    1. My X-T1 looks exactly like that. Many pros don’t like to advertise brands while using the tools, especially publicly. As a working photojournalist, I’ve done that for over 25 years with my Nikons, etc.

      1. …which has always struck me as an utterly redundant exercise. Those who know about cameras — who might want to engage in a conversation — are usually savvy enough to know what you’re shooting with, gaffer tape notwithstanding.

        The rest don’t care.

When was the last time someone tried to “disguise” what brand of car they drive? lol.

        1. And still, many people who don’t know Fujifilm will still chat with you about it. With a little bit of tape, you can just make it stop.

      2. After a few months all my cameras are usually beyond tape, as the anodizing wears off rather quickly.

Besides, over here in South Africa, if you are not using a “pro-grade” Canon or Nikon nobody will discuss gear with you.

      3. An old habit. Very old. The camera and advertising business has changed with social media. 25 years ago things were different. The impact of showing the label of brand “x” has changed. We aren’t discussing the brand now. Just the silly tape.
Many professionals don’t care and don’t mind it at all. Marketing and exposure $$$. Some professionals aren’t social media savy

      1. Really? gaffer-taping up labels wouldn’t prevent a curious persons from questioning you about it. It actually draws more attention and more discussions, as to why you do it in the first place. Unless someone has told you that, if you gaff your labels they won’t discuss it. People coment on the Fuji X-T1 because of the body styling. I can understand that you might gaff a lesser tier label on the Canon or Nikon system while on a gig, for fear of the customer asking why you didn’t bring along the high end model. Because the body stylings are rather similar. One might question why you aren’t using your best equipment for their gig. A tech savy bride could ask you about it. Just like top shelf liquor at a bar. Gaffing up your labels could possibly mean you’re going cheap on me. Or maybe your equipment is in repair.

        1. You can talk all you want. I hated the chitchat and it stopped when I taped the brand and model name. Cause and effect.

  1. I received mine last Wednesday, but unfortunately, there was a defect with the lens coating on the rear element, so I had to send it back for exchange. Who knows when I’ll receive another.

    1. I had similar with my 35 1.4 brand new out of the box. My 18-55 had shreds of cardboard all over the front of the it as well. Fuji qc needs to be tightened. I had a lot of hassle exchanging both lenses.

  2. Whats it matter if there is tape or not? This is a Fuji based site so we all know what camera it is. That is the great thing of being able to do what you want! p.s. the picture is of my camera.

  3. taping over the name of any machine is pointless …it increases interest in the shrouded bit of technology , it seems to me ,it only emphasizes the fear and cowardice in the owner , i m sad to say…….it screams at a potential thief , i ms so valuable my name cannot be exposed
