Fujifilm updated its XF-lens catalogue. You don’t really will get new specs about the upcoming lenses (still no aperture range marking on the XF 100-400), but you can get an idea of the size of the upcoming lenses. Go to the XF-special site and download the catalogue here.
There is also a new special site about the new AF system. You can also download a Handbook.

ENJOY READING IT: X-T10 First Look / XF 90mmF2 WR First Look
Spotted by Thomas and shared at the FR-facebook page here: the Fujifilm X-T10 with XF 35mmF2 WR lens (via lesnumeriques). Accoding to the roadmap, the XF 35mm will be released late 2015… and would be the perfect kit lens for the Fuji X-PRO2 😉 .
Do you like the look of the X-T10, now that more and more real life samples surface on the web? The discussion is hot at the fuji-x-forum… you can read here what fellow X-shooters think about it.

35mm f/2 looks pretty small, but the 1.4 isn’t big at all and dirt cheap considering the picture quality, so the new one has to really perform auto focus wise! It’s great to have more options in that focal length, but I still wish Fuji would update the 1.4 with improved silent auto focus and no change in picture quality.
I agree, the autofocus on the 35 f/1.4 has made me lose plenty of shots on the street so I now use the 23mm f/1.4. But I still prefer the 35mm field of view… I second a vote for the 35mm f/1.4 version II
I don’t think anybody would vote against it. 😉 No system is complete without a good old 50mm equivalent. That’s why it’s the first lens that they made, now they almost have two, and surely a version 2 will get here sooner or later. Just wish it was sooner. 🙁
Let’s hope it takes so long because they are working on making it F1.2. In case you all think the 35/2 is too similar. 😉 But it isn’t either way, one stop is double the amount of light you know. 🙂
Here’s a graph: http://howmuchblur.com/#compare-1.5x-56mm-f1.2-and-1.5x-90mm-f2-and-1.5x-35mm-f1.4-and-1.5x-35mm-f2-on-a-0.9m-wide-subject
Yes, I think either a 35 1.2 or 1.0 will replace the 1.4 eventually. Similar size and cost to the 56mm.
Apparently, the 4.0 FW update will make even the old dogs like the 35/1.4 faster and more accurate (or so I have heard). Perhaps there will even be lens FW updates when the new AF system is “official” to eke out even more performance. Nothing can be done with the noisy chatter though…
Amazing achievement by Fujifilm. What could hardly be called a system in 2012 is a fully developed system which amazing lens choice by 2016.
I wonder if you’re able to change the Auto-Focus mode through the Q menu, they only show the main menus right now. It’d be nice to set Custom modes for different AF modes.
Please give us a 23mm f2 lens around the size of a summicron. Please…
120mm macro looks big. I hope the working distance from front of lens is not compromised.
And they don’t even need to add camera bodies or random M-mount glass in the picture anymore to make it seem less empty. 😛
Saw 120mm f/2.8 OIS WR
I am probably way off the mark here, but given this expected 35mm f/2 and the way they present it on the X-T10 it is hard to see the X100-series continue.
I understand the whole optical viewfinder discussion, but… the new 35 gives the impression that you get a package almost as compact as an X100 series camera but you also get lens interchangeability if you would like that. And for those not wanting to change lenses – they don’t have to.
Any thoughts on this? (And I am not saying I think this is a good or bad thing – the image just got me thinking…).
Err no..you don’t get a leaf shutter, built in ND filter or the OVF..all these things are a big deal to alot of people. The leaf shutter alone makes the X100 series amazing for strobists.
Fair enough. And I certainly would love to see them continue making X100 cameras. I was just asking to see what I was missing in my already flawed reasoning 🙂
Give me a ver. of the X100 for each of my fav focal lengths and I’ll ditch the X lenses. 56mm and 14mm, please Fuji! Love you long time.
Not just for strobists but also for people that want to use the camera’s flash for fill-in with no concern about sync speed.
The lens is 35mm equiv and leaf shutter is a must for silence and slow speed shots.
Apart from that the design and body shape makes it much more “invisible” for street that any DSLR alike, no matter if smaller that the average.
I was thinking the same. Checked yesterday sizes (X-T10 is already up on camerasize.com). Not much difference.
What I would like to see is X200: an X100-styled body, APS-C sensor, 2.5X zoom lens 20-50mm f/2.8 with “park/off” position like X10/20/30 (note: DOF at 50/2.8 would be comparable to current DOF at 23/2.0, and high ISO is good enough for low light anyway so one stop loss won’t do much harm). Toss in a flip screen and an X-T1 class EVF (no OVF) and IMO that would be enough to make it more versatile and attractive, a good travel, carry everywhere, and backup camera, but not intended to replace system camera with interchangeable lenses.
As a side effect, they could also kill X30 successor and focus on APS-C cameras. How about X100 line with fast primes and OVFs, X200 line with zoom lenses and high quality EVFs, and the rest with interchangeable lenses. No small sensor compacts.
Anybody knows what’s different with this 35mm F2 in comparison with the F1.4 version ?!
0.6? 🙂 Also goes up to F22.
Smaller, lighter, cheaper, and more retro looking?
Hopefully not 1% smaller, 2% lighter, 3% cheaper, and overdone retro 🙂
Weather sealed, supposedly much faster autofocus, littler, one stop slower. I really hope substantially faster autofocus means “faster than the 23 and 56mm” not just “faster than the 35mm 1.4”.
Littler is a big deal for a carry around lens. I love my 18mm. I just wish the focus ring wasn’t plastic and the corners actually got sharp by f/8. Would buy an updated version with these features in a heartbeat.
The initial triad seems to be a bit compromised when compared to the later primes. Bet/hope the 18 is next to get bumped after the new 35 and 120 are out!
