  1. Downloaded the sample and I see lots of halos (over sharpened) to make up for the noise reduction perhaps.

    1. I don’t know where you see the halos but I didn’t sharpened the image nor did I tweak noise reduction. Opened it in lightroom, used the Provia color profile, cropped it slightly, sent the picture to Photoshop, converted it to black and white, added the white frame. Then I saved the file using JPG (12, maximum). Done. Nothing esle.

        1. Well, ideal cameras’ pixels are point pixels which have almost no area, and only use a high quality ultrawide-angle prime. If you need a different focal length, zoom in post-processing. That’s what engineers think an ideal camera should be.

In reality, I would be happy to see that come true.

      1. You have provided a beautiful example of what this fabulous lens can do. Don’t worry about a pixel-peeping fool. The rest of us love what you have produced, and look forward to using this fabulous new lens from Fuji.

    2. If you look at the top left corner of the image you can see it’s soft. Look at it at 800% and compare it to the other bokeh. You can see it’s softness really stands out at 800%

    3. So glad you noticed… what a crappy lens! I will send mine back with an angry note as soon as it arrives. How dare Fuji create, invent, produce and ship such a worthless POS! I am so offended!

    1. I’m not. Two completely different lenses for different purpose.
90mm is a classic portrait lens, the 50-140 sucks for portrait but is good as an overall tele zoom travel lens.

      1. For travel I’d choose the 55-200 ten times over. The 50-140 is more of an event shooter workhorse.

        1. True. Or even the 50-230, which is optically very much like the 55-200 but has a plastic construction to keep the weight down.

  2. Now that we have this marvel, how about a 135mm f/2.8 OIS Micro lens with at least 1:2 capability, with extension tube provided to achieve 1:1 (and retaining the 62mm filter thread of the 90 and 56? Hey, just askin’.

  3. Just received my 90mm this morning. All of the superlatives that have been written so far seem accurate. However what I have not read so far is the noise/sound that the lens makes, especially in playback mode. As if the guts of the lens is moving. There is also a slight movement felt. Has anyone else experience this? On my 35 and 56 there is nothing of this sort.

      1. Thank you for the explanation. It is a bit weird and disconcerting at first. However it has now become almost not noticeable, thankfully.
