguises itself as just another entry/mid-level ILC but, more so than almost any of its rivals, it’s as much a video camera as it is a stills camera. Above and beyond the specifications, it’s the well-implemented touchscreen interface and relatively high bitrate video capture that make the G7 such a nice camera to shoot video with. The Micro Four Thirds lens mount means that the G7 can be used with a wide variety of lenses, including cine lenses via adaptor, or provide excellent image quality with the system’s own lenses.

A well deserved award for Panasonic G7, a very good camera at a decent price point!
Hmm, it only got “80%” in dpreview’s own testing.
If only it had a higher video bit rate for 1080p/60 fps. 28 Mbs just seems a bit too low. Otherwise, the G7 might have been the camera to replace my GH3 while I wait on the dreamed of GHx with 4k @ 60 fps. 🙂

Wow…. must be some bitter fanboys out there. This a really good swiss knife of a camera, one of the best in M43 right now.
We all know your shtick is to try to manufacture outrage where there is none, but I think everyone agrees that the G7 is a nice camera.
How did Fuji do?
I have one of these and I love it. I use it with a Pentax CCTV f1.4 lens and they shots have been great. For video, we just shot a commercial with it and a GH4. Both are quite good.
Very nice to see Panasonic win something – I always get the feeling that they are in a group with Samsung 🙂 Sony and Fuji and Olympus seem always get the most attention – and yes I have the Fuji X100s and Xt1 and X20 and Sony Nex5n, NEX7, A6000 and A7 and Olympus EM1 and EM5 and Stylus 1 so I have nothing but good to say about them also – I also have DSLR gear – but my favorite to use cameras are some of my Panasonic’s like the GX8 – with such an awesome EVF and great Touch LCD with Touch Shutter – C1 C2 C3 – and so many Fn buttons –
The Samsung NX1 is a good camera but does not get much recognition because it is a Samsung – and I predict they will pull out of the camera business – I just have that feeling that other than the GH3/GH4 most folks do not think much of the other Panasonic cameras – which is so silly as does not the Olympus OMD-EM5 have a Panasonic sensor for example … and Olympus still has no 4K etc etc – Yes Sony has nice sensors but they have been catching up as far as usability and menu system – So hopefully this award will get many to look at Panasonic in a different light –