The 120mm macro is really big 🙁 I just hope that it will undergo the same transformation as the 90mm from the mockup to the final version.
Get longer but slimmer?
The other way around this time 😉
I had hoped that it could replace my 55-200, but this chunk does not look like it’s meant to be carried around in a small bag all day long. I guess it was just a dream anyway, since the inner focussing will dictate making it quite a long lens per se.
I don’t care… Fuji, shut up and take my money!!
I do care, but I am afraid Fuji will get my money nonetheless :-/
waiting for the 35mm F2, Yeah finally a fully weather seal lightweight.
According to ephotozine.com, the X-T10 is “aimed at enthusiasts with the world’s shortest time lag.”
I’m not sure who these super-fast enthusiasts are, but I’m sure someone here on FR will know!
🙂
I’m actually one of them since I’ll be picking up an X-T10. I can assure you the rumors are correct. My lag time is as quick as it gets.
Freudian slip?
For people wanting primes, the 16 1.4 WR, 35 2.0 WR and 90 2.0 WR will make a sweet weather sealed prime kit (e.g. for travels). Classic focal length combination of 24 50 and 135, too.
For all of you complaining about what lenses are missing… this system had three lenses three years ago.
Would be sweet if they offered the X-T10/ 35mm f2 as a kit…
It wouldn’t surprise me if they do in the future.
and as much as I’d like that, I doubt it will happen. Consumer cameras get zooms. However, the X-Pro2 and 35mmf2 should both come out in the fall and I think they would use it to showcase that camera…sooo 🙂
Consumer cameras didn’t always get zooms 🙂
Someone once told me the original X-T1 was bundled with 2 primes… I dunno that is for the Singapore market but I heard something along that line.
Just looking at the new 35 mm it begs to be mounted on an X-Pro2……just sayin’
So much work / progress in just a few years. Way to go, Fujifilm! Forget about the haters, we are a happy Fuji X community and still growing.
Well done fuji .What about FX 75mm f1.8 or f2
70/1.8 makes sense to me! 🙂
“A collection of creativity-oriented lenses, which complement the X-Trans CMOS sensor perfectly and eliminate the low-pass filter for ultimate sharpness.”
Am I having a bad day, or is this really complete grammar crap? The lenses eliminate the low-pass filter?! Whoever wrote this, what did he smoke?
Perhaps nano-GI coating!
Their English is hilarious at times, remember the confusion when the Graphite Silver X-T1 was launched regarding whether the black would get the same functionality through a firmware update (the answer was YES, but apparently that got lost in translation from Japanese….)
And how is your Japanese then, Jan?
So impatient to get this 100-400 mm. The 55-200 is too short for birds…
The 3 recently released lens have Nano-GI coating. I wonder if the old ones will eventually get coating upgrades.
I’m amazed by the lineup every time I see it. Three years. Three years.
Not going to happen.
why not?
A 35mm Summicron is absolutely tiny. It is optimised to be tiny, sharp, and for whatever else Leica deem necessary in a Summicron. If Fujifilm wanted a lens that small, they’d have to severely limit its performance, ala the 18mm, and suffer the righteous wrath of the people that wished the 18 was sharper, or had less fall off, yadda yadda yadda.
Or, they’d just have to make it mechanical and Fujifilm X fans (the ones that swear they want the soul of a mechanical camera) won’t get along with a mechanical lens. They can’t do without AF. The other problem is that in order to make an equivalent FOV, the lens has to be a wider angle lens, e.g., 23 vs 35, and wide angle lenses are always larger than than narrower lenses at the same equivalent FOV on different sensor sizes.
Not going to happen.
After seeing the 35 f/2 next to the 35 f/1.4, I think I’ll just keep my 1.4. Size doesn’t look that much smaller, and I use 1.4 quite often in low light. Unless Fuji starts making a silver variant of more lenses, that is! *hint hint*
Yes, I guess that makes sense for someone who already owns an f/1.4. I’m currently doing my street work with my X100 but been looking for a slightly longer prime lately to put on my X-T1, while remaining light and inconspicuous. I think I might actually choose the new 35 f/2 over the 1.4 if image quality is on par (and if I manage to wait until it comes out !) Granted, I wish it were more pancake-y, but everything I can gain in weight and bulk is a plus, and I think the weird retro look makes you that much more of a crazy amateur, hopefully causing more sympathy/indifference than suspiciousness. Just looking at it, the aperture ring seems somewhat more comfortable, too. I hear the 35 1.4’s ring can be a bit loose. Plus I think the autofocus will inevitably be better.
I think if I were to pick now, with both lenses released, I’d go with the f/2. Faster AF, weather-resistance and a slightly smaller package are all pros over the f/1.4 to me. As I already have the f/1.4, I’m not sure I can justify getting another 35 when I’d prefer to put that towards the upcoming X-Pro 2, a 50-140mm f/2.8 or 16mm f/1.4.
I have been reading that about the aperture rings on many of their lenses, but I think I’ve been lucky. It’s firm and solid on all my lenses (14, 35 and 56); though not as tight as on my X100T. I wish they were all like that 🙂
I am waiting for the 35MM F2, sure is a must to have. I skipped the more expensive F1.4 and waited for it!
The WR series the ring click is very solid, tried it and love it.
I’m looking forward to the inevitable 35 f2 vs summicron 35 comparisons
Still waiting more informations about the 100-400mm lens.
I would be happy to see it in store now, not next year…
I wonder what FUJIFILM have planned for 2016 … hopefully an auto-focus 500mm catadioptric and a fish-eye lens?
I can’t understand 100 – 400 when 300 is still missing.
